I've worked for multiple main contractors and Stroma is a name that often comes up for air testing. The recent scheme we used them on they offered impeccable service. It was easy to book plots, received confirmation e-mails and reports when plots passed or recommendations on the failed plots. We needed re-tests done at short notice and they accommodated our needs. Ignore the negative reviews, it looks like people are reviewing the wrong business. 5*.

From start to finish the team at Stroma were fantastic. From the sales rep to the quote raising team, all the way to the guys booking in my tests, to the engineer on site. All treated me with professionalism and kindness.

Use local council not this bunch they are useless

I had to use Stroma to approve the installation of an oil tank . I have been involved with local authority buiding control , where the system is horribly bureaucratic . I had no idea the system could be outsourced . As a layman it can be baffling , but the people at Stroma were really friendly and helpful , guiding me through the process . They had a good relationship with the installer/contractor which really helps . The certificate came through with no delay - I was very pleased . They do have a portal that neither the contractor nor i could follow , but Stroma`s staff just helped us over the phone - very satisfied .

I express my deep dissatisfaction with Stroma. Errors made by the SAP department have resulted in double charges for work that was never requested. Rather than rectifying the mistake, the company is seeking to keep the entire payment, despite my having to engage another party to complete the work. Dealing with a company that operates in this manner is disheartening. If a complete refund is not issued, I will have no choice but to pursue legal action.

As a DEA that qualified with Stroma i thought the level of customer service i received was standard to the industry.

it was only after multiple rude and condescending communications with the training team that i called it quits and moved to elmhurst (who have been fantastic).

unfortunately i've recently had to use stroma for a heat loss course, i honestly cannot get over how lacking their customer care is, constantly chasing and getting really generic and unhelpful replies.

Just a poor experience. Took 6 years to get our Final certificate. (Yes you read that right). Not even a reply to my complaint email. The architect we finally dealt with seemed very good and efficient, but the Company as a whole lacks organisation and shows little or no empathy to its customers and zero attention to detail. Only use, if you are in no hurry and enjoy writing emails and chasing people up.

We employed Stroma to do building control on a recent house project/ extension. We have been extremely happy with everything. The person who dealt with our project, Kalif, was thorough, professional, knowledgeable, and polite. We would definitely choose Stroma again for any future projects.

The GBP500.00 22-page report only managed to caught onto small issues mostly about cracks and paints etc.

Unfortunately, we ourselves found out about
(1) 3 doors being unable to close
(2) big rusty stain in family bath
(3) big stretches on patio glasses
(4) poor/damaged patio left door handle
(5) poor pointing throughout the south side wall

These are pretty key issues for us as residences vs your tech people who maybe more concerned about the exterior.

For these issues, we emailed officially to Bellway and they have been correcting them one by one.

The only acceptable gesture is that we finally got a small refund of the work half finished.

This is a strange company. They were meant to do the building control on a conversion that was completed in July 2021. Firstly, no one turned up and Covid was to blame apparently, then they said that photographs 'would do' Still no one turned up. Then nearly a a year later I received an invoice from them for over £500 'for work carried out' !! No work was carried out at all. I have rung them several times on mobiles and head office and received no response. Finally, this morning, I will be welcoming one of their representatives, who stuck a card through my door last week having 'been passing' but had not contacted me prior to calling by, and left no message to say that they had been. The guy today will have some serious questions to answer before I pay this bill. They are unprofessional. They send invoices when they do not do the work. Steer well clear of them.

I had to get a ECP when I sold my house. The report list that I needed a heating controls and showing I had only 150mm of loft insulation. I had 270mm loft insulation and Nest heating controls. Very poor.

Had Training with Stroma specifically DEA and retrofit PAS 2035, would say really enjoyed course and learning with them. Explained really well, had a enough time allocated to complete tasks and extra support given.
Well worth the money, would highly recommend. Special thanks to Adine, Matt and Angela, to help me complete course.

I complained about a completely erroneous EPC. The assessor did not respond, and after 8 weeks waiting for Stroma Certification to respond I am about to find out how to get them struck off. Avoid them like the plague!

Like some below, I had an EPC done on one of my rental properties, by a Stroma Assessor, who put on the EPC that one of the improvements required were the fitment of TRV (Thermostat Radiator Valves). Strange that, as fitted them myself throughout the previous year.

When trying to speak to the assessor on the phone, there was no reply, and no callback from the message left on the answerphone. Nor was there a reply to my e-mail to him.

Having made a complaint to Stroma directly, and received a reply on the 15th July, asking that I provide photographic evidence of the TRV's. As the property is 120 miles away from the property, I e-mailed the tenant to ask for photos, and haven't received them yet.

Then today, 26th August, I receive an e-mail to say that as photos haven't been received, then the case is closed. No reminder, or asking when they were likely to receive them. A clear case of trying to sweep the matter of incompetence under the carpet.

Been working with BBS now Stroma for over 10 years over 20 projects never had issues absolutely great inspectors with so much experience, great help and support throughout would work with them every day

Flat build

I have informed stroma a few months ago that I believe EPC for my flat is incorrect, I have been trying to contact directly the accessor, however the phone number given on the EPC doesn't even exist... I have contacted them already 4 times and have started a complaint - never heard back from them. Avoid, try to look for a better company which is trustworthy.

Stroma has flagged my review because they don't believe I had a genuine experience with them - oh, unfortunately - I had.

This company trawl local authority planning portals and send direct marketing along the lines of

"I understand you have applied for planning permissions [...] be aware of the need to appoint a building control body..."

every time anybody submits a planning application.

The banality is amplified with classic lines like "I have more than 20 years of experience [...] currently assisting 10 other households in your area"

I don't submit my contact details to my local authority planning portal because I want to be contacted by a third party company providing services I don't require. I resent this type of contact and find it unethical, desperate and cheap.

From an electrical viewpoint they have been great.
