MSE Forum continues to be Troll central and they delete a post if you criticise them publicly
I did not use the MSE forum for some time because of rampant bullying and trolls that had multiple accounts.
I was told they had revamped the site and so I went back on only to find the same suspects still at it.
Basically it is an intolerance of others, not for nasty politics but if you criticise a supplier or complain about a regulatory authority who are supposed to keep things competive.
I think they just want to collect post numbers on their numerous accounts, so they dive into your thread and pollute it with negative comments.
I have seen some be really misogynistic when people are struggling with divorce and facing losing their home.
It seems to me that they have people who feel they "own" certain threads and they will not tolerate any opinion other than their own. So if they like say EDF energy and you complain about EDF they jump all over you.
I saw the same behaviour in the Tech area, again it seemed that it was the same nasty comments from different accounts. There are many techy solutions to things so one should be able to voice a diverse range of opinions.
I started to notice some of them used the same language and had the same interests, this gave me a "fingerprint" For example I found one person with around six accounts who posted every day in three forum sections. Post anything he does not agree with and he starts insulting, usually starting with a comment that makes one want to defend oneself.
I did some testing, gave it some time then said something I knew their previous forum account would jump on and sure enough they kicked off. I reported them to the MSE forum email you are supposed to report to but nothing happens.
The forum is also full of people who will PM you if you mention things they get a commission on, for example ask the community about a broadband problem with a supplier and the spammers will PM you a message with their own domain redirecting to an affiliate link.
When I tried to raise this conduct on the MSE forum, in response to someone else complaining about it they deleted my post:
"Hi there
We have removed the following post:
dksld sldkjflsd sdlsd
If you see a post that you think breaks our rules, please use the 'report' button to bring it to our attention, rather than commenting publicly."
There was nothing aggressive or inflammatory in my post, I simply responded openly and confirmed the behaviour the person was complaining about was common.
So you report people and they do nothing, complain in the forum and they delete it. So of course I will post here.
The messages are from an account that is not manned.

Vague and misleading
Mse recently carries notification of idmobile sim card only deal including a gift voucher. But I received gift order promotion link to my private email address....after.....I had completed purchase using link embedded in mse weekly email text.
Thus seems I will not be registered for gift promotion.
It's a mess, cleanup and clear up this procedure.

An absolute mess, I wish I'd not bothered with you
TL;DR - Do not use the money saving expert site to order anything through the Samsung Mobile Shop or Vodafone. If the product is faulty, you will pay anyway. It's disgusting.
I ordered a Galaxy S23 Ultra through the Samsung Mobile Shop (SMS) through your site using Vodafone as the network.
I appreciate that you aren't responsible for what I'm about to say, but you do promote this offer and I feel you should know what happens when it goes wrong.
I ordered the phone deal for £44 per month plus £199 up front. The GPS didn't work, the phone was replaced. The GPS still didn't work, so I took it to my local Samsung shop and they said it should be fine. The GPS still didn't work, so SMS returned it to be repaired, it came back and still didn't work. I use my GPS for work, so I'd lost a lot of money as well as time trying to sort all this.
I asked for a refund, they initially declined as was outside of the cooling off period, but I told them that's not legal as the phone never worked properly. They agreed. I was told twice the refund would come in 3-5 business days, it never did. They claimed the phone was never sent back. I proved it was via the DPD photo of delivery. I eventually, after about 6 weeks, got my deposit refunded, but only after having to get the fraud team at my bank to investigate. It took me over 20 hours in calls and writing and responding to emails.
Vodafone on the other hand initially told me only SMS could cancel the contract. Eventually SMS said they had after I notified them, received an email saying it was and that I'd be refunded for the 3 months of the contract paid. I contacted Vodafone today, they have stated that SMS has NOT cancelled the contract, that only I can do it and that I have to either pay the 24 month contract in full or get SMS to do it.
This has all the makings of a scam, where I am contractually obliged to pay for a phone that didn't work because that's not Vodafone's department, all while SMS are saying it's been dealt with.
I have a whole list of emails and transcripts from both companies detailing this procedure. My mental health has been terrible due to it. I have been completely screwed over by these people.
I ordered a Google Pixel through your site with ID mobile, no problems, couldn't be happier. But SMS and Vodafone have sold me a broken phone, threatened my credit rating if I don't pay for it, lied multiple times, and taken up many hours over a number of months. It isn't good enough companies can do this and you are, sadly, affiliated with them.
I have no idea how I'm supposed to proceed, other than to pay £44 per month to Vodafone for a deal that doesn't exist. I have happily used your website for years and the extent of this issue is why I can only put a 1 star review, as ultimately I have not saved any money on any previous contracts based on what this has already cost me and the cost I am threatened with still.
I'm happy to forward the emails and transcripts if you wish to know the extent of the incompetence and what I would call cruelty of these companies that make money from your advertising of them and you them.
Edit: Having an ongoing issue with two companies that are trying to financially ruin a customer isn't a Samaritans oriented call. They do great work, but having an impact on mental health isn't equivalent to wanting to die. If that was the concern, then making more of an effort to list ethical companies that don't cause these issues would be paramount, rather than listing charities that assist with the fallout these companies can cause. If the aim is to save people money and they are instead cost more of it, then the mission of the site is no longer being fulfilled. "We save you money, but if we don't due to recommending terrible retailers, call the Samaritans or Christians against poverty" is a pretty bleak response.

I think MSE is very informative and have been using the information on the site for years. The advice is usually sound.
I am a little concerned about the Raisin platform though. I applied for an account, and once it was up and running I applied for one of the fixed rate savings products. I was told I had to put all of the money into Raisin in order to make the product application. After a couple of days the application was rejected with a note saying that Raisin will give no reason for the rejection. I then chose another product with the same result. I had my money with Raisin for 2 weeks earning no interest. I then gave up and transferred the money back to Natwest.
When I contacted the banks directly (Tandem and Investec) to see if they could help I was told that they have no control over the decisions on the Raisin platform and knew nothing of my applications. As I have never been rejected for any Financial product for any reason in the past I wonder if Raisin do this deliberately to be able to earn interest on the money sitting on their platform.
Hopefully MSE will investigate this. Other savings products I have applied for (ISA and savings accounts) have never required funds to be made available before identity checks are carried out and the product is up and running and verified. I notice that this happened to somebody else on your forum

Can’t understand the negative reviews on here. It’s a brilliant site alerting my family to claiming for married man’s allowance and uniform allowance. I got my neighbour £7008 rebate on their council tax by following mse advice. I have used this site for years and it’s excellent all round. Thank you
An Absolute Liberty Taken
Update:
Further to my review below. I note note even the courtesy of a reply from MSE.
I leave it to everyone to make their own judgment. I am of the view that unregulated and unqualified 'experts' should not be allowed to operate in this fashion.
----------
I checked out the WSE website to compare personal loans, mainly out of interest to see how the market looks. I don't really need a loan.
I was asked if I wanted to check eligibility, which I did, to find out age criteria and income etc., but the site then did an Experian search as a loan application. This is unacceptable. I gave no express permission for any search of my credit file, which will now have a black mark on it. Thank you MSE!
Following this presumptuous action by MSE, I then checked their website for contact details to complain, but hey, no link or contact details. This guy, ML, is no better that all the other hustlers on the internet.
Mr Lewis, have this search expunged from my credit file. When I wish to apply for a loan, I will give permission for my file to be searched and not before. And make your team available to answer queries.

Had a quote online for Life insurance and selected to be contacted by email as I work nights.
I've had several phone calls since about my quote , all numbers blocked and reported as spam.
Poor Forum.
MSE in general is a great resource but beware the forums.
You may think you are asking a perfectly reasonable question but the site is littered with 'holier than thou' know it all's who will question your audacity to ask such a question.
There are some good people on there who will try and help, just be ready for the naysayers.
