Very satisfied with Alasdair’s work

I was sorry to read all the negative Reviews. In my case it went very smoothly in that having failed to get anyone “local” (Dundee) to fix my Freezer and gone through NAC who passed my job on to Alasdair, he came up from Edinburgh a couple of days later whilst doing a number of jobs in Dundee, diagnosed the fault and said he would get a price for the part, which “should be £100 to £200”. He got in touch to say that with VAT it was going to be £288. Having already paid for the standard NAC Callout and included All Labour of £114, this was clearly going to come in at about half the cost of a new machine, for a fix (new Temperature Sensor Control Board for the Compressor) that I had no idea if it would be successful or not. Alasdair assured me that if I wanted to go ahead, and if it did not work, he would refund me for the part. Really could not be fairer than that, and I went ahead. Alasdair’s confidence was fully justified, and Freezer now working again. Great to not needlessly send a quality machine to landfill that should have years of further life ahead. Thanks Alasdair.

Ideally I’d give this no stars

Ideally I’d give this no stars. Guy gave me a four hour time slot to turn up within to fix my washing machine. At 7.30 I messaged to ask where he was, no response, so I called, no response. I left a bad review (on google) as this was then 5.30 hours I’d waited in.

Alistair (who appears to be the sole employee) then sent me lots of messages along the lines of “I have your address and I’ll see you later”. When I asked if this was a threat he called me to inform me that his and his “mates” would be along to “batter me” unless I deleted the review.
He did this from his businesses number.
Threats of violence are serious and I seriously recommend getting in contact with someone who does what they say without getting aggressive or violent.

Used through a third party company to…

Used through a third party company to fix our oven. Didn't know how to fix! Phoned his friend who seemingly advised him to break the door/ which meant breaking the parts of the oven door to repair it. And also, we would need to pay for the parts he broke because he didn't know how to fix it. How can a company be on a third party website not knowing what they will be called out to but also to not be competent to carry out the task! Didn't hear for days was always us doing the catching up. Luckily we fought to get our call out fee etc back as he repaired nothing and said he would. A little tip for people do not use this guy, if you do do not use cash luckily we didn't. He moaned having to travel to us, that's what happens when your part of a third party company. Also watch out for the accusations that you are taking him to court when this wasn't said. He must of mentioned it at least two or three times, sometimes the reply was automated probably sends the same thing to every customer AVOID.

ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE using…

ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE using this man. And it is still ongoing. We paid Alastair £400 in October to repair our fridge freezer. He said there was a problem with the parts and we still did not have our fridge freezer repaired by mid December. This caused our family a huge amount of inconvenience and stress. We then had to buy another brand new fridge freezer because we needed one for the Christmas period. Alastair was
apologetic, said this was unacceptable and agreed to issue us with a refund. 2 months have now passed and not only has Alastair failed to refund us, he has now stopped answering any attempt to communicate or correspond with him. We are determined he will not get away with this. We are now pursuing this issue by way of a Sheriff Court small claim and are in the process of making a formal complaint about him to his registered professional body. BE WARNED. There are other reliable and trustworthy tradesmen out there. Please do yourselves a favour and avoid this man at all costs.

Slow and poor communication - ruined our Christmas

We booked an oven repair for the 23 December. We received an automated text at 13:00 on the 23 December saying the engineer was arriving in 9 minutes. After 40 minutes, no one appeared. I phoned to find out if the person was still coming and was told they would contact me and that they ‘may or may not be coming because they are very busy’. It was nearly 5 pm when I got a text saying they would attend on the 24 December between 11-3.
On the morning of the 24 December, I received a text saying no one would be attending due to sickness and no appointments are available until the 29 December.
If I had clear and prompt communication from this firm yesterday advising they weren’t coming, I might have been able to book another engineer. I was meant to host a Christmas meal and our plans have now been ruined. Very poor and absolutely appalling customer service.

Extremely Poor Service – Avoid Hastie Appliance Repairs

I contacted Hastie Appliance Repairs to fix a broken tumble dryer and the experience was unacceptable from start to finish.

First visit: Technician inspected the appliance, charged a call-out fee, and said a part would be ordered.
Second visit: A different technician arrived a week later, claiming he didn’t trust the previous assessment. He inspected the dryer and again said a part would be ordered.
Third visit: After further chasing, the part was fitted. I paid for the part in full. The tumble dryer still does not work.
Communication: Since then, I have repeatedly tried to contact Hastie Appliance Repairs by phone and text without success. My messages have been ignored.

I have paid for both the call-out and the part, yet the appliance remains broken and the company is now unresponsive. This demonstrates poor workmanship, lack of accountability, and unacceptable customer service.
Recommendation: Based on this experience, I strongly advise others not to use Hastie Appliance Repairs.

Absolutely excellent service

Absolutely excellent! Oven decided to die a couple of days before my dinner party for 9. Alasdair came out the next working day, immediately diagnosed the fault, explained a part would have to be ordered, listened to me wailing about my dinner party for 9, went and made a couple of calls and got the part and returned the next day and fixed it. Dinner party a roaring success.

Just brilliant service – exactly what was needed and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Alasdair – he’s now my go-to oven whisperer.

Purchased and fitted a new Dishwasher - Do not use this Company

Purchased and fitted a new Dishwasher. Paid full price and installation fee for service. Was not there while the work was completed. Subsequently (a day later) requested a receipt for proof of purchase for the warrant - no response at all from Alasdair Hastie. 1 day later, after a single use of the dishwasher - noticed that the door was incredibly stiff and when forcing the door open to empty, the dishwasher fell off the kick board it had been resting on and tipped forward slipping the contents on the floor. Texted Alasdair for assistance in resolve this installation issue - no response again. I have no confidence that the dishwasher is new, I have no ability to claim on the warranty, the fitting was slap dash and I now require hiring someone else to resolve the issues created. Do not use this company.
