We attended a murder 57 evening at Hunton Park hotel. I can only describe it as an absolute mess. Firstly the room was brightly lit. A lot of people attending had dressed in 1920’s fancy dress, b... Ver más

Waste of time
I was given the wrong food, only to sit down and see the actress eating my meal! No offer of a swap. Actors were terrible. Brownie was cold. You investigated a murder and there was no point to it. The butler comes out and you decide who did that instead. (It was Rose, don't waste your time)
Avoid. The Angel Hotel is very shabby and the actors are terrible. Their interactions are a waste of time and there is no point to the evening.
Terrible and I spent lots of money.

Murder Under The Mistletoe East Sussex
There are a lot of ways they could improve this show. There needs to be a well thought out script which makes sense, actors who know their parts inside out and are prepared for any questions they are asked (we were given a lot of incorrect information and lines were fluffed constantly), and they need to create a positive atmosphere at the start rather than warning the audience that they will be penalised for bad behaviour (one person was singled out like a naughty child because they spoke while he was was speaking at the start). We felt very on edge right from the start and although we made a lot of effort throughout we found it difficult to extract information from anyone or take anything positive from the show.
Hotel looked brilliant ,wasnt
Hotel looked brilliant, very classy, reality was a mouldy dive . Actors were poor ,story poor , Christmas carol..... avoid boring , makes no sense
We went to the Coventry Telegraph Hotel…
We went to the Coventry Telegraph Hotel last friday. A fabulous venue. The food was good and service was excellent. We all really enjoyed the murder mystery event, it was very well played out, the clues where very good. We felt it was an inclusive event, the actors where entertaining. I was delighted to win a prize for best costume. I Would highly recommend
Murder 57 - Murder Mystery eve York
Would recommend. We stayed at The Elmbank hotel in York which was excellent. Great courtyard room, well kept and a good atmosphere. The Murder Mystery event was well managed - the actors moved from table to table and there was plenty of evidence - in writing and visual - to keep us busy. The explanation for why the murder was committed a bit confusing at the end but that was a minor thing. Will definitely do another one.
BRILLIANT. Had a issue with a booking for December…
Had a issue with a booking for December this year. After contacting them, they have exceeded my expectations, and resolved it, more than I expected.
Will definitely use and recommend again.
The actors were great and very…
The actors were great and very convincing. The meal was very good (Harlow Accor). Unfortunately only 2 tables participating but that did give us lots of opportunity to grill the suspects 😀. Will definitely book another one.
An amazing evening
An amazing evening. Brilliant actors and many laughs. Throughly enjoyed this. Would highly recommend. We went to Haydock holiday inn for this and the meal was lovely too.
Obnoxious and loud
Our son bought us the murder mystery experience as a Christmas gift and never having done one before we were excited and a little nervous about what to expect
We stayed at Warbrook house which was pleasant with lovely grounds and the three course meal provided was lovely
However the murder mystery was a joke
My husband and I were sat right next to the speakers for the microphones and found the noise unbearable. It was far too loud and the 'actors' using the mics were shouting into them and were loud enough to be heard without amplification however 1 of the actors didn't use the mic and no one on our table could hear him above the noise of the others even when he was talking directly to us
The 'invitation' for the event had a different surname for Sir Giles to the one his name tag said - was this a clue? No it wasn't - just another inconsistency of which there were many
We were told we'd have an actor on our table but there was over 60 people at our event and not enough actors to go round so we didn't
We were told to take notes and ask questions but no one really answered anything. The Inspector got details wrong - said a note was anonymous when it was actually signed and kept telling other cast members to shut up. Not the way an actual police officer would address the public.
At the end we were asked to fill out who we thought the murderer was and the persons with the best proof of evidence would win a box of chocolates and a certificate
By this point my husbands head was throbbing from all the unnecessary noise and we just wanted to escape. It was obvious who the villain was so as a joke I filled out the form saying 'It was obviously someone with a grudge - that I'd used my exemplary detecting skills to deduce this and that although the experience had been a laugh we were both leaving with headaches due to the seating arrangements and the volume'
Sir Giles then read my comments out to the whole room belittling us and asking if we felt guilty for not filling out the murderers name. He also said if he had 2 prizes we'd get one but he didn't so we'd have to make do with paracetamol!!! I felt bullied and extremely uncomfortable. Why read mine out? No one else had theirs read out. He was treating us like naughty school children and it was totally uncalled for and derogatory
He then went on to Thank his colleagues who apparently only met at 6 O clock that evening with just an hour to prepare their characters and performance. Really? No wonder it was so amateur and haphazard.
I was so upset that our son had spent such a large amount of money on something so poorly put together and unprofessional
We would definitely NOT recommend Murder 57 to anyone
First the good news ,,,,,,
First the good ,,,,,,, the hotel Mercure Bowden Hall hotel ... the food and choices were very good and the service and staff obliging.
Now the bad......the murder Plot and cast.....firstly we were promised a character on every table... and there were only 6 tables ... we didnt have one, in fact one table had two characters.... so this was disappointing
Also on many occasions microphones were used by the actors when they were having arguments ...why ?? that not only looked naff but because the microphones were not used properly..too close to the mouth...... the conversations between the actors were inaudible ..... there were only 35 guests and the room wasn`t big so microphones were totally unnecessary and looked silly.
Several `rows` / arguments`...between characters microphones were not used... but the actors voices were not loud enough or commanding enough to be heard on tables away from the immediate scene as we guests were all seated away from the scene this was disappointing ... and the characters needed to `throw their voices` .. but they didnt or couldn`t and it looked and sounded amateurish .. but most disappointing of all was the denouement ... it was read out again un necessarily with the dreaded microphone,,, and we couldnt interpret a word. she was saying ??? very poor again
Sorry to be so critical .. the `actors` did their best and the company on our table were nice people, and we enjoyed the overall experience .. but my comments above did spoil the evening ..... i hope you take on board my complaints...but if your standards drop... you will lose out as there`s a lot of good competition out there doing the same thing
DO NOT RECOMMEND!!
We were very excited to book our Murder Mystery event, having looked forward to it as a special birthday celebration. However the day before the event we both came down with severe D&V and had to ring to cancel - or try to postpone/ rearrange our booking (for the joint reason that we had repeated vomiting and also because we did not want to spread the disease). We were VERY DISAPPOINTED when we were told that only cancellations 8 days in advance could be refunded or changed without a cost. We are absolutely appalled at this - we could not help being ill and therefore to lose out on 1/4 monthly salary (this was a special treat for a momentous birthday celebration) - and would DEFINITELY NOT recommend Murder57. A total rip off, lack of support or help when requested for change due to illness which was not our fault. Totally unprofessional and unjust. WOULD DEFINITELY NOT USE AGAIN OR RECOMMEND!!
They are lucky to get even 1 star.
They are lucky to get even 1 star.
Where do I start???
The murder we had to solve wasnt even the murder that happened at the start so we only had about 20mins to solve the murder but then again it was the most obvious person so didn't really need that long. The actors didn't seen to interact that well together, long purses, and the actors hardly came to our table.
The 4* hotel was of very poor quality, with wallpaper hanging off, mould in the bathroom, brown stains on the carpet, chips on the toilets, off beer ect as if this wasn't bad enough murder 57 haven't even bothered to respond to my attempts at contacting them (no direct email just a submit enquiry).
We paid a lot of money to do this for my partners birthday however, the standard was nowhere near worth the money and I feel we were really let down by the event and by no response from murder 57
Disappointing Mr Carroll’s Christmas Experience
We booked the Mr Carroll’s Christmas Murder 57 experience, for approximately £200, at the Brooke Mollington Banastre and it was disappointing from beginning to end.
Firstly, this hotel is not fit for purpose and spoilt the experience from the moment we walked in. The place smells of feet and damp and our room was cold and draughty. The bathroom smelled unclean too and the shower curtain was stained, mouldy and smelled strongly of wee. The bed had a huge uncomfortable dip in the centre and the springs stuck out. The spa facilities were unmanned and the lockers had no locks provided - the changing rooms had a very school locker room style vibe and not somewhere you want to relax. We decided to drive home and not stay the night as the smell of the whole place and the cold triggered my asthma and made my chest hurt.
In terms of the meal, the calamari was like rubber and such poor quality. The roast of soggy and over cooked and seemed cheap and of poor quality. The desserts were nothing exciting here and tasted like something from the supermarket freezer section. It was really disappointing and everyone on our table agreed that it wasn’t worth the money paid.
Finally, we were underwhelmed by the actual murder mystery aspect of the evening. The actors were talented and stayed in character well but there was no effort in terms of their attire. They just seemed to rock up in anything and it didn’t gel well. I was excited by the evidence and the clues provided but in the end, they didn’t even tie in to the final reveal of the story so it seemed pointless. The story had no real justification and just wasn’t very clever. It also felt rushed at the end which detracted from the enjoyment.
I can’t believe we paid nearly £200 for this experience. It was absolutely rubbish and I feel completely ripped off.
