Lack of customer care and business intuition

My experience with the Goodfellows Mitcham branch regarding the sale of my property and a potential purchase was marked by a lack of proactive service and poor communication. During the time my house was on the market, I attended several viewings and noted a lack of proactive effort in highlighting the property's key selling points to prospective buyers. I raised these concerns with Jonathan, and while there was a slight temporary improvement, the overall approach lacked the professional sales drive I expected.
More disappointingly, I encountered significant communication issues regarding a property I wished to buy. I had made an initial offer and explicitly requested that Jonathan notify me if the seller’s circumstances changed or if other interest developed, as I was prepared to increase my offer. Months later, I discovered the house had been sold to another party without any contact from the agency. When I followed this up, Jonathan denied agreeing to keep me informed
The lack of accountability and professional courtesy was further highlighted when I gave notice to leave the agency; no one called to discuss my concerns or provide an exit conversation. I only received a message months later asking if I needed help finding a home once they noticed my property was under offer elsewhere. Ultimately, the agency’s failure to communicate resulted in a loss for all parties: the seller missed out on a higher price, and the agency missed a larger commission, as I would have outbid the sale figure. This experience demonstrated a regrettable lack of both customer care and business intuition.

First Time Landlords …

The North Cheam office were brilliant from beginning to end especially Stephen Offield, Jonathan, Jeff Brock and Kayla.

However, our local branch in Mitcham were disappointing. No real good clear communication and we felt we had to always chase up any concerns we had.

We recently purchased a property on St Dunstan's Hill through Goodfellows and had a great experience from start to finish. Lorraine conducted the initial viewing and was lovely and welcoming, setting a positive tone right from the beginning.

From that point onward, Stefan managed the process and was absolutely fantastic to deal with. His down-to-earth and professional approach made everything much easier. He provided access to the property several times—right from day one through to various key stages like surveys and inspections. He always ensured our questions were answered promptly, getting seller feedback on time and keeping us fully informed throughout.

I would highly recommend Goodfellows (Cheam/Stonecot branch) and wouldn’t hesitate to work with them again. Thank you again to Stefan, Lorraine, and the entire team!

Property purchase

Having recently bought a property on The Rise through Goodfellows, I wanted to say we found Lynn, James and the rest of the staff extremely helpful and lovely to deal with. They were all very professional and kept us upto date throughout the process. I would highly recommend Goodfellows and wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

Helpful Estate Agent - Positive Experience

I was purchasing my house at the end of March 2025 which was undoubtedly a very busy time for all involved in house sales as a lot of people were looking to buy before 31 March. The estate agent for this property, Jonathan Walugembe, went above and beyond to help both myself and the seller get the purchase over the line in time, enabling communications between all parties to move as quickly and efficiently as possible, which was so helpful in the circumstances and for which we were all extremely grateful. Particularly as I'm aware it was probably a very busy time for all. Thank you Jonathan!
I also spoke with other estate agents from Goodfellows when looking at other houses earlier on in the process who were genuine, friendly, and able to provide helpful local knowledge about the area and purchasing within this area, so it was a good experience all round.

Very Efficient Property Management

Maria Castle​​​ is our Property manager and she is very effective and efficient in managing the Tenants and Property. I had a couple of issues with the Hot Water and Washing Machine and she was working with me and resolved all the issues to best of satisfaction to both the Landlord and the Tenant.

Responsive, professional and effective property manager

Reece has been our Account manager, managing our flat on behalf of Hawes and Company for the past couple of years. It has been an absolute pleasure working with him for a number of reasons
1) he always answers phone calls or emails and even if not an immediate response, I know he will reply - normally on the same day
2) any problems that our tenants have had have been immediately dealt with
3) the tradesman that Hawes and co employ and that Reece organises have been superb and they have always fixed problems efficiently and quickly
4) Could not wish to work with a better property manager than Reece.

I had several offers on the property

I had several offers on the property, two for full price and one for over the asking price, which unfortunately did not work out.
Lisa, Richard, and Sylvia were good to deal with and responded to my requests quickly; therefore, I would use them again.

Property Manager

We have been renting a flat via Goodfellows Raynes Park the last 3 years now.
Recently there is a new Property Manager, Khush, who has been very efficient with everything, trying her best to resolve any issues there are.

Great experience dealing with Jonathan…

Great experience dealing with Jonathan Walugembe, very helpful and informative. There are a lot of moving pieces and back and forth with the house buying process and he made the process so much easier. Very responsive and made sure to make sure I was fully comfortable and informed the whole time.

Even after completion he checked in to make sure the move went okay. Above and beyond service and really great end to end from Goodfellows.

Excellent experience selling our flat.

We have had a great experience with Goodfellows, and especially Kerry, who dealt with the sale. No easy task, due to various issues, including availability of a mortgage on the flat. Goodfellows were the third estate agents we had used in order to try and sell this flat, but they were successful in the challenge.

Helpful, polite and professional to deal with throughout. I would not hesitate to use them again or recommend to others.

Absolutely Awful Experience with Goodfellows
If I could give zero stars, I would. Dealing with Goodfellows has been nothing short of a nightmare. From start to finish, their lack of professionalism and disregard for tenants’ concerns has been appalling.
To begin with, communication is practically nonexistent. Emails and calls go unanswered for days, sometimes weeks. When they do finally respond, it’s with vague or dismissive answers that leave you feeling unheard and frustrated.
The property I rented was not as advertised. Issues like faulty appliances, plumbing problems, and mold were present from day one, yet Goodfellows consistently failed to address them despite repeated complaints. Their so-called “maintenance team” is either overbooked, unqualified, or simply doesn’t care.
To make matters worse, they are quick to charge exorbitant fees for anything and everything, often without proper explanation. When it came time to move out, they unfairly deducted a large chunk of my deposit for “cleaning” and “repairs” that were either unnecessary or pre-existing.
It’s clear that Goodfellows cares only about their profits, not the well-being of their tenants. I wouldn’t recommend this agency to anyone. Save yourself the stress and look elsewhere for your rental needs.
