Unroadworthy MG ZS Sold – Statutory Rejection Served Under CRA 2015
I am writing this review to share a factual summary of my recent experience purchasing a vehicle from Malik at Z & R Simply Motors Ltd.
The Purchase: Paid £7,700 for an MG ZS.
The Defect: Shortly after purchase, the vehicle suffered major mechanical failure and was declared unfit for purpose and unroadworthy by an independent diagnostic check.
Legal Rejection: Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, I formally exercised my legal right to reject the vehicle. Notice was delivered via Royal Mail Special Delivery directly to their premises on 29th July (signed for at 14:05, tracking AS375393318GB).
Current Status: Simply Motors has failed to issue a full refund, leaving us out of pocket by £9,233.19 (including statutory consequential expenses for towing, diagnostics, and fuel).
A Section 75 statutory recovery claim has been logged with our card provider, alongside formal reports to Citizens Advice and Trading Standards.
I strongly advise anyone considering buying a car here to exercise extreme caution and ensure you keep full written records of all transactions.
