Completed full hgv class 2 training through HGVT , medical , theory , cpc and practical. Passed all first time 😀
Everything was booked for me and in a sensible way with full support all the way through. Worth the extra for the way was supported and everything handled .

Amazing training
Finished my traininh with them last week.

Terrible
Terrible. They take days to respond. They are very expensive. I had problems passing my hazard perception. Took me 7 goes at it. £50 to book another test. I complained to my course provider and he didn’t care. I found out that I could book my own hazard perception tests and it would only cost me £11! Why didn’t someone say this too me? I paid for 5 appointments thought these at £50. Also they were vey confident that they would be able to get me a job once I passed my practical test. Well I passed first time. I had to chase them up and ask them to help me get a job. They sent me one number. One number. I called that place left my details and I they still haven’t called me back. Honestly do not bother with this. Terrible from day 1.

We have reached out to request further information so our customer service team can try to resolve the issues raised. However, we have not received a response, which is disappointing, as most genuine customers benefit greatly from the support our team is able to provide.
We are sorry to hear that you were unhappy with your experience. In relation to hazard perception re-tests, our pricing reflects more than just the test booking itself. The fee includes continued access to our training software, ongoing learning support, and assistance with the booking process to help learners prepare properly and improve their chances of passing.
You were always welcome to book directly with the DVSA if you preferred. However, that would have required independent research and choosing an alternative route. As a company, we provide and charge for the services we offer, rather than external products or services.
We also apologise that the post-test recruitment process did not run as smoothly as expected. The contact details provided are for our recruitment partner, Manpower. We have an exclusive support agreement with them, meaning only our learners receive an automatic referral and dedicated assistance in accessing the thousands of driving roles they have available. While we offer guaranteed support in the recruitment process, we cannot guarantee employment, as final hiring decisions always rest with individual employers.
We would still welcome the opportunity to discuss your concerns properly and work towards a resolution if you are willing to provide the requested details to our customer service team.

Poor customer service and booking process
Left an inquiry regarding starting driving training. The man on the phone was very abrupt sounded like a robot reading a script. Told me the price was above £3k and that there’s no finance options or other methods of payment. Expected me to fork out there and then for training like that’s possible. Didn’t even give me the time of day or offer any further recommendations or solutions. Just wished my luck and ended the phone. Not the initial experience I was hoping for! Considering “they are the best HGV training provider” in the UK - would have like a little help, information and support. If you wish to reach out again I am happy to talk hopefully to someone who can change this experience.

Use this company if you have money to waste or look stupid.
My experience with HGVT and the Sunderland LGV Training Centre was extremely disappointing.
Despite seeing somewhat positive reviews from others, my own training felt hostile and unprofessional from the very beginning. The instructor’s attitude made it very difficult to learn. He rarely made eye contact, often came across as rude or dismissive, and his tone was frequently aggressive. This created an uncomfortable atmosphere where I felt afraid to ask questions because I didn’t know how he would react.
When I did ask for clarification, the responses were unhelpful or brushed off with comments like “you didn’t listen the first time.” Instead of offering guidance or support, the instructor seemed impatient and more focused on getting the session over with than actually teaching. Throughout the training, it felt like he was simply in a hurry to finish his shift.
On the final day, I raised my concerns directly with him. He had little to say in response, but shortly afterward my test was cancelled and I was told I needed an additional 16 hours of training because I “wasn’t ready.” After the negative experience I’d already had, this felt incredibly unfair and left me feeling as though I’d wasted my hard-earned money. When I contacted HGVT about it, I was told they couldn’t do anything.
Overall, the training environment did not feel supportive or professional, and it made it difficult to learn or stay motivated. I genuinely hope the company takes steps to ensure instructors treat learners with respect and provide the guidance people are paying for.

After your training had concluded, the concerns you raised as part of your complaint were fully reviewed and investigated. Following this process, we found no evidence to substantiate the claims made and no grounds on which to take further action. Our instructors are fully qualified, experienced professionals, and our training centres are audited regularly to ensure consistently high standards. We also continue to receive a significant volume of positive feedback regarding both the instructor and the training centre.
We recognise that different teaching styles do not suit every learner. For this reason, we have a dedicated team of training coordinators who are available throughout the training period to support learners, address concerns, and resolve any issues at an early stage. Where concerns are raised promptly, we are able to intervene, speak with instructors about adjusting their approach, or arrange an alternative trainer if appropriate. Unfortunately, no concerns were brought to our attention during your training, which limited our ability to provide support at the time.
While we acknowledge your dissatisfaction, we remain confident that the training delivered was professional, fair, and in line with our standards.
