Beware—MightyCause Engages in Fraudulent Practices!
I am the owner of a registered nonprofit organization and created a MightyCause account to fundraise for our charitable work. After receiving just two donations totaling $250, MightyCause suddenly closed my account without any prior notice, explanation, or justification. I did not receive a single email regarding the closure, nor have I been able to access the funds donated to my organization.
For the past 30 days, I have sent 12 emails requesting clarification and access to my legally obtained funds, yet MightyCause has completely ignored all my inquiries. There is no customer support phone number, no direct method to escalate complaints, and no transparency regarding how they handle nonprofit funds.
This is a clear case of financial mismanagement, fraud, and misappropriation of charitable donations.
As a result, I am preparing to file formal complaints with the following regulatory authorities:
Federal Trade Commission (FTC) – for deceptive business practices
Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) – Internet Crime
Complaint Center (IC3) – for potential financial fraud
Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) – for mishandling of funds
State Attorney General’s Office – for nonprofit fraud
Better Business Bureau (BBB) – to warn other nonprofits and donors
I strongly warn other nonprofits to avoid MightyCause at all costs. Their unethical and potentially illegal conduct puts charities at risk of losing donations with no recourse. If you are a victim of their fraudulent actions, I encourage you to report them to the authorities immediately.
MightyCause cannot be trusted to handle nonprofit funds ethically, and I will continue to pursue legal action until this issue is resolved.
