Great classes so far. Would highly recommend.

We're expecting our first child and wanted to sign up to some NCT classes but my husband works shifts so attending a class in person would be really difficult for us so we looked at online options. We signed up to the NHS recommend one nowbaby which is ok for a general overview, but if like me you want to go into labour with your eyes wide open and understanding all your options then I feel a lot of detail is missed out. So I started searching for additional classes and found The Honest Midwife, the classes are live webinars unlike the NHS prerecorded ones so you can ask questions and the first one was free! And the detail is brilliant. It is what it says on the tin Louise is very honest and doesn't sugar coat it for you, so if you want to only hear that labour is a magical experience that will be over quickly without any bumps in the road then maybe this course isn't for you. But if you want to feel really prepared and understand what to expect at every stage not just in terms of the different signs and stages of labour but also what you're experience of the care you will receive on the maternity ward will be like, then you must sign up to these classes!
I've done 2 so far and feel much more prepared for what to look out for, what to expect when and how best to plan ahead for the different eventualities that might happen during labour and birth.

I initially signed up for the free class and found it so helpful and informative, immediately felt more informed and confident about birth. I went ahead and bought a bundle of classes, all of which have been great and Louise pitches them in such an easy to understand way but whilst giving you all the information and without bias. I also received a free box of maternity bits with some fab items in which was such a nice touch. I’ve really enjoyed the classes, I’m so glad my midwife recommended them, and I will be booking more classes for the postnatal period. Thank you Louise!

My partner and I had so many issues with this class:

1) The amount of actual useful information could have been passed on in 10 minutes but the class took 2 hours.

2) The audience participation was unnecessary, we're there to learn from an expert, not other people in the same position as us who don't know the answers - again, timewasting.

3) We're all adults attending the class, to single someone out to ask if they drink beer and what the parts of a beer bottle are called so you're able to 'turn it upside down and compare it to your cervix and uterus" was again, unnecessary - talk to us like the adults we are.

4) Telling the mum's not to wake their partner if they have their first contraction in the middle of the night because their partner needs their sleep was unbelievable. Firstly, most devoted partners would want to know that a contraction has happened. Secondly, the mum may want support as this is brand new, could be scary and painful yet the advice was to suffer in silence. Thirdly, we're all going to be lacking sleep around the birth of our child regardless.

5) We were told not to time our contractions - this has always been drummed in to our heads as birthing 101 but alas, Louise said it would add to the stress and you shouldn't do it. However, when the question was asked 'when do we call triage' she said to call whenever you want to but in the 10 minutes before you call them, time your contractions as they will want to know how many you have in 10 minutes - very contradicting information.

6) Louise spent about half an hour discussing contractions and how the birthing partner shouldn't panic yet wouldn't tell us when to actually go to the hospital. That question was specifically asked and the answer given was 'when it feels right' - when are we meant to know when it feels right, especially if we're first time parents!

I could go on and on about our frustrations with this class and would advise anyone looking for antenatal classes to go elsewhere. Oh and she was also trying desperately to sell a perennial massage oil to the class, telling us no other oils will be useful for this, it felt very much like she was working on commission for this product!

Fantastic class. We did the free natural birth and labour. Louise is a great teacher. No fluffs or frills, says it how it is. Easy to understand. Engaging and interesting for both parents. Have now bought a further clasd for topics that weren't covered in the free one.

I joined the free online antenatal class, Louise is responsive and I like the way she explained everything, straight to the point and that's what I need.

We’ve done a few classes with Louise and all of them have been helpful and informative. We’ve just done the infant feeding class and it’s given me a lot more confidence that I’ll be able to go ahead with my preferred method. She doesn’t push either option, but she does leave you feeling informed and ready!
We paid for a bundle of classes with Louise, but she does do free ones too which have also been great and I haven’t felt any difference in care or information given between paid for and free classes.

I'm always optimistic about doing on line classes... but I bit the bullet after reading brilliant reviews on this Lady. And I'm so so pleased I did, The Honest Midwife was Amazing! The 2 hours went so quickly but I learnt so much having a few days to go before getting induced, and now feel I'm ready.. and thats all thank you to you, cause you explained in great detail, made it fun to take in and understand and nice we can ask questions at any point. And she has a wicked sense of humour.

Brilliant class! This was my second time attending so that my partner could attend, as he missed the first.

The Honest midwife is an excellent teacher who knows how to lighten the mood with her jokes. Ans she says it as it is.

Such a good informative class and some laughs too. Great for both partners. No question is a stupid one. Would 100% recommend.

Firstly, we have taken 5 classes so far!
Louise is just brilliant. She gives you so much information, but also makes the class very fun. She goes into great detail during the classes, and also sends out notes to your email, so you will always have the information to hand.
We typically like that she asks us to put our cameras on, so she can ask us questions and we get the full experience. We always look forward to our classes, she gets people involved, its like having a good chat with a friend.
Great value for money!

Attending the online infant first aid course was really helpful for me as a 29 week pregnant first time mum to be.
It was a relaxed environment, which I was grateful for when the subject matter was quite tricky - as I have been finding these kinds of questions/topics very stressful. I'd definitely sign up for more classes like this and appreciated the notes being sent round too.

Good value for money and much easier to navigate / book than some other classes/resources I've been told about.

My partner Shelby and I thoroughly enjoyed the antenatal course with The Honest Midwife. She was informative, supportive, entertaining, and really knew how to connect with us soon-to-be Mums and Dads. She offers free classes, single priced courses and bundles all of which are affordable and worth it. We booked a first-aid course with her.

The fact that my partner watched with me made me happy he's taken note of the role he os expected to play when the time comes.

Brilliant informal class with relevant clinical based information but in a relaxed environment. It was broken down well and had some humour. Highly recommend
