As an experienced lawyer

As an experienced lawyer, I cannot believe that I did not check Martindale Nolo out as to reviews before I agreed to pay them $820 for 20 reviews. They are all junk. Most never answer the phone or return the call or respond to an email. Some hang up on me. Some say they were only responding to a "survey." What a deceitful practice by Martindale Nolo.

Bad leads

Bad leads, tried over 60 leads and not one was good. It's a complete waste of time and money, money spent on buying leads and time wasted trying to follow up on bad lead You lose on both ends. Sucks!

Terrible service

Terrible service, and shady business practices. The "leads" are not well vetted at all.

We were initially persuaded by a sales rep Jimmy Le, who made numerous, false claims and promises. When we attempted to follow up and address issues/concerns with Jimmy Le, he vanished, refusing to respond to e-mails.

But, back to the "leads" that we received... many came from people that never requested to speak with a lawyer, were not interested in hiring a lawyer, were inquiring on behalf of someone else, etc. We've spent hours disputing leads and requesting refunds. About half of the requests were fulfilled, while the other half were denied and no refund/credit given. When you appeal the denial, they almost immediately respond upholding the denial without justification.

Do not waste your money or time!

Doesn't work--won't issue a refund

The people who work there are very nice, but I'm not paying for very nice, I'm paying for leads. I've given countless consultations, and even spoken to leads who wouldn't even give me their info, because they didn't trust me. I have a very high conversion rate normally. This system just doesn't work. These people are doing internet searches for their matters because they cannot afford to hire a lawyer to do the research for them. They don't have money. They only want a free handout and help for free. I requested a refund, but they refused.

Read the reviews FROM OTHER LAWYERS…

Read the reviews FROM OTHER LAWYERS (not those seeking free advice and not from people who use NOLO for forms and the like), they are universally 1 star. Take the hint. I only wish I found this site BEFORE I paid for leads. The deserve less than zero stars, and based on their comments, they know its crap.

Attorneys stay away from this company

I would never do business with Martindale Nolo. Although they asked me to try them for a month and charged me $1,062 for 20 legal leads, they charged me another $1,062 just 8 days later. They kept sending me useless leads

Attorneys: Avoid the Pay Per Lead Service. It is Trash

The leads are trash. The leads are from people who can’t afford even the most modest of fees (at least half already had court appointed counsel and were declared indigent), fake/spam sources, were people seeking free legal advice who would lie on their submissions, or from consumers who don’t understand what practice area they need and select the wrong option (example: a crime victim mistakenly asking for criminal defense lawyer to sue the perpetrator). Nolo will deny your request for a credit about half of the time even if it blatantly falls into one of the categories eligible for credit under their policy. The leads are basically people who Googled a generic lawyer phrase, found Nolo or one of its affiliate websites, was asked for their email, phone number, and what type of lawyer they were looking for, and it is then forwarded to a subscribing attorney without any other vetting or clarification. At $50-$60 per lead, it is not worth it in the slightest. There are better ways to invest your money.

Did not work for me.

I talked to some very nice NOLO representatives who were very convincing. Unfortunately, The product was no good. While I did get referrals all were a waste of time. Virtually all contacts had no money to pay even the lowest retainer. Some contacts appeared generated or fake.
I signed up for one month only to try it out and was shocked when it auto renewed. I was out $1,200.00 got zero for it. They would not refund the auto renew.
I do not recommend this company.

Lawyers say no to my toxic mold cases that's killing my friend

Let me tell you if you want or need a lawyer for a big toxic mold case forget contacti h these people. I have tried getting a lawyer multiple times and they either dont contact me or if they do they say sorry can't help you. And I tell them I have all the evidence to win the cases and still no. Lawyers are suppose to help you but it seems they sure the hell dont want to help me. So sad.

Mostly fake and fraudulent leads in my opinion

In my opinion, these leads are mostly fake. A significant percentage of the leads come after 11 pm. This tells me Nolo may be paying people in Europe and Asia to fill out forms. The names, email addresses and comments tell me that the leads are written by people with poor command of English.

It would be easy enough for NOLO to block foreign leads (as I do on my site) if they cared about fake leads.

A few of the leads are real, but only Nolo knows that percentage. They sure aren't going to tell you which ones are fake.

If the leads are systematically fake, they get away with it because we are mostly small firms that do not have the ability or time to review this. However, I would love to get a few of us together and start a class action against them.

Please feel free to call me to discuss. Peter Grubea, 716-465-1415

Absolutely the biggest waste of money

Absolutely the biggest waste of advertising money in my 24 year legal career. I have been a Martindale Hubbell client for over 15 years and have been quite satisfied with their services. However, the partnership with Nolo is a failure and borderline scam and is causing me to revisit whether I want any association with the Martindale brand whstsoever.

This is a scam

This is a scam. A number of "Leads" I was provided confirmed that they hadn't been in accidents, had never submitted anything requesting a call for representation, and when I requested a refund providing documentation from a "lead" who had never submitted his email or phone number, hadn't been in any accident and actually lived about 2000 miles away confirming the fake lead, MartindaleNolo offered no refund and kept all of my money. They count on lawyers being too busy to sue.

Martindale NOLO is a rip off.

I agree with the other reviewer, I have wasted $1000. Thus far, I have NO valid leads. I have requested credits for leads that were for cases that were for out of my state of practice. I chose to pay for only Georgia cases since I am only licensed in GA. Nolo has sent me numerous Tennessee cases for which credit was denied. Be aware (or BEWARE) that, despite "out of geography" being one of the "good" options for granting a credit, my request for a credit has been denied because "I did not send them sufficient evidence that the claim was a Tennessee claim" (in other words, my statement to them was not good enough)...If you give them your money just know you are going to be frustrated, upset and angry at them (and at yourself because you have been warned). It is a total scam. Just for clarity's sake, if they send you a lead and the "lead" will not respond to your phone calls or your emails YOU GET CHARGED THE $56 EVEN THOUGH YOU HAVE NO OTHER WAY TO CONTACT THE LEAD. Their failure is NOT a basis for an appeal or a credit. They will make money and you will spend your time responding to leads far outside of your practice area.

Not recommended

After a year, I was requested to pay full price (~$100) to get access to the files.
If you plan any updates or have access to the files, it will add up a lot of $.

Horrible Lawyers

I called Elliot Schlissel for a consultation about a Mediation. He spoke to me for only five minutes. He was of no help. I told him, very nicely, that I felt like I was pulling teeth to get any information from him. He proceeded to reply, very rudely I might add, "then get someone else, and proceeded to hang up!

You have got to be kidding me. I wrote a Review, reported his Law firm to The Better Business Bureau and if NOLO does not take them out of their web search, I will report NOLO to The Better Business Bureau. How can you offer a Law firm, whose Owner himself, is down right rude. And please do not write back that you are sorry. Write back that Schlissel is no longer in your data base.

Absolutely disgusting that a person is in such distress that an attorney responds like that!!! Do something about it!

Lawyers. Stay away for NOLO for leads!!

I too wish I can give them a 0 star. I wish I read these reviews before signing up for Nolo. They asked us to put in $800 first, and will deduct $ for each lead they sent us. All the leads are garbage. All the people going to Nolo were looking for free answers and free help. We ended up spending a lot of time answering questions for Nolo and get charged $40 for each call. Nolo lead credit is a joke. I feel like they rip lawyers off of our valuable time to answer questions for free for them. Save your time, don't join NOLO. I want to report them to the BBB.

ATTORNEYS -- DON'T USE NOLO FOR LEADS

At least for attorneys seeking lead services, Nolo is absolutely awful. They do not care about their legal clients and run the place like a rip off mill. Avoid them at all costs. Leads are very weak, and they fail to honor their refund and credit policies.
