We just recently returned from a trip to Thailand organised by Emma from Rickshaw Family. We had an amazing trip! Emma and her colleagues communicated all the details really clearly from the outset and listened when we wanted to adjust the trip or had queries. As for the trip itself, it was full of wonderful experiences which were really varied, including cultural, adventure and nature highlights. It seemed that these had been carefully chosen to provide an authentic, yet fun experience of this amazing country whilst respecting the local people and environment . It was a fantastic destination for a family trip. All arrangements on the ground worked smoothly and the local teams were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. We always felt looked after whilst maintaining our independence. The accommodation chosen was comfortable and characterful. We especially enjoyed Rimping Village in Chiang Mai. Overall, we had an amazing adventure and have made some wonderful memories. Many thanks to Rickshaw Travel and especially to Emma.

Holiday of a lifetime — and our guide Mahesh made it!

Two weeks in Sri Lanka as a family of four, and it was the holiday of a lifetime. The itinerary was beautifully balanced — Sigiriya, the beach at Pasikudah, the hills at Ella and Haputhale, then Gal Oya and Kandy.
The highlights were too many to list. The elephant safari at Minneriya. Elephants and crocodiles at Gal Oya. Jet biking on the sea at Pasikudah. Flying through a tea plantation on a zip wire in Ella. A stunning one-to-one with a temple elephant in Kandy. Sharing a King Coconut on the road every day with our guide.

Kind, patient, professional, endlessly knowledgeable and hard working.

Always on time, drove expertly, nothing was ever too much trouble.

He showed us the real and authentic Sri Lanka and was wonderful with our daughters.

Mahesh is one of the loveliest humans we have ever met. He became family to us. He will forever be our family in Sri Lanka.

We can’t wait to go back.

This is our 6th trip we have booked with rickshaw. The staff have personally visited the destinations and have experienced the itinerary so their advice and knowledge are invaluable. Hannah listened to our requests, she knew what type of holiday and experiences we enjoy and she pencilled an absolutely fabulous adventure for us in Guatamala and Belize. She found fantastic upgrades for us at the beach.....We can't wait to go!

Knowledgeable advice given and seamless booking process

Quite last minute, I decided to join my daughter in Morocco after she had completed her volunteering. I found Rickshaw travel through a Google search and from the start they listened to what we wanted/ needed from our trip and worked with us to put the perfect package together.
Tha accommodation was beautiful and authentic and the 2 excursions we did ( a cooking class in Marrakech and a walking tour with a visit to the fish market in Essaouira) both of these were excellent.
We had a small problem with a transfer but it was quickly sorted.
I will be contacting them again when I'm ready to plan my next holiday

Good service, they do holidays a little bit different

The staff are so professional and well informed about the country they specialise in.Everyone is so helpful and polite when you ring up to make an enquiry.

Our specialist Gemma really listened and understood what we wanted - a family holiday for teens to have their first sight of the big five - not a honeymoon! The accommodation options she found were great, including a night on the crater rim, even at short notice and the itinerary was really well put together with lots of game viewing and less driving. Really well thought out from someone who obviously knows her stuff.

We had an extraordinarily gorgeous hiking trip in the Azores arranged by David @ Rickshaw Travel. Our plans were scuttled by a general strike in Portugal, and despite all the travel disruption, he managed to get the whole plan, including island-hopping and car rentals, back on track. Vacation extraordinaire, thanks to David @ RT.

Our trip to Chile, Bolivia, and Peru, organised by Rickshaw Travel and its wonderful local partners, was nothing short of fantastic. Everything was thoughtfully planned, smoothly coordinated, and filled with unforgettable moments.

Chile gave us breathtaking landscapes — from the dramatic Atacama Desert to peaceful lakes and mountains — with guides who made every stop meaningful.
Bolivia was a true highlight, especially the surreal Uyuni Salt Flats, where the scenery felt like another world.
Peru wrapped up our journey beautifully with its rich culture, warm people, and the magic of Machu Picchu, a moment we’ll never forget.

We used Rickshaw Travel for the first time to plan a two-week holiday to Japan in May 2026. We were three school friends, in our early 80's, and naturally, we had our reservations.

After my initial phone call with David at Rickshaw when I gave him a basic idea of things we wanted to include, length of the holiday and budget, we took a back seat. David came up with full itinerary, suggestions, hotels, excursions, etc. He also reassured us that we would be fine with public transport.

The locations of all the hotels were excellent, right by the train station, other transport means and restaurants. We were very happy with our accommodation.

The Guides were great, very helpful/accommodating and gave us recommendations for additional sight seeings. We had to contact Rickshaw's local agent HIS in Japan a couple of times and they managed to solve our problems very promptly.
A WiFi unit was available for our use throughout and this was a very great asset and a must.

We would have no hesitation in recommending Rickshaw Travel and would gladly use them again.

Rickshaw Travel organised the most wonderful tour in India for me and my sister.
The places we stayed in were first rate. Always spotless with the most friendly staff and wonderful food.
We had the most experienced driver from Delhi to Jaipur called Ali. I have never witnessed such skill and competence in a driver on such tricky and sometimes dangerous roads. We felt very safe with him. He also spoke perfect English so we chatted all the way.
The tour guides were first rate too, bursting with information about the sights we saw and made the visits so interesting for us. Their English was top rate too.
The overnight train ride from Agra to Varanasi was a real treat as it hurtled along at top speed throughout the night.
Varanasi was an absolute delight with early morning live music followed by a 6.00am yoga class with over 100 people every morning. The hotel was on the banks of the Ganges and once again had wonderful staff, and terrific food.
We even found a bar around the corner where we could go and have a cold beer in the evening and watch all the hustle and bustle go by.
We had a really brilliant time. Thank you very very much.

I was looking for a travel company to help me put together a very special trip to Sri Lanka, which had to be designed around revisiting all the best that the island can offer in 2026 and what I can remember myself and from cine film and transparencies from the early 1960's when my family lived in Colombo and spent much time touring the island and especially the East Coast beaches and hill country. I contacted so many companies who really just wanted to shoehorn me into prearranged holidays and telling me to just stay in the South West beach resorts. And then there was Rickshaw Travel, they listened, they were interested and within a few weeks we had a very good itinerary. We had a budget and we were not time limited as we are retired, so we came in under budget and including travel time it was all packed into 18 days.
Every step of the journey they went out of their way to help me achieve my goals and where they couldn't move heaven and earth to fit my requirements they either offered alternative solutions or we left some specifics til we were 'on the ground' and our incredible Driver/Guide Chanaka would usually work his magic and make the impossible entirely possible!
I would definitely recommend Rickshaw as the starting point and not waste time with the competition as their whole concept and website is just a joy to use.
We stayed at 10 amazing hotels with Deer Park (Giritale), 98 Acres (Ella), Wild Trails (Yala), the Radh (Kandy) and Galle Face (Colombo) as the top five but not one was a disappointment or bad choice. The quality of service, food, setting, accommodation was entirely exceptional and we can only thank the Rickshaw team in the UK and in Sri Lanka for making our dreams come true.
