I have wanted to become a Driving Instructor for a few years now but financially I couldn't afford the Course. Now a few years have passed and things are different now i came across Smartdriving School and found that they were the cheapest and once I enquired they have been brilliant. Mr Dave Hamilton has been the most polite Gentleman I have spoken to on the phone, he is very helpful, understanding and he has great customer skills. Well done Dave. Also the Support team are very helpful too. Smartdriving School doors are always open. So anyone wishing to become a Driving Instructor then Smartdriving is the place to go nothing is any trouble to them. Thank you so much everyone.

A very comprehensive course with lots of great learning materials. You need to be quite organised with your time to make sure you get the best out of it! I can't believe how much things have changed since I past my test over 30yrs ago.
Also, a great support network from all the SmartDriving team they are right behind you 24/7. I would highly recommend.

Better than the rest. Clear and concise, complete

There is a lot of learning to ensure your knowledge of driving and learning methods are current. Ensure your family appreciates the amount of time you will need to work through the volume of learning and paperwork.
Particularly enjoyable was the interaction with the Trainers and other Trainees group learning. The help with P3 which I always saw as the difficulty ensuring what and how it was delivered to the pupils was correct.

So I started the course with the intention of finishing within 8 months do-able? yes if Covid wasn't around.
The course is intense and at sometimes I felt it went a little bit to deep but remembering why I was doing this helped to motivate me and complete the first part. I passed my Pt 1 on the second attempt, frustrated I had failed it the first time and as I am a professional driver, I stormed into Smartdrivings office and spoke with Janet, lucky for me they are local, although unannounced she made time for me and and we worked out where I had gone wrong and how we could sort it, turns out you can see a potential hazard too early. So on to Pt 2 training yes again the majority of this is self studying but if you complete each section in the right order it really does work, Pt 2 test taken and passed zero faults. Pt 3 training again mainly self studying but this time with 40hrs of practical training, all well and good except for Covid kicking in and training postponed for 3 months, became hard work motivating myself to keep some sort of training up. Training eventually completed but still no test dates, that would be another 4 months, in the meantime phone call from Smartdriving to discuss options I opted to do my test without the trainee licence, failed first attempt but passed at the second go. So onwards and upwards starting mine own school see how it goes. I know Smartdriving are there to help me.
It may seem a lot of money to start with but the end result is worth it. The result is sitting here in front of me my ADI badge, arrived this morning and will be in use come Thursday with my first paying pupil.

I have been driving for over 30years and have been a Police advanced driver for 14years but with out the support and e-learning materials. Human beings at the end of the phone I doubt I would have passed ADI Pt.1, let alone become a qualified instructor.
Worth every penny!

From the start, SmartDriving conducted themselves in a thoroughly professional and approachable manner. The course work (and there is a lot of it but well worth it if you stick with it) was well structured with realistic timescales to complete it whilst continuing to work during the training period. The online PDI sessions are invaluable later in the course and allow you to connect and discuss issues and raise questions with very helpful instructors (special mention to Malcolm) and other PDI's who are going through the training at the same time as you are. Support from Adam and Janet in the office is always readily available and Adam will always have ideas/suggestions that are extremely useful. Passing my Part3 exam first time was made all the more easy with the input from everyone at SmartDriving. You will get out of this, what you put in so be prepared to work hard. Becoming a fully qualified ADI feels fantastic and taking pupils who have never driven before right through to passing their test is a wonderful feeling. Thanks to everyone at SmartDriving for helping me start a new career!

I've wanted to be a Driving Instructor ever since I had driving lessons and passed my test when I was 17. As soon as I was 21 I started training with the Driving Instructor Training Centre in Redhill. I passed Part 1, then when I was preparing for Part 2, they moved offices quite a long way from my home and I found it impossible to fit in training with a full time job and a horse. So I didn't complete it at the time, but always regretted it. Many years later, in 2018, I started looking into it again when my youngest child started college, and discovered SmartDriving. I had contacted other training organisations, but I loved the professional literature SmartDriving sent me, and after a conversation with a member of their team - who confirmed I would be able to do the in-car training locally to me - I signed up on 31 December 2018. I've been working in a school for nearly 14 years, so my school holidays became study times, along with every evening when I got home from work. I've enjoyed every aspect of my training: from the theory at the start, right through to the PDI surgeries at the end. I attended more PDI surgeries than I needed to for my ADI21AT forms, but I found them so helpful and enjoyable. There was no part of the training I didn't enjoy. I felt as though I was getting an incredibly thorough education in driver training. I would say to anyone who is thinking about training to be a Driving Instructor, speak to SmartDriving. Be prepared to put in a lot of work, but you will definitely reap the rewards. When my first learner passed their test, I was ecstatic! To be a part of such a life-changing moment in someone's life is so amazing. I love what I'm doing now and I'm so thankful to SmartDriving for getting me here. I passed my Part 3 test on the second attempt, and am so proud to be graded "A".

Yes, I can see why we first provided DTS and you have done the right thing by doing your mock tests from this site.

The my adi course you purchased was available for a 12 month period, the expectation is that you would be at the stage of qualifying as an ADI by the end of the 12 month period. Which would involve completing all 3 exams. However, because you are quite far behind at this stage, you would need to repurchase the training programme to progress any further with ourselves.

The current course fee is £1799, but I can honor your previous discounted price of £999.

Firstly. There was nothing said that I needed to complete the whole 3 parts in a year . Theory passed is then valid for 2 years to pass the other parts 2 and 3.
2ndly - weve had a country lockdown for 4 months does this not take into account? Where no driving instructors have been working and no tests have been carried out . I couldn't book a theory until I was able too and October was the first available date given.

I really don't think this is very good customer service. I am not in a position to pull out another 999 pounds to get me through who is too say that the world will not be back to normal next year. Then were back here again and you asking me for more money. I'm not financially stable to be able to pull out all this money. I only wish your reps had gone through all this at the start.
I was told that all trainees pass and you support them the only time they dont is if we as trainees give up.

Well i certainly do not want to give up but if I'm put into a corner and needing more money then I have no choice. This is not very good and I am very cross.
Where do I go from here? So all this studying and revision and tests I've completed have been a waste of time and money then.

Where do I go from here - clearly once I get through part 1 then I have 2 years to complete part 2 and 3?
I have emailed back but it takes several days for them to reply - as yet I have not booked my 2nd theory because if they demand this money then I am forced to quit my dream on becoming a driving instructor because I do not have the money to be able to pull this out.

Please help I am at a loss here and have no idea where I go from here.

Today I just passed part 2 driving test, THANK YOU SmartDriving and Thanks to my instructor for part 2 Sadhana which did a great job guiding me for part 2. The iCourse is very well structured, guiding you step by step through everything. If you follow the iCourse as it is designed and you stick to the timelines, you won't get any issues. Make sure that you do all the practice as it is described in the course. My favourite one was the swan lake. Big fun. First time pass part one and two. Looking forward to part 3 now!

This company is a total con they ask you to complete a Horrendous amount of Course work I called the support line for help on a road sign You have to say what it is and where it can be found I had never seen it before and was told sometimes the answer is simply can be found on the side off the road.(isn’t all signs on the side of the road.) and besides that you have to answer in so many words or you can’t move on I got so fed up with it I took a different route for my part 1 test no stress at all when I pass my part 1 I called them to get driver training for part 2 only because I had paid for it but was told I had do Coursework for part 1 Even though I have passed it no thanks to them they have so many pointless Questions and so much Coursework to do they are Obviously Hoping you get stressed out and pack it in. money for old Rope for them. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. And I am sure they will give a Standard response which will be Rubbish. Reply to your response. quite clearly you think me having passed part 1 is insufficient even though I passed with government guidelines and passed with high scoring as I said you would reply with rubbish as all your bad reviews confirmed. I would highly recommend that people don’t sent you there hard earned money as you will just take and do nothing very unsatisfied customer but wish to warn any of your potential victims. It’s amazing a review was put up 1 day after mine saying complete opposite To me. (Reply) you say I still have access but you want more money to access some websites that you say I HAVE TO USE for something I have done. I Take this career very serious I am fully aware that I will potentially putting people on the road I am prepared to put a lot of work in to this so I am not lazy I had put 6 hours a day in for most of lockdown and Felt like I got nowhere but if you think that I am not a suitable person and to lazy to do the work Refunds are acceptable. BUT I BET YOU DONT. Edit in response to your response. You say you have called me but I have not had any calls I have called for two days and been told you are not available and will ring back I have left my number still no call just email to say you called this seems to be the only way I get response from you I am happy that people are finding this review helpful if it stops anyone signing up with you then it will cost you more then me because quite clearly you will not refund me you just want me to do a obscene amount of work for something I have passed so no point of saying you are there to help because you are NOT I will pass it will cost me more money I just made a big mistake signing up with a company who put people off when they get your money. Update 25/10/22 all of the above can be proven. Now you have sent me an email threatening to take me to court unless I take down my post I sent you a reply but you have not responded to me this website is about letting people know your experience with a company and everything I have said is 100% truth again I have asked you for a refund last week and you haven’t responded.

There were load of works, researching and papers to fill and at the beginning of my ADI course with Smart Driving, I thought that why do I need to do this much of theory works and paper works? I thought that to be an ADI we need to do practical works a lot not theory works. But at the end of my course and after I passed my ADI Part 3 test, I found that all of those paper works was necessary and helped me to better understand how to teach driving to pupils and really supported me to become an ADI.
