Solomon and Sons , was a huge help in moving a family member from Florida to Wisconsin, pick up was amazing, they were so professional and organized. Had an overall great experience using Solomon and Sons. Movers called before arriving to the pickup. They did an amazing job and were very kind and professional. Nothing was damaged during transportation. When we arrived at the drop off they organized all the boxes and set up our bedroom set. We enjoyed the experience and would recommend more people to use Solomon and Sons. We appreciate the work Michael and Jesus did for us.

Moving is stressful enough. This company made it simple. Kept their promises and excused my move professionally. Would use again

Used them for relocation across the states. TERRIBLE.
Tyler, who gave us our quote, was solid. The entire rest of the experience was a joke at best. They raised the prices, delivery was delayed, then they damaged items and stuck to terms and conditions instead of doing what was right. They are not the cheapest, so you can do better on price.
They are also not the best, so you can do better on quality.
Stay far away, or be prepared to pay way too much for service that is so bad you will want to get a class a license to do it yourself in the future.

Lessons, mistakes and an egregious breach of ethics.

It’s not in my nature to write negative reviews, but if my experience helps even one person avoid what I went through, then some good will come of it.

• Lesson 1: Insist on a thorough walk-through and/or perform a full inventory

Do not rely on photos alone; I submitted comprehensive, multiple-angle photos to the moving coordinator of my small 312 sq. ft. studio apartment in advance — *upon arriving for the move, the crew foreman claimed items were not on the list when they were clearly present in the photos; if submission of photos was not considered adequate for an estimate, the coordinator should have indicated as such and I would have insisted on a walk-through.

*The crew foreman attempted to raise the estimate by 54% — from $3,600 to $6,300; after a heated back-and-forth (and calls to the coordinator assigned to the move), I still paid $1,400 more than the original estimate; for a senior living on Social Security, this was financially painful and felt exploitative.

• The breach of professionalism

When cleaning up at the end of the move, I found small chunks of glass on the floor where one of 3 tempered glass-and-metal work desks had been;

As we're settling the paperwork, I showed the green-tinted glass chunks to the foreman, clearly indicating they came from the desk—I asked him: “Who packed the desks?”—he said: "I packed them myself. When I get back to the warehouse this afternoon, I'll check the desks." I never heard back.

Then came the most egregious breach of all: “You know, you could’ve bought the desks new for what it’s costing you to move them.” After 20+ years with furniture I love, hearing that from the man who damaged it was rude and beyond unprofessional. Honesty and accountability would have gone a long way, but instead I got dismissal and disrespect.

• Lesson 2: Never leave movers unsupervised

The crew consisted of one foreman and two inexperienced trainees; this was essentially a training session conducted on my dime. Boxes were poorly labeled, and it became clear that unless you personally supervise every item packed and have your own system of labeling, you risk chaos at delivery as well as when you unpack the boxes, both of which happened.

To add insult to injury, upon unpacking I discovered several items missing — of low financial worth but high in sentimental value; I filed a claim (I waited several months, hoping the items would turn up), which was denied, citing their predictable boilerplate language they routinely leave in response to a review: "Your shipment was released under the Released Value Protection option at $0.60 per pound per article. This coverage limits recovery strictly to items identified as missing or damaged at delivery and does not provide for reimbursement of items not noted on the inventory as exceptions."

• Final thoughts

A move should mark a hopeful new chapter; instead, mine was stressful, expensive, and deeply disappointing. Solomon & Sons Relocation Services failed me with bail-and-switch hidden costs, careless packing, and a blatant lack of professionalism.

• Bottom line: AVOID.

have moved and have paid for moving services more time than I can count. I stopped counting after my 25th move. My experience with Solomon & Sons is without a doubt the worst moving company I have ever experienced. I hired them for my long distance move from Maine to Wisconsin.

I was completely deceived by the sales manager who demonstrated a state-of-the-art warehouse and fleet of trucks leading me to believe that this was the quality service I can expect from this company.

What I got was two men and an unmarked box van. When they pulled up to load my goods, I had no idea that Solomon & Sons, had hired a 3rd party vendor to do the work. That company was Revolution Van Lines.

Everything was down hill from there. They received an incomplete inventory from S&S which made what should have been a 2-hour job into a 6+ hour job. I paid $65 for a TV that never arrived. My TV was wrapped in a blanket and torn pieces of cardboard...with the feet sticking out. At the end of the day my property was crammed into a van that had one household already and was on its way to another.

I took great care packing my boxes marking them with fragile. I used new moving boxes packed so they wouldn't crush.

Flash forward to the day of delivery. They arrived early evening on a Sunday night and didn't leave until about 11:30pm.

I couldn't believe the state of my boxes and goods as they were removed from the truck. In summary, I received a broken TV (as expected), a coffee that was split horizontally, a shattered microwave (glass everywhere), broken crackpot, and a broken shelf. I even received artwork that weren't mine.

I'm not the first person this has happened to. Please do not hire this company. Avoid them like the plague.

Estimator misled me with respect to delivery date and also went AWOL ahead of pickup. Dispatch gave me consistently misleading information regarding my delivery window, which stretched on and on. Not a professional outfit.
