I just want to add to the review I sent on 24 February. The card which you sent to us last week meant a lot. We are still very upset at having dear Alfie put to sleep but we take a lot of comfort from the way he was put to sleep.
Dr Emma's kindness lingers on.
We now have Aflie's ashes which we will scatter on a favourite walk on the Downs, when the weather is better, where his spirit will always run free.

Dr Emma

Dr Emma came to our home this week for our lovey dear pug Teddy. We were uncertain if we were making the right decision to end his suffering after months of watching him get steadily worse. Dr Emma was kind, softly spoke and sensitive and Teddy felt at ease with her there, he enjoyed all the belly rubs. She talked us though what we would like to do, she watched videos and saw pictures of Teddy and the life he lived and took notice of all the family that were involved in his life, nothing was rushed.
He had the send off that we think he would have wanted, no stress, no going into a vets clinic that smelt funny, just calm peaceful and surrounded by the people he loved in a place he felt comfortable. The little touches ment alot to us, even the card we received today mentioning all the family. We can't thank you enough. X

Compassion

Compassion - It had never occurred to me that Vets don't do End of Life Home Visits any more. I rang the Vets I had used for 30-35 years to book an End of Life visit for Jay-Jay - 17 and a half years old - as the time had come. They did give me a telephone number - Vets2Home. I rang the number and was answered by a vary caring young lady who was dismayed to say that they could not get anyone to me in time for me to take Jay-Jay to the Peaceways Pet Crematorium just past Ringmer. I had just said Ringmer and they knew I meant Peaceways. They gave me three more numbers of companies that did 'just' end of life home visits but none of them could help me that day. I rang Vets2Home back, got the same helpful lady and asked if I could arrange something for Saturday morning. Yes she said but I have some good news, one of our vets has re-arranged things so that he can get to you between 12 noon and 1pm which would give me enough time to get to Peaceways. My response was Yes Please and so it came to pass that Dr Jo of Vets2Home took care of Jay-Jay in his last minutes. I cannot reccomend them any higher. Thank you Dr Jo and the team for your quiet compassion, it was so very much appreciated.

So kind and caring we couldn't ask for a better ending for our beloved dog.

On Sunday morning I called Pets2Home which had been recommended by my neighbour. Our dog was 14 and I had been up all night with her as her legs had given way the morning before and she had been vomiting her food up since the Saturday lunchtime. She also had a heart condition. I had phoned an emergency helpline and was advised to go to the emergency vet but she was too heavy for us to carry to the car and we couldn't think of anything more traumatic. So we called Pets2Home. Allegra answered the phone was lovely and efficient and turned out to be a dog walker we had used in the past and knew Bonny. We were offered an appointment that afternoon and explained the costs involved. Dr Suzen came and was brilliant. So kind and understanding. She gave a prognosis and then went out in her car while we decided what to do. We came to the decision not to let her suffer and Dr Suzen came and administered a sedative and we were able to sit with Bonny and it was a very peaceful ending. We were very impressed with the care and attention and really for the service we received it wasn't expensive.

Dr Jo was respectful , gentle, unobtrusive

Dr Jo was respectful, unobtrusive and gentle on arrival and coming at such a difficult time for me he made the whole experience one of calm, gentleness and Mimi was sent off peacefully. I Loved my 20 year old cat so much but had to make that dreadful decision but Dr Jo made it easier for me explaining gently, being there, moving back respectfully it was peaceful. Thank you there are no words to say how much it meant the time you gave me with Mimi before, during and after.

DR. JO IS THE ABSOLUTE BEST

At some stage very soon, we will have to make the dreadful decision to let our beloved 15 year old Poppy go. The hardest decision anyone has to make. Poppy was scared to death visiting the vet so we had made the decision to have her put to sleep at home by Vets2home. She had mobility problems which were getting worse. So our vet suggested this company. We called them for advise and Dr Jo came to see us. What a fantastic sympathetic man he was. We hadn't really realised how bad our girl was. In a very calm gentle way he explained exactly why Poppy was as bad as she was. He made us understand that the decision was not far away and helped us decide what we should do for the best for our beautiful girl. Dr Jo was worth so much more than the amount we had to pay for him to attend. I just don't have the words for my gratitude I feel for this man. He was an angel for us. He made us realise that perhaps Poppy was closed to the end than we realised but he did it in such a manner that he didn't decide for us but helped us to decide. I will be forever grateful to you Dr Jo a d when Poppys end comes within a possible 4 weeks, I so hope it is you that comes to do it. With much love. Pam, Tim and Ian Clarke

Dear Poppy’s family,
Thank you so SO much for these absolutely wonderful words and unexpected review for our indeed very special Dr Jo. He will be so touched to read your words, like I personally was also. I am so humbled to have been working with Dr Jo for over 10 years and incredible grateful for you sharing your experience of him and our service here. Many pet owners still don’t know a service like ours exists. After 20 years. Many many thanks, and much love to you all and particularly to Poppy 🐾💜

Wonderful service on a terrible day

We are very grateful to Dr Suzan for coming to our house at relatively short notice on a terrible day for us. Our beloved cat Mishmish had suddenly become very ill over the preceding week, many trips to the vet were pointless and he was in pain and suffering. On the day this reached a crisis we were all distressed and desperate. Thanks to Dr Suzan, Mish was able to die gently and with dignity in his own home surrounded by those who loved him and carried out to be buried in his own garden. Dr Suzan was exactly the right mix of sympathetic and supportive and professional. We will always be grateful Mish did not have to go through the ordeal of being dragged to a vets surgery and dying somewhere strange he would have hated. Dr Suzan made this possible and we would recommend her to anyone who finds themselves in the awful position we were in that day.

A Very Good Experience

We had booked for a vet to attend our very sick Hugo but as it happened he collapsed and died before Dr Emma arrived. Nonetheless when she came she was wonderfully caring and sympathetic and made the whole experience a lot more easy than it might have been.

Terrible experience with Dr Suzan

Terrible experience with Dr Suzan who was argumentative, unprofessional and discriminatory. Complained and was offered just £40.
In summary: I was told I would be called between certain times and wasn’t.
On arrival Dr S was argumentative and harangued me for several minutes.
I told her I was autistic and she said ‘we are all autistic on days like this’. No we all grieve. It isn’t the same.
She would not get on with the euthanasia and persisted in arguing and acting in a high handed, controlling manner.
She went on to tell me about her having a breakdown. Total unprofessional at a time when I was waiting to put my dog to sleep.
I felt inhibited and intimidated in my own home.
I told her I was close to asking her to leave. I would have if I had not needed to proceed for my dogs sake.

Would not use again and would not recommend despite a fine experience with another of their vets just 4 months ago. Clearly this vet is not fit to be working atm.

Service cost me £397 plus over £300 more for cremation.

Response to my complaint disregarded most serious aspects and offered me a casket worth £50 or £40 refund. Am now disputing with my credit card company as Vets2home promise a peaceful, gentle, professional service which I did not get. Total breach of contract. Will also be reporting to RCVS

Dear Anna,
I am very sorry (& actually very hurt), that you felt your experience with using my service, Vets2Home, for the third time and that my personal compassionate service to you, as well, was so poor that you felt this public response was necessary, and after we have been in contact directly on numerous occasions, trying to remedy this with you.

As we spoke about, I had no idea while I spent an intimate hour with you - & your beloved Amos - that you felt my service was so poor, that you felt it was appropriate to share very private information shared in confidence, and appropriate to put in a very public forum and space like this?

I shared something very personal, in total confidence with you, as you were telling me about your autism.
So to acknowledge this, I briefly mentioned my personal experience of adrenal burn out/stress in 2019.

That was a really tough period for me to come back from. Then Covid on top. For us all and all the suffering that took place.
Luckily, for me, we are a great and small family run practice, for 20 years (this year!) and I had all the support I could’ve ever hoped for. I bounced back quite soon.
Thank you for your very public concern.
Also thank you for all your feedback and indeed prolific dispersion of your personal experience - what a profound impactful experience we both had.

I am sorry for your loss and profound grief of losing your Amos. Luckily I know he had the most loving and peaceful goodbye, falling asleep and in your arms 🌹
With love,
Suzen🐾

Disappointed

Please have someone who can be compassionate answering the call & know about the company!

Asked for more information from incident over 12 weeks ago!!!
I called the number which stated you were open until 9pm that night ( I rang before 6). Man on phone did not have a clue - didn’t know where any of the vets Were!!! or when they could contact me. I advised I had a 20 year old cat who wasn’t well, and felt it was her time. Explained she couldn’t walk & wasn’t eating etc. the man said it didn’t seem an emergency so to leave it until maybe Monday. Sadly, she died during the night. I don’t know how much pain she was in.
Look forward to your comments in another few months!!!!

A kind and loving end for our precious girl

Vets2Home's service was a massive support to us at short notice. We had to make the heartbreaking decision to end our beautiful 11 year old Dalmatian Bettie's life when she took a sudden down turn with the chemo she was having. We had only, a week before, felt such hope for a possible extension to her life with this treatment and then suddenly we were seeing her deteriorate and suffer and had to make decisions no-one ever wants to make regarding a loved member of the family. Through all the upset, worry and shock we found ourselves speaking to the most caring and calm Vets2Home person on the phone. Nothing seemed difficult to arrange. Dr Suzen arrived and gave us time to say when we were ready for the first sedation jab. I can't say any of it was easy, of course. Seeing Bettie drift into a deep slumber, saying all her favourite things, cuddling her, kissing her, deciding when to call Dr Suzen back in for the final jab then seeing Bettie taking her last breath. This was all immensely emotional and distressing for me and my daughters. I'm crying as I write this and it has taken me a month and a half to be able to do this. We are heartbroken💔 Bettie was in good hands. The basket she was placed in with her own blanket made her look so peaceful. The small candle and verse Dr Suzen gave us was such a caring touch. I think this was a beautiful and loving end for our poor girl. Even though I wish with all my heart that she was still here. I miss her everyday 😢💔 I wholeheartedly recommend ringing Vets2Home. Even for advice. They truly are angels and will help you through this devasting time.

My sweet beloved Chihuahua was…

My sweet beloved Chihuahua was struggling & I knew that his heart was failing. I wanted to give him the best send-off. I owed that little dog so very much. So I asked around for companies who euthanized dogs at home. People gave a massive thumbs up for this company, so I called. It's the hardest thing to do & I was already crying when I called but the receptionist was calm, and thoughtful, explaining things to me. On the day, I was given a time frame of when they would be there. When Dr.Joe arrived, he was quietly spoken and explained what would happen. I had already paid so that was taken care of. I then put my Faithful little friend on my lap in his favourite blanket, and Dr Jo administered the first injection. Then he almost faded into the back ground, as I stroked and talked to my dog and said my goodbyes. He looked at me a couple of times and it was an "it's ok and a thank you" look. He began to drift into a deep sleep. Dr Joe, then had to give him.the final injection and squeezed Ted's paw to make sure that he was in deep sleep. Again I felt like it was just me and my little one. Dr.Joe said that he was going to go and make a little bed up for Ted to keep him safe on his final journey. When I was ready to pass him over, he took him and put a cover on him and he looked peaceful. He then took him away to be cremated.
Honestly, it's not easy at the best of times but my boy deserved to go, in a place he knew, he wasn't stressed. This company treated me and my faithful little dog with huge respect. If I could mark them higher then I would. My home feels empty, but I know he fell asleep in my arms, which has given me the opportunity to grieve. You can choose to have the ashes scattered, have them delivered to your home, or delivered to your vets. I chose the latter as I owe them for the last medical bill. Love from your pet is unconditional, and I wanted to honour him in a way I felt would be easier for him. It was.
Thank you to all concerned at Vets2home, the empathy and compassion shown is truly appreciated.

Saying goodbye to our much-loved cat Rolly Pop

Saying goodbye to our much-loved cat Rolly Pop was one of the hardest days of our lives – but Vets2Home made the experience as gentle and peaceful as we could ever have hoped for.

The support from Amanda and Andrea in the office was incredible – every email we sent was answered quickly and with warmth and understanding. Andrea even called us at the exact time we had asked, to arrange Rolly’s visit and keep us informed right up until Dr Jo arrived.

Dr Jo was simply amazing. He texted us on the way, arrived on time, and immediately put us at ease. Although we were full of sadness, his calm and empathetic approach helped make the experience less frightening. Nothing felt rushed – he explained everything clearly and gave us all the time we needed. Rolly passed away peacefully on his favourite spot on the sofa.

Afterwards, we were given the opportunity to let Rolly’s sister, Mitsy, see him – which was gently encouraged to help her process what had happened. It was such a thoughtful part of the experience, and we’re really grateful for it.

We later decided to change the cremation arrangements, and the team updated everything smoothly and confirmed it all by email – no stress at all, just kindness and efficiency.

Every single person we dealt with showed so much compassion. We are incredibly thankful to the whole Vets2Home team for the dignity, respect and care they gave to Rolly and to us.

An angel came for my beautiful girl. Her name was Dr Suzen.

An angel came for my beautiful girl yesterday. Her name was Dr Suzen. It wasn’t a moment too soon. She hardly knew she was there and she drifted off to her forever sleep in my arms. It was the most beautiful thing I’d ever experienced.

When you know the time is right, and you will know, Vets2homes allow you to spend time with your loved one at home in their last hours, without putting them, or you, through the stress of travel and a clinical environment.

I know this is a regular review and Dr Suzen must see this every day but she somehow made it personal and made us feel special, as if Tizzy was the most precious creature, which she was to me.

I cannot rate her highly enough. You have once chance to say goodbye and Vets2Homes make it a beautiful memory.

Compassionate and Caring

Dr Jo and all the team who arranged our beautiful boy’s goodbye were absolutely wonderful. From my first phone call to our home visit they handled everything with care, compassion, true professionalism and respect. They truly are angels at such a sad time. Couldn’t have asked for a better send off for our boy. He passed peacefully eating chocolate biscuits and the sweet touches they provide show how much they care for you and your pets. We can’t thank you enough for everything you’ve done for us and supporting us through such a sad time .x❤️x

The kindest way to part

Vets2Home helped me and my Wife say goodbye to our adored and irreplaceable love, Bert, an eleven year-old Whippet, who had to leave us sooner than any of us –except perhaps Bert, who knew his own body—had ever expected

We were so sad and scared and shocked and -quite honestly- unsure how to proceed, when it became apparent that Bert had, without warning, reached the end of his life with us, and yet Vets2Home were the right measure of sensitive, and strong in the way they guided us through this saddest and last of our days as a family of three

I can’t speak much about those last moments other than to reassure you that Vets2Home let us say goodbye in a way that matched the tone of the life Bert lived, that is to say, at home with us (and lots of cheese) and free of stress. Bert loathed the vets, it made him sick with stress and the drugs they gave him made him sicker still. Never would we have allowed him to die alone, on an operating table, through the sole use of a heart-stopping drug, or subject him to subsequent months of dwindling returns, living out his final days miserable and undergoing stressful and uncertain procedures with corporately owned businesses more interested in money than animal welfare

Our recent loss still utterly breaks my heart. Me and my Wife are still processing what has happened but, being able to look back and think “Bert lived his life to the absolute full, and, when the time came, we were strong for him, and let him transition whilst being held by the ones who loved him most”. We have Vets2Home to thank for that
