My story

It was on May 23rd 2019 that I was notified of another ‘average speed-camera snapshot’ of my driving in excess of the speed limit yet again (84 on a 70mph Dual Carriageway).
This portended a further three penalty points and a fine – taking me to 12 points within three years. My daughter ‘googled’ and came up with the firm Roadtrafficlaw Solicitors ( hereinafter rtls) and phoned (despite the fact that we were outwith normal business hours). This was the first time I had spoken to Steven Farmer MA Hons; LLB; Dip,LP.

At that time, Steven advised me of the consequences, the time-frame, the legal position and the broad options I had available to me; I was facing a 6 month disqualification and a fine due to ‘totting-up’ to 12 points in the legally-defined period of time.

All this happened 8 months, or so, before the onslaught of the pandemic. The Corona-virus scenario was to be significant for me in that my case, at court, for this offence (committed on 14/05/2019) was not ultimately disposed of until 06/08/2021.

This resulted in a client/lawyer relationship with Steven, his colleague Andrew Martin and their company which was to last 20 months. I had read many good things about this firm and, in particular, about Steven Farmer. All these accolades were substantiated in the fulness of time.

Steven was always available to speak or (at least) return a call in person or have someone do so on his behalf. Andrew, similarly, was a calming influence and the office colleagues were most punctilious in conveying messages to and from the legal team.

The social circumstances of the time, added to the attendant stress of the situation, were always contained by a reassuring, helpful, ethically priced and flexible sprit by those at rtls. I can say that the advice I was given was always well-considered and honest an that I was always kept fully apprised of the thinking and planned processing of my case.

It was abundantly clear that the firm knew road traffic law ‘to-the-letter’; this is confirmed in reviews furth of 'Trustpilot'. Steven Farmer has drawn very positive attention to himself and his natural aptitude for interpreting the law with an eye to fairness. His people are utterly sensitive to the stress experienced by people like me who have never “wittingly” breached the law (traffic / otherwise).

In conclusion, Steven prepared, liaised about and presented (eloquently) a case for me a court, which resulted in me avoiding disqualification. Ironically he arrived in court with a copy of "Wheatley's Road Traffic Law in Scotland" which, I understand is the seminal source of law - attributed to the late Lord Wheatley (Scottish Childrens Hearing System and Local Government reform of 1976); he needn't have bothered as he had researched (and subsequently marshalled) case precedence in my mitigation. Steven had pre-empted Crown questioning by learning more about my journey to work (by public transport) than I had! Both I, and many others, who depend upon me (family and ill / needy individuals for whom I care) will remain forever grateful to him.

With mature reflection, and by way of an apology, I should have allowed him to progress my defence unhindered instead of (perhaps) trying, inappropriately, to continually intervene with irrelevant information and questions. It is clear, in hindsight, that this company and this specific solicitor is more than able to take initial instruction, chew it over and make it tasteful to the courts.

I would thoroughly recommend this company should you ever require road traffic legal advice. I can't rate them highly enough. They have had a profound positive influence on my circumstances when I was (with every good reason) anticipating the worst case scenario

I was parking a friend’s car last year within no more than 3 minutes because I needed to give way to the fire truck, and then I was accused of driving without a driver’s license and insurance. I was charged with dangerous driving after crashing my car.
I had called a few companies to see what my options were but after speaking to Steven for around 45 minutes my choice was easy as he seemed the most professional and understanding whilst giving realistic outcomes unlike the others.

I found roadtrafficlaw.com through the reviews on Trustpilot and after speaking to a few other firms. I gave them a call and was put through to Steven.
From the off I cannot give this man enough praise. Taking a 45 minute call to talk me through my situation initially without me even confirming I would proceed with this firm (could have been a waste of time for him).
I spoke to four other firms prior and none of them gave me the confidence of going with them, and when my career / life was on the line then my gut told me to go with Steven. One of those other firms also tried to slap me with a bill for £60 for a 7 minute phone call without telling me there would be charges!

Situation was that I was still over the limit and had a crashed. I could manage the minimum ban but it was highly likely given the circumstances and I would likely get hit with higher than this and would jeopardise my work. For anyone in a similar situation to what I was in and looking for hope, then my breath reading was 59 and in the central belt area.
A day after being in court I’m still puzzled as to how I managed to get a 9 month ban (if I do a course, which I will). Maybe he over managed my expectations but I would prefer that than false hope.
Steven is a magician in my eyes and if you are ever wondering about whether you should go with him or go to a cheaper alternative then I would suggest you read all the other reviews like I did. I may have paid for his services but I still cannot thank him enough.
