K-mart online customer service refuses to refund the wrong sized sofa cover they sent over

The K-mart online customer service representative we contacted on chat refused to discuss a solution until their supplier responds to their inquiry, that taking another couple of working days. Yet, we purchased the sofa cover from Kmart, advertised by Kmart and not by their supplier we had no contact with.
So, Kmart should fix this for us by refunding and picking up their problem product. Kmart should raise the issue with their supplier separately.

They refused to discuss any further though even if we attached photos showing that the cover is at fault, extended tight above our standard 3 seater between the armrests.
We would have even exchanged it though for a four seater had they been willing to discuss... but they did not.

Not only that the state code of fair practices states that we are entitled to a refund, no questions asked, but the product dispatched is wrong, It is not a 3 seater cover in the range stated by Kmart.

Since it also looks like we cannot return a product to a
Kmart supermarket either, we are stuck with the wrong product. This is unfair.
Still, we did not expect such a response from Kmart. We will think twice before buying any product from them from now on. But we thought it was the Kmart we knew.
We still expect somebody from Kmart online, or not, to contact us to resolve the problem.

Inconvenient and Eyesore

Kmart Oxenford seems more like a warehouse inside these days. Not having a go at any staff because they're just doing their job, but the amount of trolley's in aisles in the shop is ridiculous, they're stacked in rows in shoppers way. Also recently 2 staff with pallet jacks in the middle of aisles unloading stuff. What happened to night fill in these shops it's as bad as woolworths Outside is just as bad with trolley's left all over the place and rolling into cars when its a bit windy. The unloading area is a disgrace its absolutely full of rubbish.

Introduction of chatbot designed to impede returns process

Since introducing their AI chatbot and forcing all interactions towards it (or waiting on the phone for hours), the AI chatbot has a) told me to upload photos (on phone) and provided no means in the interface to do so, b) told me that my order doesn't exist, and signed me out of the website - then when I try to sign back in, all my orders are gone, then when I scrap that and try again, ONE order shows up - but the bot still refuses to accept my correct order number, and refuses to put me through to a real person. Basically, there's no recourse anymore except to drive to a store and wait in line with 2000 other angry people, which of course is exactly how they want the interaction to go. They want you to not bother with returns so they get to keep their money. Used to trust Kmart for cheap goods online - but the last two interactions I've had with them have been things arriving broken, and no one interested in helping.

Ordered 8 items and was told all items where at a different store to what i normally go too then i got sent a message to say go and collect,.got there and there is only 1!! Wtf! Then I had to wait 30 minutes to recieve a refund for that 1 item that was in stock due to me not wanting 1 if I need 8!! Why can't they have a system that says when the stock is there in real time, surely it can't be that hard?? Wasting a lot of people's time ordering online if the stock isn't in

The store at Tweed Heads South is in a disgusting state. The floors are filthy, there is more stock on the floor than there is on the racks. You have to fight your way between trolleys and stock to get to the change rooms. Someone needs to take responsibility abd CLEAN this shop up

had a deeply disappointing experience at Kmart Fountain Gate today. I attempted to return a brand-new, unopened Lego base plate, and the process was made unnecessarily difficult due to staff behaviour and system failures.
The store’s app and internet were not functioning, had online invoice number and bank statement as proof of purchase, yet instead of offering assistance or alternatives, the team leader named Cara, responded in a dismissive, aggressive and unhelpful manner. The communication style was abrupt, unprofessional, and left me feeling as though I was being treated with suspicion for a completely legitimate return.
When I politely requested escalation to someone senior, I was told to “go to another store,” which is an unacceptable response in a retail environment. The overall attitude from certain staff members reflected a lack of customer service training and disregard for basic consumer rights and basic manners and etiquette.
This experience fell well below Kmart’s expected standards and raises serious concerns about staff conduct and accountability at this location.

Was given as a Xmas present a $55 anko…

Was given as a Xmas present a $55 anko cross cut shredder as I've been contemplating purchasing for awhile.
This one I assumed would do the job, so set it up and started to shred some confidential documents.
It states on the machine maximum 5 x 80gms sheets can be shredded which on the first go seems a bit too much, so I decide to do 1 sheet at a time which was way less stress on the motor.
After a couple of minutes, the shredder turned off, and I'd only achieved 13 sheets was a bit puzzled but after reading the booklet realized it was a safety thermo switch.
There was a 39 minute wait time before it re set which is not highlighted on the box or the shredder.
It took 13 hrs to shred 200 sheets of paper so conclusion, not fit for purpose unless you intend to only shred a few sheets every now and then
Waste of money

Kmart NZ....finally an outcome

Finally receved response....have been refunded: reason - Purchased the Panneled 5 their shelf unit online. This arrived in good time and when went to put this together have been provided 4 of one part rather than two with the other two required parts missing. Now we can't assemble this and all attempts to contact had met a dead end until this review. Sad it takes this to.get a response from a business.

Everytime I attempt to contact, tells me they are dealing with higher levels of volume and to contact via chat, email etc and we kept going around and around in circles - resolved 21/12/25

KMART ONLINE SUCKS SHIT

I put an order in for USB Charging Ports on a Thursday afternoon I never received an email money was taken out of my account as soon as purchase was done the next day i rang and after a 20 minute wait they told me to wait another 24 hours for a confirmation email on the Saturday i rang again and 60 minutes later i got a call back to be told they were out of stock and the money would be refunded back into my account by Monday end of business Its now Tuesday and waiting on another call back to find out when my Money will be Refunded so i can buy what i wanted through another Company I WILL NEVER BUY ONLINE THROUGH KMART AGAIN

Don't buy KMart's Tofu cat litter

Don't buy KMart's Tofu cat litter! The strong ammonia smell that it creates in the litter tray is enough to suffocate! So many bad reviews on here in general... it makes me wonder. I bought on the strength of KMart reviews but then found a more honest one off-site. I bought three bags online. The remaining two will be returned. I have already written a complaint to the company. I've been buying other brands of this type of litter for years with no problems. This one is not worth the few dollars you might save.

Kmart Whakatane is absolutely horrific

Kmart Whakatane is absolutely horrific. Most aisles blocked with heavy cages full of unpacked goods, some heavy, can't access the shelves at all or without pushing through piles of boxes and risking something falling on you, obviously blocking exits in an emergency - I don't know what safe and health policy this store has, probably none. It has been like this for months.
We are a registered charity dog rescue and needed an urgent order for dog items tonight in an emergency situation. We asked the store staff to help us access the shelves in store, since a lot of stuff was thrown there and we couldn't physically enter the aisle. We have been told to "place a click and collect and get them tomorrow" - even if we were in store and the items were on stock! So they were actually able to extract the items from behind the cages for click and collect but refused the move the cages or bring the items for buying in store. The store manager said "yep, we know we have an issue" but wasn't bothered. No one bothered to even try to help a customer in a desperate situation.

Purchased Cordless vacuum cleaner for a…

Purchased Cordless vacuum cleaner for a christmas present last year, last month it died. Messaged Kmart as it was still under warranty, they eventually answered after sending about three emails. They agreed to refund me my money, this was the 22nd October 2025, said it would take 3 to 5 days to show up in our bank account. It is now the 4th November 2025 and still nothing. Sent them another message asking them where it is, no reply. Their customer service is shocking to say the least.
