Please report this puppy farm
After letting my heart overrule my head and against my gut instincts, I paid £500 deposit in September for a show cocker spaniel. They were, and still are advertised as Kennel club registered, fully health checked etc. etc.
I must admit, looking at photos that I took of the mother she didn’t look in the best of health and the conditions where the helping box was wasn’t particularly clean.
I thought it was rather unusual that Ian Phillips and his wife Donna, didn’t even know what the KC name was of their own dog when asked.
However I was told I would have pup updates, weekly photos that even after numerous requests to Donna to send them, They never arrived.
I asked to visit the pups so that I could see them interact with the other pups.
Apparently I wasn’t allowed. until 6 wks of age because of infection , however this seemed of no concern when they were just 3 days and they wanted the deposit.
Afterwards all I got were excuses saying she was away for the weekend. The excuses kept coming quick and fast.from her.
I had one photo aged 3 weeks against a back drop of some flower arrangement. There were also photos of the others pups on the website in exactly the same pose.
I think it was an advertisement photo.
They were all still for sale.
However I felt left out and didn’t get that chance to bond with her.
I fell in love with a photo of her.
Two days before I was to hand over £2,000 and bring my puppy home finally. For some reason I looked at the reviews on their website once again.
That is when the red lights started flashing.
Somebody had given 1 star as their puppy had blood stained diarrhoea when it was collected . Eventually needing urgent veterinary attention and her Petplan insurance wouldn’t pay out.
My immediate question-
If these dogs are KC registered as advertised then they should have KC insurance for the first 5 weeks so that you have time to put your own insurance in place.
Why wasn’t this given?
I therefore decided to give them the benefit of doubt I asked Donna for the name & contact details of the veterinary surgery they use as with their permission I would ask for the health test results for my puppy including treatment details.
I also wanted copies of all health documents of parents and KC documents including insurance.
The reply I got back shocked me.
I was asked if I want a refund of the deposit.
I didn’t even ask for one nor expected one.I wanted my puppy with all documentation that I have a right to have when paying £2500 for a KC registered puppy.
I could not describe how upset I felt.
I replied that if they couldn’t get the documents then yes I wanted a refund. She then asked for my bank details, I gave them and the money was due to be paid the next day.
This was not paid and after giving them a reminder and another 24 hrs I thought about starting a small claims court proceedings against them.
However instead I contacted my bank as It is my personal opinion that these puppies are not registered and there are no up-to date health tests although this is yet to be proved.
Therefore prospective buyers like me are led to believe what they decide to advertise.
This is called miss selling or Fraud .
I contacted Donna to tell her I was contacting my bank she tried to give me some sob story that her husband has had a mental breakdown.
Even more excuses, I had heard enough.
I shall contact Shropshire council as apparently their licence is up for renewal soon.this information was given to me from another person they also tried to scam money from.
How many more ?
These poor animals are being bred in conditions that are not satisfactory obviously with health problems that reviews on here prove.
My puppy was advertised for sale yesterday , I never even had the chance to hold her in my arms. I hope to god her owners give her a beautiful life which is what she deserves.
All people who put reviews on here who feel that they have had an unsatisfactory experience with this puppy farm need to report it immediately .
Update
Due to contacting my bank who put a fraud trace on my deposit payment, the refund was paid into my account. This has hopefully made them think twice.
I also contacted Shropshire council and noticed they have changed their web page.
Luckily I have photo shots of the old one.
The best thing to do if you find yourself in my position is contact your bank and report to Shropshire council.
Just think of those poor dogs.
Thankfully there is a happy ending
My new puppy from a lovely breeder is to be named Lucy
After “Lucy,s Law”
