I have just done the Battle of Okinawa 2 and have really enjoyed my experience. Michelle goes out of her way to make to tour as pleasurable and effortless as possible. With her being fluent in Japanese she can translate everything I asked effortlessly, which was great so I could understand things more. Totally value for money and the pick-up for the tour was very easy to find.

We (my wife and I, from the US) took the 8-hour Battle of Okinawa tour with Michelle and highly recommend it. If we had been staying in Okinawa longer we would have done more tours with her without hesitation.

The tour itself was very good; she took us to a number of out-of-the way sites that we never would have found on our own and we learned a lot. I am an amateur military history buff and my poor wife was just along for the ride, but she enjoyed the day as much as me, which I think shows you how talented Michelle is.

It was our first day on the island and an added benefit of the tour was the not only did we learned about the battle and the sites we visited, she was knowledgeable and happy to share about many other aspects of life on Okinawa today and in the past. She even helped us figure out some information we needed regarding a ferry ride. She was very personable and easy to talk to, responsive to questions, and funny. She was also not afraid to say when she did not know the answer to a question, which I honestly think is one of the most important qualities for a guide. I have been on tours before when the guide clearly just made stuff up or evaded questions they did not know the answer to, and it’s infuriating.

Michelle will also create custom tours for you, so if you know there is a particular theme of set of places you want to go, write and ask her about it! In conclusion, this was a great tour, well worth the money, and if you are considering it, I say, just go for it!

Michelle possesses a wealth knowledge about the WWII battles for Okinawa and the aftermath of the fighting on it’s people. She shares this knowledge clearly in a non biased, easy to understand manner. Her tour includes well know sights and many lesser known ones. The kind of places that I might never have found on my own. She navigates Okinawa's roadways efficiently and safely. Michelle is friendly, pleasant to be around and extremely helpful. Thanks Michelle for the delightful, educational and enlightening day. I recommend Laughing Shisa without reservation.

Very professional, flexible and service minded: best option for a great battlefield tour in Okinawa.

I spent the day with Michelle exploring and learning about the Battle of Okinawa (WWII). As someone who has visited WWII sites and museums in Europe, it was really special to see this side to it. I learned so much and am so grateful for the experience.

Michelle was an incredible guide who knew her history inside out and made everything engaging and easy to understand. Highly recommend.

Michelle has been absolutely wonderful in helping us create a personalized tour for my boyfriend and me. She came up with ideas based on the information I gave her about us, and she just nailed it in every way. The communication was fantastic — she replied quickly and thoroughly every time.

Michelle is such a sweet and lovely person. She has a broad knowledge and a clear passion for Okinawa’s history, which made the tour even more special. We even changed parts of the tour along the way, and she was so flexible and accommodating. The tour ended up being an hour and a half longer than originally planned, and she didn’t even charge extra for it.

Throughout the day, Michelle took such good care of us — she brought snacks, drinks, sunscreen, cooling towels, and fresh fruit. We didn’t have to worry about a thing. We had an absolutely fantastic day and couldn’t recommend Laughing Shisa Tours enough!
