Awful company, and incapable of doing anything right!

Would prefer to give this company 0 than 1 star. As a company they are incapable of doing anything right. The contact centre say they can not deal with a request, and say speak to a branch. Ring branch, and it transfers to contact centre. You are in a constant loop, and unable to speak to anyone useful. Trying to transfer an ISA away from them, and instead they themselves decide to place it in their own 5 year ISA. I never requested that, but trying to get your money back is a nightmare. Useless APP, useless contact centre, and invisable staff at the branch. Do not use these cowboys!

Absolutely Horrible Experience with State Bank of India – A Warning to Home Loan Seekers

I’ve never encountered a more dishonest, irresponsible, and harassing institution than State Bank of India (SBI). Taking a home loan with them has been one of the worst financial decisions of my life.

Deceptive Interest Rates: SBI lures customers with "low" home loan rates, only to quietly hike them later without any transparent communication. They manipulate the rate reset mechanism and conveniently ignore RBI directives that should benefit borrowers. It feels like a bait-and-switch scam disguised as a government bank product.

Legal Harassment of Genuine Borrowers: Despite being a regular, legitimate borrower with no missed EMIs, I was shocked to receive legal notices and threats for completely baseless reasons. Instead of addressing customer concerns, they act like loan sharks. It's nothing short of extortion.

Rude, Incompetent Customer Support: Try calling their helpline—if you're lucky to even get through, expect rudeness, zero accountability, and no real solutions. Their customer care staff are either untrained or just don’t care. You’ll be tossed around from one executive to another, none of whom can actually help.

Branch Level Irresponsibility: Don’t bother going to your local branch either. The branch managers are apathetic, evasive, and quick to wash their hands off any issue. They will blame “the system” or “the head office” and send you back and forth endlessly. Accountability is nonexistent.

SBI survives only because it's a government-backed bank. If this were a private institution, it would have collapsed long ago under the weight of its mismanagement and unethical practices.

Avoid SBI for home loans (or anything else, frankly). You’re better off with any well-rated private lender who values transparency, service, and basic respect for customers.

I have never used such a terrible credit card before.

I used around ₹2,00,000 credit on my SBI card and tried to convert it into EMI later, but it didn’t work. I called customer care several times, but they rarely responded properly. So I started paying around ₹10,000 per month for 5 months — I’ve paid about ₹55,000 in total.

Even after all this, my outstanding balance is still showing ₹1,97,000! When I finally got through to customer care (after calling more than 20–30 times), they told me I was supposed to convert it into EMI within 30 days. No prior information on this before. Because I didn’t convert in time, all my payments were taken as charges and interest.

After paying ₹55,000, I still have to pay ₹1,97,000? That’s ridiculous.

To make it worse, after paying ₹55,500 recently, the available credit limit is shown as only ₹2,500. They didn’t even provide basic information about EMI conversion timelines or hidden charges. This feels like a scam.

My honest suggestion: Do NOT apply for an SBI Credit Card. Customer service is pathetic, their rules are unclear, and charges are unfair.

The worst Global Horrible Bank illiterate staff

If you raise a concern with all explanation still the staff don't read it and just ask some question to drag it after weeks after weeks. the staff just dont work.
They can't understand what is written in their own form.
Try to learn from other banks, instead of showing 1000 products and you not sure how it works and no idea what you doing.

- Bad experience with Internet Banking. The employee didn't provide the correct username and pass for YONO so I am not able to operate my SBI account online. I have visited the home branch 4 times, and I still have the same issue.

Poor customer service at the time of unauthorised transactions

I had an unpleasant situation faced on 21.12.2023 due to a fake yono app and I lost Rs.50000/-. When I informed the Bank Manager of SBI,Kollam a cold response given and finally I lodged one complaint with cyber cell and alongwith I gave complaint to the Bank. Everything was within the stipulated time limit. She gave the acknowledgement and given the complaint No.363880706. On the next day evening 7 p.m I got one message that my complaint got resolved. I thought my money has recredited to my account. On enquiry to the toll free number, they have informed that branch manager has not furnished sufficient details along with the complaint, so got rejected. Poor customer service. They want only accounts and they have not taken any action with Federal bank to recover their customer's amount

I was asked to setup a bank account…

I was asked to setup a bank account with them 2 months ago for some administrative reasons.
After 2 months the account is still not setup, every time I submit the requested documents they either reject the application for some straight up made up reason or request additional information. At this point I just think they are either discriminating because I’m not Japanese or they don’t want me to open an account. 6 times they’ve sent back the application, “name doesn’t match provided ID” it does and its formatted correctly how the application states “ID has smudge on corner” it didn’t and the area the highlighted had no info but I went and spent the day getting a new ID just in case “Higashi in address is spelled incorrectly” no it wasn’t but I filled it in again just to make sure it’s amazingly clear. “Restate your residency status and print it next to your name” there is no instructions to do that and my residency status is filled in in 3 other places on the application and on my ID’s.
This seems to be a never ending process. My wife filled out an application, exactly the same as mine and not a single problem, processed in 10 days but then she’s Japanese.

The worst worst app SBI YONO

The worst worst app till date that I've ever used. SBI YONO APP. Most of the time app not working, please retry. Takes a hell lot of time to load, enter the correct password will show some error and next day enter the same password user will be able to log in. JUST HELL. It's better not to have an app than to have this piece of 💩 Check balance, won't be able to check balance. Just DO SOMETHING WITH THE APP ALREADY!!
