Mostly good
Iv been a member at Calcot reading for 1year and overall it’s a good pure gym !
Positives -great classes with Will & Joe who seem to have a great following after a few short months
Negative-too many kids hanging around the equipment need to be moved on /no loitering
One member of the team shouldn’t be aloud to take fitness classes as lacks enthusiasm and oddly enough doesn’t look like he cares with absolutely no vibe !signs should be put up reminding people of personal hygiene.
Overall it’s a decent gym which I understand is under new management.

Super friendly vibe and great kit
Always great. Puregym Calcot has an amazing friendly vibe and super friendly staff. Kit availability always good during the day. Changing rooms and kit always well maintained and staff on hand if needed.

Puregym Reading terrible
The Reading gyms - Calcot, Basingstoke, Caversham - are all now pretty awful. Calcot is marginally better than the other two b/c newer, but going downhill fast. The bathrooms are terrible, they smell, the toilets are never working, litter everywhere, showers never working (no hot water, switches broken), even the gym equipment is showing its age. What a pity, I hope management can do something. I'll be looking around at other options.

Unsure if I can use the gym or not
On completing the joining form at the beginning of the year, I had added that I have a slight disability brackets it was just to make the German wear that I am partially sighted). However, doing so has not allowed me to access the pure gym app because it continuously stops me from progressing and suggesting I email the site manager. I had done this on day one but still to this moment not received anything back for an induction or any communication.
Last week I had been near to the gym and so I popped in where I have been informed by a new manager that my membership will be sorted. I had confirmed that I do not require any further assistance, it was just a note to inform the gym just in case I needed to know anything due to my disability. I'm still unsure if my past can work or if I am able to enter the gym without an induction as I still have had no communication.

Well equipped
I like PureGym, been using it in the past. Well equipped, spacious, broad class options. No contract which is quite convenient if you want to stop the gym for any reasons. Would recommend.

Great gym with good vibes
There are so many things I love about this gym. The staff are friendly and the vibe is unitimidating. My only criticism would be that I would like to see more dancey, aerobics and high energy classes in the morning when I feel it would help boost my mood. In my ideal world I'd go to dance or Aerobics 9am every morning!

I tried joining Pure Gym
I tried joining Pure Gym. I was given an offer of no joining fee and half off the first month. However, when I tried to take up the offer (which was before the deadline), there was an error and I was told to contact member services. I contacted member services via email (there is no phone number) and over 3 weeks later they have still not got back to me.

Gym layout and equipment is excellent
Gym layout and equipment is excellent. Not always easy to find staff. Noise level from equipment and music can be too much in peak times. Member of staff didn't show for an appointment I presume booked and no staff at the induction point. Waited 15 mins. I left.

Joining was great and the trainers are…
Joining was great and the trainers are lovely. Only downside was the music in my first class for so loud that I couldn't hear the trainer at all and it was a bit overwhelming when nearly keeling over as so unfit. Hopefully they aren't usually so loud, else I may need to wear ear plugs! Great class though.

We’re afraid it's true, our gyms simply are very popular and so can become busy especially at peak times, but this does fluctuate throughout the day and from day to day.
Members can also use the members area via the PureGym app or website, to see how many people are in the gym.
With regards to your point raised about the shower temperature; we always appreciate and take on board member feedback., and will make sure this is reviewed in club. Thanks, PureGym
