Better Than Any Speaking Partner I've Had

I used do language exchanges, but they were hit or miss-sometimes awkward, sometimes unhelpful. Langotalk gives me the same experience without the stress. The Al is always there, always helpful, and always crorrecting me in a way that actually makes sense. 100% recommend.

Better Than My College Language Class

In class, I barely get to speak. Langotalk is all conversation. I get instant corrections, actual feedback, and a review of my mistakes so I don't repeat them. My professor even noticed my improvement. If you're in school learning a language, usa this.

NO 'MANAGE SUBSCRIPTION' SECTION ON THE WEBSITE

Something is really off with subscriptions when it comes to Langotalk (i subscribed via website, with apple). There was no track, no proof of any payment. I signed up, started my free trial (couldn't use the site or even look at it before choosing the free trial+one year subscription option) and then after few days i've learned that the only way to cancel the subscription is via confirmation of the payment WHICH I DIDNT RECEIVE. So basically there was no way to cancel it, there is nothing in the settings regarding subscription which is already shady, it seems like they want you to just give up on trying (it's kind of a fun game: try to not lose your 80$ or more. time to solve this puzzle: 7 days, most people will start on the last day). Contacting them via email (reply time is 24-48h so not that bad) lacks specific information, you still don't know whats happening, it took me 7 hours of sending mails before we solved the problem. Somehow my subscription got cancelled itself so I am lucky I won the game. They use Paddle for payments and there was a problem on their side too. Still don't know what happened. Not really my favorite way to spend time. I encourage everyone to try alternatives since every other platform that I know of has just a simple button "cancel the subscription" and clear instructions. I advise to not support companies of this kind, as they probably want you to have a hard time figuring how to cancel, to get some extra money if you fail to do so.

Disappointing experience after good first impression

At first sight it seemed to work quite properly in terms of conversation. So I decided on the special offer life time subsciption. In the course of using the tool more deeply it turned out that it has surprising weaknesses (e.g. my clearly spoken Dutch was often texted as complete nonsense miles away from what I said, also AI answers were sometimes repetitive and / or not very conclusive). Then I suddenly was cut off my paid full access after successfully logging in and all my trials to regain it failed (nothing happened or I was referred to a service bot which was lost). So I complained via Paypal buyers protection (luckily I payed this way) and got a refund at short notice. This was the only bright experience after all :)

Very bad experience

Good morning,

I have recently purchased the Langotalk lifetime subscription and I am not at all satisfied with the product. The bots are not able to maintain a good conversation, because after a short time they come back to repeat things that had already been asked.

I have also found very serious grammatical errors such as suggesting the use of “s” in verbs that are clearly plural such as "my colleagues is...", or structures such as “people is”.

Finally, the bots are not able to properly recognize spoken dialogue, not putting punctuation marks properly, and then the application suggests using punctuation marks when it is itself not using them properly.

Recientemente he adquirido la suscripción vitalicia de Langotalk y no estoy nada satisfecho con el producto. Los bots no son capaces de mantener una buena conversación, pues al poco tiempo vuelven a repetir cosas que ya habían preguntado.

También he encontrado errores gramaticales muy serios como sugerirme el uso de la "s" en verbos que son claramente plural, o estructuras como "people is".

Por último, los bots no son capaces de reconocer bien un diálogo hablado, no poniendo los signos de puntuación de forma adecuada, y luego la aplicación me sugiere que use signos de puntuación cuando es ella misma la que no los usa bien.

Free Trial= Pay Up Immediately!

The joys of modern subscription services. I signed up for what was advertised as a free trial of the Annual Pro Access Subscription, only to be greeted with an immediate charge.

When I reached out to resolve this “minor” inconvenience, I was treated to a rather charmingly indifferent response. Apparently, refunds for in-app purchases are as mythical as the free trial I was promised. The developer’s ability to maintain such a level of detachment is truly admirable.

I can only assume that “free trial” must be code for “pay up immediately and enjoy the privilege of no refund whatsoever.” Marvelous business model. I’m sure people will be thrilled to hear about such innovative customer service practices.

Highly recommend if you’re fond of delightful surprises and questionable ethics.

Scam

Neither the app or the website provide a way to unsuscribe before it charges you after the free trial. Its clearly a scam. They say you have to find an email from paddle that was sent which has an unsuscribe button in it. I never recieved the email from paddle. Stay away. There's other apps out there that use a normal subscption method through the play store.

Save your money

The AI character bots and quizzes are repetitive ( same question multiple times in a short conversation or in a lesson quiz), unresponsive ( don’t recognise requests to not talk about x, not keep repeating questions, talk about y. Etc) and inaccurate. As an English speaker I find questions coming up in German unhelpful. The «  something unexpected happened » page has come up every single time I have used his app ( ie something has broken down and halted the conversation ). The ability of the AI bot to recognise speech is moderate (at best) I find the whole experience frustrating and definitely not worth the money.
At some stage AI may be a good way to learn a language. At this moment, it is not.

My langotalk subscription recently got renewed.While I am trying to login to the site , this site has been loading for past 7 days..No response from the customer support..There is no helpline number or any contact us .
I want to continue learning but how can someone learn without logging into the app or the site.. Basically nothing working with this site.

Using Italian: Great Idea but Wish Error Reporting was Easier

I enjoy the flexibility and the opportunities to have exchanges with the bots. However, errors are not rare enough and the only way to report them is through Discord, which I do not want to use, or an email, that I have to stop and find each time. There should be a report button right next to each text box that would let you report the problem with a brief explanation and continue working.

Fraud wesbite

Easy description, Scam. They sign you up for a 7-day trial, you cancel and they fraudulently take the full year's money. You request a refund and the refund is refused. You don't even have access to your subscription after this payment.

Where is my money idk, where is my subscription idk. All i know is that 80 euros have been stolen from me.

EXCELLENT Customer Service with immediate responses

I just want to chime in & share my experience with Langotalk's amazing customer service. I got the 7 day free trial and forgot to cancel it and of course I was charged. I reached out to their team through the email on their page several weeks after the matter and was able to get a literal immediate response and a full refund. They could see from their end that I hadn't been using the product and I really couldn't afford the $80 charge and they were nice enough to still refund it even though it was my own fault for forgetting to cancel. I think that speaks volumes for their integrity as a business. I did also like the service they provide with being able to practice conversation with the bots. I just can't afford it at the moment and wanted to try it for free to know if I'd want to come back & purchase in the future which I do feel I will come back to purchase later.

Absolutely rubbish AI voice to text…

Absolutely rubbish AI voice to text translation! I speak intermediate Spanish and it couldn't identify what I was saying and just converted my speech to gibberish so all answers from the chat were nonsensical. How can say Hi and Google translate perfectly understand me but this doesnt. Awful app unless you just want text conversations

Nothing you can't do with ChatGPT

Nothing you can't do with ChatGPT. The monthly cost is a bit excessive, given that ChatGPT is a free service.

If you use your mic in the chats, it will sometimes misinterpret what your saying (example "chi" instead of "shi") and there's no way to correct your input, which messes up the conversations.

You can't listen to your recordings afterwards (at least in the chats), to hear if your pronunciation is correct or not.

The chatbot will repeat the same questions when you prompt it to ask questions, and responses are awkward. Eg, something like: "My day was so-so, I found a stray cat" "Cats are cute" --- "I like (metal band)" "Oh then you might like (country band)".

It also seems to be intentionally difficult to cancel the membership, I had to mail support to get the link to the cancellation page.

Be very careful of this scammer service. They trick you into a free trial and then there is no option to cancel your membership before getting billed for a full year.
