The jacket delivered was unfortunately too large. After checking the website and confirming with customer services, I was advised that it could be returned to my local store in Colchester.
However, upon visiting the store, it became apparent that they were unable to assist with the return. During this interaction, I was spoken to in a condescending, rude, and abrupt manner, which left me feeling embarrassed and disappointed.
The replacement jacket is excellent; however, the in-store customer service was woeful.

Went in the Colchester branch and asked a member of staff about the size of a rucksack. Was spoken to in condescending and patronising way. Ended up not buying the rucksack, went home and bought the same rucksack on Amazon and it was cheaper. Won't be going there again

Andrew was so patient and helpful at the Colchester branch, giving my partner and I tips and tricks on how to make our hiking shoes more comfortable. He helped us to choose a pair that fitted right, and the young man who was the cashier was very helpful too, telling us membership details, selling us our items with a smile. It was our first time visiting and we will definitely be back. Lots of choice from names like Berghaus, Merrel, Salomon, Hunter and more! Thank you ! ♡

Two lads on the till at Colchester store on the 22nd January at 4pm (ish) were not very helpful. Made me feel like a nuisance. I was returning an item that was delivered damaged, they said they didnt have space in there store for my item that needed returning and that it would be better if i traveled to a different store. They suggested i go to bury st Edmunds or Ipswich stores instead. They were quite intimidating together, the lad that finished his shift around 4pm had such a bad attitude. I then ended up apologizing for asking for a return for a damaged item.
The unhelpful bloke who finished his shift at 4pm went and got the manager - the manager was actually helpful and kind and processed the refund for me with no stroppy comments and didnt make me feel bad for asking for a refund on a damaged item.
Im glad your other stores are not like this. The Ipswich store is so good the staff there are so helpful, we actually enjoy visiting Ipswich store if we are in the area. Such a shame because its put me off using my local Colchester store.

Great service with a smile, Pam and Andrew from clothing and footwear were helpful and informative , friendly and kind.

Mark (Colchester) was brilliant with his advice for my son who is heading on his travels in January! He took a lot of time and trouble which was very much appreciated.

The gentleman who helped me buy walking boots on Friday 14th Nov could not have been more helpful and professional. He was very patient as I tried on multiple pairs and then gave a recommendation that I ended up buying. Just worn them for a walk and they were comfortable, supportive and lightweight. Thank you!

On 8th of October I was looking for a Berghaus fleece jacket to replace a much older model from the same stable that had recently been lost. I was helped by an older staff member, Pam, who went to considerable trouble to find one of suitable style and size for me.
I must commend Go Outdoors for employing older ladies like Pam to help somewhat less able customers of similar age, such as me, in making a satisfactory purchase.

Popped into the Colchester store, and met Pam, Susan and Adam who were extremely helpful and found us the walking boots we needed. Special thanks to Pam for not giving up!

Another great trip to the Colchester store. Tom was brilliant at fitting my daughter's rucksack for DofE and advising on how to repack it properly! I highly recommend this store for the helpful, friendly and very knowledgeable staff who clearly have loads of relevant experience which they put to good use here. Thank you.

The team - Pam, Susan, Mike and Riply were really helpful. I needed a size of jacket which wasn't out in the shop and they went to check stock in the back. They managed to find the size and advise on trousers which I was trying on. It was great that I was able to take it away then and there and not have to buy online!
