Old dog new tricks
I've had 37 years of car driving and getting into bad habits. The last ten years or so I've exclusively driven automatic cars.
In addition to that I have had so many injuries over the years through sport that some may have thought learning to ride a motorbike is a step too far.
The phrase "you can't teach an old dog new tricks" could easily apply.
I started with CBT and was pleased to get signed off that first time.
A little practice of manoeuvres on my 125 and a couple of hundred miles riding was my prep for DAS.
Motorcycle theory test completed 1st time.
I found the mod 1 skills difficult to pick up but left the training with a little hope having performed one or two good u turns.
Mod 1 test day started at Kings Two Wheels Kiddlington, with module 2 training.
Rich asked if we had any worries or things we needed to work on and the u turn was my shout.
He incorporated lots of tight junctions in the road practice and topped it off with a very focussed U turn session at the stadium car park.
He started by talking me through the turn then talked me through my first one.
Something had clicked because rather than not being able to get around in time, I turned and found myself stopping too far from the curb. I'd managed a really tight u turn so followed it up with some more precise turns.
Figure of 8s were practiced before the u turn and with the same result. Polished, even figure of 8s.
Any nerves about the test had gone so much so that the thing last thing I had worries about, the high speed avoidance, were forgotten until I pulled the bike up outside of the marked test area.
Module 2, more practice and then the test.
Rich continued to identify and work on the small issues I was having. When the test time came I was relaxed and knew that if I failed it would be down to a silly mistake or an accumulation of mistakes.
The test flew by because I was so relaxed.
A couple of minors, but passed first time.
The result seems almost insignificant as I found that my riding, control and awareness had improved so much. It felt so smooth for much of the time and a world away from the total novice I had been just a few weeks earlier.
The mindset that has been instilled may be the biggest win. Even when out in my car I am being more vigilant than I ever have before.
Thoroughly recommend Oxford Motorcycle Training.
Dave was great taking me through the set up on the phone and the way Rich worked through the training and tests was bang in sync with my thought process.
Once I get a bit of riding experience, I'm booking on for enhanced rider scheme training with Rich as I have learned so much and know I have a lot more to learn.
Thanks guys!
QuickStart Kidlington
From booking, to training, advice, communication, all steps with Quick Start Kidlington was so professional. All instructors (Rich especially) were knowledgeable and gave amazing teaching. Completed my DAS with them with no issues and would highly recommend them to anyone else seeking to do their licence, you will not be disappointed.

OXMT SHOULD BE YOUR FIRST CHOICE!!
Booked with Dave the owner over the phone for my mod2 very helpful and knowledgeable and they book it for you so was a lot faster. I started in the morning went out with Rich the instructor had my test at 11:00 and passed first time and I don’t ride much and very little training so to pass first time was fantastic and I put it down to Rich and his training skills his communication and encouragement was really helpfull, I say this as a new be but the bike community is so friendly and everyone wanting you to do well etc.
I can’t recommend OXMT enough thanks for everything guy fantastic work stay safe out there.

Hard course amazing training
Although the DAS course is a hard course to complete under the guidance of the team at OXMT i was able to pass first time after limited bike knowledge and experience. The team at OXMT was incredible very patient with me. The lessons are for mod 1 and 2, 1:2 and give both riders the same amount of riding hours in front and behind. Under their guidance honestly anyone can pass as long as you listen and take on board what is said.
Amazing experience!!!!!!
OXMT

A very comprehensive, knowledgeable outfit
A very comprehensive knowledgeable experienced and professional outfit with various different instructors taking me from Mod 1, through Mod 2 successfully. There are options for different bespoke training one to one as well as the mod one/ mod two training. The instruction and professionalism of the instructors equipped me as well as possible for the assessments. Thoroughly recommended and would use again.

10/10
Bigs thanks to Quickstart taking me from zero-to-hero, having never ridden before to full unrestricted A Licence.
Dave was able to get me booked in for DAS scheme with very short notice (2 weeks) so I started at the end of March doing my CBT in Oxford.
But unfortunately through no fault other than my own I failed my first MOD1 attempt (blame the cone 🤫).
Retest was booked in straight away and in April passed MOD 1 with a little refresher training before hand. Then onto MOD 2 in June which passed first time.
Huge thanks to all my instructors, Wayne, Steve, Rich, and Dave. You are all super helpful, patient, and all round good guys. Training was at a good pace and well catered to different abilities. The level of instruction was perfect and can't fault any part of my experience with Quickstart.
I have already recommended to two friends, and also highly recommend Quickstart to everyone who reads this.
Hardly drive the car anymore!

Completed my CBT today. It was a great experience made even better with my excellent instructor Wayne who was fantastic from start to finish. Thanks also to Dave for making all the arrangements. Highly recommend these guys.
Great company and team.
Thank you to Steve and Richard, i’ve passed my motorbike tests. They were both so patient and helpful with improving my riding to ensure i am safe on the road. Dave was also helpful with getting all my dates and tests booked. All three of them were very kind and i would recommend this company for doing your DAS.
Passed my DAS with these guys
Passed my DAS with these guys. Whole experience was 10/10 throughout. Steve made sure our confidence and ability was above test standards, ensured we weren’t tired when we took our tests, was super knowledgeable about all aspects of the exam and riding in general. I couldn’t recommend these guys enough, showing up prepared and professional in the sad winter weather with a smile on their faces ready to teach.
Excellent instructors and service
Excellent instructors all round! I passed my CBT with Wayne and had a great time. He was very patient and provided excellent training to make me feel ready and confident to get out onto the road on my moped.
I then had two 1:1 lessons with Steve who helped me transition onto a manual 125. Another brilliant instructor! I feel I got excellent training that made me both safe and confident to get out onto the road with my bike. Highly highly recommend doing your CBT and training with Oxfordshire Motorcycle Training.
Great and amazing instructors!
They are amazing and really want you to learn getting confident on your ride. Thanks to Emma for my CBT and Steve with who I passed both Mod1 & Mod2 and I'm now riding with confidence. Really enjoy being with great OXMT instructors who I highly recommend!
Thanks again! Elise
I Would Not Hesitate To Recommend OXMT!
Where to start with OXMT?
I would not hesitate to recommend them for a CBT and DAS any day of the week!
My first CBT was done with them 3 years ago, and Em was a fantastic instructor - patient, clear, concise and very respectful. She took as much time as I needed to make sure I was comfortable and confident.
When it came to doing my DAS this year, it was a no-brainer to reach out to Dave at OXMT.
Signing up and finding a date, talking about the requirements and what the course entails etc. was a good experience with Dave, as he is a nice chap.
However there is quite a clear lack of formal organisation which is a bit behind other riding schools - no online system or diary, no email confirmations etc. - communication is quite messy with Dave as it’s through texting and often details are missed.
That being said, when handing over to instructors it’s a totally different story. I had the good fortune of receiving training from both Steve and Rich - who displayed utmost professionalism throughout.
Steve particularly is very organised, keeping me well informed of my training dates as well as my test dates, times etc. and texting detailed reminders and confirmations to me. Likewise with Rich, although I had less training in his care his communication was clear and organised.
Steve’s training for Mod1 and Mod2 was fantastic - he installs confidence, and really drills you on your problem areas to iron out any kinks/bad habits early. I was paired with another student who went straight from CBT to DAS having never ridden before, where’s I’ve ridden for 3 years on a 125. Steve balanced very well the skills gap between us to ensure we both received the attention and training we needed. On top of that - he’s just lovely ☺️
For any prospective female students I’d also recommend Steve as he’s respectful, patient and kind - and NOT the patronising male type; I’d feel more than comfortable recommending female friends & colleagues to train with him.
Overall, I would still not hesitate to recommend OXMT to anyone thinking of doing their DAS!! The quality of training is fantastic, the choice of bikes (Suzuki SV650 for unrestricted licenses) are also fantastic - great bike, solid road presence, good performance (lots of torque) and those all important heated grips for winter training! 😍
Thank you again Dave, Steve & Rich for getting me through my DAS and getting me on the road - see you out there!
