Booked a table at the Leeds restaurant and was advised only 90mins - normally this is fine, but it took almost 20mins to be served for drinks, another 5-10mins for them to arrive. We ordered out food, and by the time this all came out, we were left with only about 30mins to eat and vacate the table.

The service was very slow and this was dissapointing as the food itself was delicious.

Arrived 10 minutes early at Mowgli London and were told abruptly to leave and come back again. When we were eventually seated, it was in a freezing part of the restaurant. Everyone around us were eating in their coats. Waiter said there was nothing they could do. Small portions, average taste. Not a very pleasant experience. Believe me, the hype is much higher than the quality. Cannot possibly recommend!

Very disappointed.
My husband has been nagging to go here for ever, and so we finally did.
Tiny portions, explained away as them being tapas, but the price point is not placed correctly for tapas!
Chicken on the monkey wrap was a little over charred ( burnt) and was sinewy slimy chicken though with more skin and sinew than meat. The roti underneath was dry, but the flavours on the sauce and chutney were pleasant though.
The butter chicken was nice enough but nothing to get excited about, and the rice and roti accompaniments were extra - and both were tiny portions.
Overall very underwhelming and overpriced.
Not happy about having 10% service charged thrust upon the bill and also an additional £1 for charity... which charity, and how do we know this is where is going?

Sat down for my birthday with my family,A waitress took our drinks order,
But forgot to ask my wife’s drink, assumed my wife wanted a coke that my daughters ordered
When we told her what she did, She never apologised, walked off in a huff, you can see her having a conversation at the bar with her colleague, rolling her eyes,served two other tables before even bringing my wife’s drink over to her, Super rude!!
My wife was so angered at the situation, We ended up leaving!😡

We recently went to the Cheshire Oaks branch. As always the decor and atmosphere is great. We have been several times previously to the Liverpool restaurant but this time I thought the menu was really lacking in vegetable selections. There were no “greens” at all and it was all a bit similar. Our food was nice but I think the menu needs a few lighter veggie options.

Mowgli in Lincoln on a Monday night. Having previously had a less than satisfactory experience in Nottingham we thought we would try the new one in Lincoln .Our experience was excellent .We were looked after by the excellent Elise. She explained the menu was prompt in serving our drinks.I had the Bunny Chow the flavours were great and my wife had Mother Chicken which was milder and very much to her taste. We had a side of slaw and Fenugreek fries which I highly recommend.
We then had caramel cornets and coffees to round off a lovely birthday meal. We will be back full credit to the excellent Elise and of course the chef

Ordered a masala chai, got a teabag, not what I expected at all, overpriced teabag, not worth it, service was poor, won’t be back

Been to Cardiff, Bridgend, Stratford & Bury St Edmunds, all been excellent, food, service, ambiance.
Looking forward to Norwich opening.

My husband and I visited the Mowgli branch in Stratford after a day of shopping, hoping for a delicious meal, and we were pleasantly surprised by what we received. Our wonderful server, Moyan, made our experience extraordinary by recommending dishes and drinks, ensuring our water glasses were always filled, and providing us with exceptionally quick service. I would highly recommend this restaurant!

Indian street food at its worst! I am of Indian origin and have never had a holy chow with this thick white bread! Once again told it was a South African dish from Nonna back home! Shameful as sugar added to their dishes & starters not healthy. Why not add a chapppati instead of thick white bread to holy chow

We arrived at around 07.45 and was told we needed to wait an hour for a table but we returned 30 minutes later to be seated by someone different after seeing several tables of people leave the restaurant and a few couples arrive and get seated before us.

We ordered from the vegan menu. It's good that the business has a separate menu to make it easier for people avoiding animal products in their food. So for this Mowgli earns a star for being considerate.

I ordered the tiffin pot luck that promised a mix of carbohydrates and vegetables while my other family member ordered the Holy Chow which takes its name from the South African bunny chow. Roti was also ordered.

The food.

I was defrauded of my money because the roti was just a cheap and nasty cold tortilla wrap that tasted sugary and melted in the mouth like all cheap bread although it was dishonestly passed off as one. I wanted to cry. I was craving the chewy, stretchy, earthy deliciousness of a roti and was looking forward to it. I was truly scammed.

My tiffins contained a vegan keema, a lentil daal, chickpea curry and a tiffin of white rice with a few nigella seeds scattered throughout the grains. I realise that legumes are from plants, but where were the vegetables? I was hoping for a few greens. Perhaps some broccoli or spinach or kale or even a sweet potato. Anything. All I got were cheap carbohydrates. The red lentils tasted of nothing. The chickpeas were strangely bitter tasting (too much coriander?). The keema was some nasty processed soya and I forget the flavourings. Why not just have a mixed vegetable curry as vegetables were promised? I could have done without the rice as anyone can boil a pot of rice and I prefer to eat brown rice anyway. We should have the option of ordering rice as an extra if we want it as I was hoping to just have the curries with roti and not bland white basmati rice with most of the nutrition stripped out of it. Oh well.

The bunny chow was a joke. It was some sort of tomato based mush that had no resemblance to the delicious Durban curry that goes in the Durban-invented bunny chow. Anyone can go to a South African shop in the UK and buy Durban curry spices and make your own version. Durban vegan curries are either legume based such as a mix of beans or vegetable based with green beans, peas, cabbage or spinach, potato, cauliflower or anything else available like squash. It has a wealth of spices like cinnamon, garam masala, turmeric, ginger, chillies, black pepper and is spicy because Durban is home to many south Indians.

The meal was a thorough disappointment. When I reviewed them on TripAdvisor, I got a response to email the company. The person who responded to my email ignored my complaint about the tortilla fraudulently passed off as a roti and said that the food was based on a family recipe. There was no
responsibility taken for the poor quality of food nor the tortilla passed off as authentic roti and my negative experience was put down to my subjective taste. It was outright gaslighting. Mowgli owners just do not care about their reputation because this would require having some respect for the people keeping them all in employment.

Give Mowgli a miss, is my advice.

Took my mum for her 80th.Booked a booth 3 weeks before but we were seated in a busy pedestrian part of the restaurant,they did reseat us within 5 mins though to a better spot…until a family brought in their dogs(8pm Friday) which proceeded to clean themselves(dogs,not family) just before the starter came.One waitress stroked the dogs,then preceded to handle plates straight after.I asked to be reseated again but most of the decent tables were reserved…as we spoke to the manager,the dog went to town again,nibbling at his nuggets.I explained to the manager who basically said “it’s a dog friendly restaurant,what do you want me to do?”not the reply you want really.After paying for the smallest CAN of beer and a wine(£15) we left and went to a Thai restaurant around the corner and had a beautiful meal…at least they disguised the dog with a nice satay sauce..when did this world cater for dogs before paying humans.

Very cold inside, had to keep our coats on, first time visit, was advised to order 3 /4 things from the menu, didn’t distinguish between starters or mains, we expected a staggered meal but it all came at once, tiffin box, lamb chops, cheese toast and a chapatti with chicken wrap. Sadly most of the food was lukewarm, partly due to the cold plates and dishes. The food was not as spicy as rxpected but we couldn’t eat a lot of it due to it being cold, I spoke to the server and she offered to put the tiffin tins under the heat lamps, which made little difference. Left a lot of the food as it was now cold, I spoke to the manager and she offered 10% discount, not really what we wanted as we had looked forward to this food. The whole impression I got was they wanted to get us out quickly as it was a later booking, other observation was I object to paying £5.50 for a 250 mm can of lager. The chicken was all thighs and the curries quite tasteless. Sadly won’t be visiting again, was going to join the loyalty club but not needed.

Excellent service, food and management for my daughter’s birthday dinner. Thanks she had a fantastic time.

Went to the Leeds restaurant last night which turned out to be an underwhelming experience. The portions are tiny compared to the cost. Most of the dishes are too sweet and sickly. The dishes come out in dribs and drabs which meant my wife received her 3 selections while I had to wait another 10 minutes for mine to arrive. It was difficult to get the attention of any waiters to order drinks, in the end we had to get up and find one. They did act on our feedback by reducing the bill, which was the only positive, however it was still wasn’t anywhere close to value for money. This was our first visit to Mowgli, there won’t be a second visit.

Mowgli food is amazing with a beautiful atmosphere. I often go to the Stratford branch and the entire team are lovely. Please can I give a special thanks to Tanisha who is always so kind.

We went to Mowgli Street Food on Charlotte Street, London. The food was absolutely amazing, couldn't fault it at all. However, it definitely felt like we were being rushed. We sat down at 6pm and were told that they had back-to-back bookings, and that they would need the table back by 7.30pm, to which we responded that it wasn't a problem, we'd be done by then as there were only three of us. We hadn't seen each other in a few months, so were looking forward to a lovely catch-up with some good food.

While I can appreciate that the wait staff were eager for us to place our order so they could get the table back, whenever we asked for another couple of minutes, we got what seemed like a very passive aggressive sigh and what I can only describe as a sulky walk away from our table.

We did return the table by 7.30pm as requested, and while the food was amazing, the quality of service we received from the staff working there definitely left a bit of a sour taste in my mouth.

Like I said, the food was great, but I would think twice before looking to book there again if I wanted a nice catch up with friends as we felt rushed from the moment we sat down.
