Stayed once again at Hillcroft for the week.
The staff are amazing very friendly and welcoming. The site is well maintained and looked after. The lodge was immaculate very clean. I always along with my family love to stay at Hillcroft

Mum and 4 children turned up accidentally 2 days early for our holiday after a 4 hr drive. The owners have been absolutely amazing and helped us figure out what to do. They found us somewhere quickly and lots of information. The site is beautiful, clean, family friendly, welcoming and the views 😍 stunning! Highly recommend this site to anyone. Thank you so much for all your help!

Stayed two nights in our camper van.Site clean and tidy. Shower blocks are lovely, even fresh flowers 💐. Short walk into Pooley Bridge. Would definitely return

I recently stayed at Hillcroft Camping Park, and unfortunately, it was a deeply disappointing experience. After a long 500km journey, I arrived at the site to find my assigned camping pod (#13) uninhabitable due to an overwhelming paint smell. Upon reporting the issue, I was offered several alternative pods, but all had the same strong odor.

While discussing this with a painter on-site, I was informed that all the pods had either been recently painted or touched up, which explained the pervasive smell. Despite my clear discomfort and explaining that I was recovering from a chest infection, I was told to contact the booking platform (Pitchup.com) for relocation—a completely impractical solution after such a long journey. Left with no other viable option, I had to pay an additional £120 to upgrade to a glamping pod, which was the only habitable accommodation.

The response from Hillcroft Camping Park following my complaint has been dismissive and unhelpful. They insist their pods meet a "high standard," yet my experience and the painter's comments clearly suggest otherwise. Suggesting that the fault lies with me for declining accommodations that were unsuitable is unacceptable.

It’s not about "criticising maintenance"—it’s about accountability for providing a habitable environment for guests. The additional cost I was forced to pay was not a luxury upgrade; it was a necessity due to the unsatisfactory conditions of the camping pods.

I expected better customer service and a willingness to resolve the issue fairly. Unfortunately, Hillcroft Camping Park has shown no interest in taking responsibility or providing compensation for the inconvenience caused.

I cannot recommend this site and will be sharing my experience across review platforms to ensure others are aware of the potential risks involved in booking here.

The Hillcroft Park owners have two licensed Large HMO properties,with single Assured Tenancy agreement. Them don’t have any respect to writing assured tenancy agreement, them coming inside the tenant rented rooms without given 24 notice period and the time to enter . Them don’t carry out any repairs, not can explain generally to tenants, how to recycled rubbish, where to get blue bags . Them even breach assured tenancy agreement on weekly communal areas cleaner expenses. Recently I has been arrested under public order for racial/ religious aggravated harassment- alarm , words , writing, the case is still under investigation. Since my arrest, nobody else anymore share the kitchen during them common time . Local council housing team cover Hillcroft park owners dodge minds . Them don’t do any refurbishment inside and outside the property, meanwhile tenants who are responsible for them rent and own belongings, was asked to remove caravan, who was putting by the owners on the purpose from the caravan park ….

Hillcroft is a beautiful site in a lovely location close to village amenities, it has amazing facilities and is immaculately kept by a friendly, helpful team. A true home from home , best place ever to chill out and enjoy the country and the birdsongs or as a base to visit local attractions.

Used to be a good site since the latest owners seem only to be interested in making the site bigger and bigger to make more money and treating people who have been on the site for 30 years badly and cannot wait to get them off.

Have stayed with hillcroft park for many years, and each time cannot fault the lodges,for space and cleanliness for which we have tried many within the site . The staff are always welcoming and so friendly. I would definitely say if your looking for a outstanding site to stay whether its a lodge pod camping or you're a caravan you should not be disappointed, close to the village shops pubs restaurants .

We recently stayed at Hillcroft Park again in a single lodge,no matter what accommodation you choose the hygiene is of high quality and comfortable compared to some sites we have stayed, the staff are friendly and very helpful. The site itself is well looked after very pleasing and is a pleasure to walk around. It is situated at Pooley Bridge which is a good start point to gain access to the lake district. You can also walk straight onto the fells, so no cars required, I doubt that you will be disappointed staying here.

Hillcroft always have competitive prices and the website is really user friendly. If I ever need to call the customer advisers they are always helpful and friendly and always go the extra mile if ever there's a problem. Delivery is usually next day and the updates keep me informed of the estimated delivery time. Our surgery donated some money for the recent Ukraine crisis and Hillcroft very generously gave us a great discount on the order we placed which enabled us to supply even more products. Thank you Hillcroft!!

We have visited here in the past so booked again for April . Then Covid struck and they closed . Despite much publicity on their social media advising they will refund deposits for those unable to rebook ( which as I work in a hospital I am unable to do ) they now point blank refuse to refund my deposit . Terrible morals in these difficult times . I WILL NOT RETURN EVER

Booked a lodge knowing that if they cancel we would be refunded In Full. They have now decided to breach their T&C’s and not refund when they cancelled on us & say re-book or lose your money! AVOID !!!

This company happily took a deposit for a holiday .
due to the covid 19 situation they decided to as advised to close the park .
I received an email offering a revised date - i am unable to rebook as my wife is a NHS worker in a local hospital and replied that I would require a refund . Hillcroft are now openly stating on the website that they will refund customers who cant rebook .
This is not true they have categorically stated they refuse to refund my deposit .
AVOID ! there are companies we should support post this crisis and there others who need to be exposed for what they are doing .
