Great experience with Sam Attwood at Peter Cooper Shirley. He was very friendly, had a great manner and professional, smooth handover with our brand new car! Highly recommend – 5 stars!

Shocking. I paid through the nose for a service (at Hedge End). The car went in with perfectly legal tyres, but they claimed that it was out by 1mm and refused to deliver the car back to me. Their tyre prices were extortionate and they wanted £35 to fit a wiper blade that the said I needed (incidentally also only a few months old and cost £12 from Halfords)! I was interrupted constantly when trying to discuss the issue on the phone and told that they wouldn’t deliver it and unless I collected they would keep it over the bank holiday weekend. DO NOT USE PETER COOPER FOR YOUR SERVICE.

They have already told me that they will respond to this review by stating that the tyre was illegal, but at MOT very recently my trusted local garage told me that it was good for several months. I know who I believe. Even if that was so, it does not excuse the constant interruptions on the phone, nor the extortionate prices for all of the ‘extras’ that they deem necessary. This is very far from the ‘peace of mind’ that I signed up for.

Really professional service received from Sam Atwood from start to finish. He made what I thought was going to be a stressful experience, simple, easily understandable and completely stress free. Thank you Sam

Katherine was fantastic from start to finish, I wasn’t sure what I wanted when I walked into the show room but she answered all my questions and concerns, very happy with my new car.

We were really pleased with our experience whilst purchasing our new car. Sam in particular was really helpful, approachable and able to give us time to discuss what we needed without rushing or pressure. I would highly recommend them and will return in the future.

Disappointing experience and poor diagnostic service.

I booked my car in with Peter Cooper VW (Hedge End) due to a clear drop in fuel economy and rough running. Despite obvious symptoms, I was told the car was “operating normally” because no fault codes were present.

The assessment felt superficial, with no real investigation or explanation. I later identified the issue myself, apparently a known VW problem, which raises questions about the quality of their diagnostics.

Although I wasn’t charged, I was advised to carry out additional work that another garage confirmed was unnecessary.

I raised a complaint but it was dismissed without any meaningful engagement. Overall, I did not feel valued as a customer.

I wouldn’t recommend paying main dealer prices here, look for a good independent specialist instead.

EDIT - my original review reflected my experience having already raised the level of service with Peter Cooper’s after sales manager, so the reply below is not helpful.

Awful.
Paid £99 deposit to go and look at/test drive a used VW Golf in Chichester branch.
Arrived, car on forecourt, windows open - looked around inside, absoutely reeked of polish or something - clearly trying to disguise bad smells as the car was filthy (the worst I've ever seen on a main dealer used vehicle - air vents clogged with horrible muck etc).
Took it for a drive anyway as I'd travelled but decided it wasn't for me - not only had the car clearly not been cared for/cleaned much by previous owner, turns out it was 6 months+ and 5k miles overdue on service. Also, despite being advertised as 2 previous owners I was told in showroom that it was 3. Was also told when queried the brakes that it hadn't been through the workshop yet, as well as not being cleaned. They'd had the car 2 weeks - how can it be advertised as an Approved Used VW in that state and with no workshop checks???
Anyway, here I am a week later still chasing daily for my deposit to be returned. Awful. Not even the courtesy to reply to my chase up emails nor return calls or call back when promised.
Put me off Peter Cooper and VW for life now.
(by way of context, I drove a Honda that wasn't quite right and got my deposit back within 1-2 days it having been dealt with immediately - that dealer also did what he said he would when he said he'd do it - I was never ignored).

Went to Peter cooper jaecoo and brought a J7 with Sam, really good service! Really pleased

I recently had a fantastic experience at Peter Cooper in Shirley, thanks to Chris McDade. From start to finish, Chris provided excellent service — he was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the whole process smooth and stress-free.
He took the time to answer all my questions and made sure I was completely comfortable with everything before finalising the purchase. Nothing felt rushed, and his professionalism really stood out.
I’m absolutely delighted with my new Jaecoo 7 — it’s a great car and exactly what I was looking for. The whole experience was handled brilliantly by Chris.

David Oakley (Southampton Shirley branch) was an absolute pleasure to work with. He responded to my enquiry almost immediately, talked me through the car in detail, and even sent a personalised video addressing every point I’d raised, he genuinely listened. He explored multiple options with me and did everything he could to help. The excellent service continued right through to collection, and even at the end of a long day he took the time to walk me through everything with patience and care. A car salesman at the top of his game who gave me real confidence in choosing the right car.

E5 in at Chichester branch for first service, safety recall and couple of minor issues. Sam was excellent - checking car in at 730am, called to update when completed and when collecting.
