We purchased our Roofnest during COVID…

We purchased our Roofnest during COVID and have used it a lot over the past six years. Recently we were camping at a NASCAR race in Martinsville VA. There was a storm rolled through and we experienced almost 50degree temp change in about 5 hours. The wind was 15-20 MPH with gusts around 30 MPH. We had to rachet down the ladder because the wind was lifting it up off the ground. I thought for sure I would get up in the morning and it would be ripped to shreds. It never leaked and was in perfect shape. Other than the clear coat is flaking off, the tent is still great.

Terrible, terrible customer experience

I ordered a Meadowlark XL and one of the support poles had an issue and couldn't be used out of the box. It's been a month and a half since I filed a warranty claim, and I still don't have a response from Roofnest.

Terrible, terrible customer service.

Waste of money and time

This is my second experience having a crack form on top of a hard top roofnest and cause a massive leak that ruined all bedding and the mattress on a two week trip in the Canadian Rockies costing me over 2K in accommodations to save the trip. Roofnest had sent me a replacement top three years ago and I'd hardly used it since. This time customer service suggested putting JB weld on it or paying $500 to buy another roof. They are high in the night to think I'd put a third roof on this thing. As I shared with them, it is headed to the dumpster. I suggest IKamper or a trailer over trusting any Roofnest product. These tents are clearly defective and the patronizing response from customer service doesn't help.

Quality Tent Undermined by Poor Support

The tent itself is well-made and performs as expected. However, my experience with the company’s customer service has been disappointing. Two days after I purchased the tent, the company launched a significant promotional offer that included nearly \$600 worth of savings/bonuses. I had been receiving frequent promotional emails, so I was well aware of the offer.

Given the close timing, I reached out to ask if I might qualify for one of the items included in the promotion—not the entire bundle, just a single item. Unfortunately, the response I received from Hunter was dismissive and lacked basic customer empathy. Rather than acknowledging the timing or showing any flexibility, the reply simply stated the obvious and ignored the larger context, all with a tone that came across as condescending.

This experience ultimately changed my perception of the company. I had intended to place a larger order to reward top performers on my team with something different. However, the tone and handling of my reasonable request caused me to reconsider further purchases.

I hope management takes this feedback seriously. Customer service plays a critical role in brand loyalty, and a more thoughtful response would have gone a long way.

Failed within a month — not premium, just premium marketing

I bought the Roofnest Falcon 3 EVO XL rooftop tent for over $3,000 expecting a premium product. After less than a month, the outer shell began delaminating. No extreme weather — just moderate summer conditions in Colorado.

Roofnest refused a refund and only offered a shell replacement, even though this is clearly a materials and quality issue, not a rare defect. For something marketed as rugged and reliable, this is unacceptable.

I’m now documenting the entire case with photos, videos, receipts, and communication logs, and will be publishing everything on Reddit, YouTube, and overlanding forums to warn other buyers.

If you want gear that actually lasts, look elsewhere. Premium pricing, cheap construction.

Failed after 1 month. Not a premium product.

I purchased the Roofnest Falcon 3 EVO XL rooftop tent expecting a durable, premium-grade product — especially at a price point of over $3,000.

Within less than one month of moderate use, the tent’s shell began delaminating, with visible structural issues and material separation. I have photo and video documentation, timestamps, gas receipts, and witnesses who helped install the tent. This happened in non-extreme conditions in Colorado — nothing close to the rugged environments this product is marketed for.

Roofnest offered only a shell replacement, which is unacceptable given that the issue appears to stem from poor quality materials and construction, not an isolated manufacturing defect.

This is not a premium product — it’s overpriced marketing wrapped around cheap construction. I am now pursuing a full refund and legal action and will be publishing my complete case with photos and video across platforms including Reddit, YouTube, and overlanding communities.

If you’re thinking about buying this tent — don’t. There are far more reliable manufacturers out there. If mine failed in a few weeks, what happens in a year?

Awful support of their products

Awful support of their products.
I contacted support for some help with mold and some replacement parts. They had me sending pictures, measurements, receipts, all in the end to say "ya, sorry we can't help you". The tent is out of warranty. I know it is. I told them that. But I needed to replace the doors because of mold. "ya, no. we don't do that. We don't have that material. Seriously, you have NO TENT MATERIAL?". Can you do anything to help. "Well, here's a website where you can look to see if they can help: Roofnest is a MADE IN CHINA product! With no support of their product.

Dear roofnest.com. Your product sucks

I just recently purchased a roof-nest, falcon, XL, 2 model, I realize that the roof nest products are not the Mercedes-Benz of rooftop tents. Within four weeks of purchasing the falcon XL 2 the suspension system ( STRUTS ) which enables the rooftop tent to open and remain open, completely, broke off the ball joints. Luckily, this company offers you what I believe is a two-year limited warranty. I gave the one star rated company by the name of roofnest.com an opportunity to show their true colors I must say I was truly disappointed. It took many phone calls and excuses on their part why I did not receive my struts within a timely manner. Upon receiving the struts (suspension) I contacted the company to find out where I’m supposed to get the warranty work done… big surprise they do not have any warranty authorized service repair shops. The representative told me it was a very easy fix that. I could do it myself with the tools. They supposedly sent me with the purchase of their product. Guess what I never received any such tools. When I ask them regarding instructions on how to change the struts, I was told they don’t have that information either, on a PDF or video basically you’re on your own! You get better instructions from IKEA furniture!!!! When I asked the question regarding what tools will be required to install and remove the broken struts, they didn’t even know that information! I was left with no choice, but to contact American Express and dispute the charge.

This tent company is a scam

I'm relatively convinced that something is happening at Roofnest (perhaps they are going bankrupt or something?), so I'm providing a Roofnest Rooftop Tent review.

In short, I paid $3500 for a tent that was never delivered. The shipping company lost it. For a whole week they kept saying "it will arrive tomorrow" and it never did. Finally they admitted they didn't know where it was. No help or refund yet from Roofnest, I will update this review if they resolve it.

Every day I'm fed some nonsense about how the order was outsourced to a different shipping company, and then a different one, etc. etc. etc. If I hadn't seen Roofnest tents on the road I'd be 100% convinced this is a fraudulent company. I'm genuinely unsure what to think right now. But I'm not sure how you can charge a customer $3500, lose the item and do nothing about it.
