I’m a serious shoe enthusiast. The staff at Allen Edmonds on Michigan Avenue knows me by name, and friends tease me about how many pairs I own from brands I love.

A friend recommended TAFT for their bold, European-handcrafted designs and premium leathers. Since they have no physical storefront and I knew nothing about their fit or feel, ordering from the Last Chance section seemed smart. It let me try the brand at a lower price before spending more on full-price pairs.

I bought two pairs: one for myself (which I really like) and a women’s size 9 for my wife, who usually wears 8.5 and fits a 9 when half sizes aren’t offered.

The men’s pair used US sizing, but the women’s arrived as EU 39. That size is noticeably smaller than a true US 9 (which should be closer to EU 41 for her). They were far too tight for her to even try on properly. I only wanted a simple exchange for the correct size.

I understand Last Chance is final sale, but first-time buyers should not be penalized for cautiously testing the brand. Customers deserve consistent and accurate sizing without surprises, especially when there is no way to try shoes in person. An outdated phone number, slow email responses, and a strict no-exception policy show this company does not yet put customers first.

Brands like Allen Edmonds earn loyalty by valuing people over rigid rules. TAFT makes beautiful shoes, but until they offer clearer sizing, better transparency, and more flexible support, look elsewhere for companies that truly respect their customers.

Customer service is also severely, and consistently, lacking. Any and every interaction with them will make clear that they don't care about listening to their customers, as they're only interested in squeezing more money out of you.

My girlfriend ordered me boots on sale…

My girlfriend ordered me boots on sale and accidentally bought the women's version, DA. I tried to contact the brand to exchange for mens. Full ghost mode, zero customer service. Neither of us will ever shop there again. I hope it was worth it to Taft to move that one pair of boots on sale with no exchange.

They will not respond to return requests

Purchased a pair of boots from this company. They are no where near the correct size. Labeled as a 9 but I can barely fit my feet in them at all. The only way to start a return is by emailing their support email that they list on the website but they do not respond to you at all. So basically if you buy from these crooks you are going to be stuck with boots that are too small. So far I have sent 3 emails with no response . Going to look into what type of legal action can be taken with this company today.

Good Overall Experience

My first order, almost a year ago, was for three pairs, two pairs of boots and one pair of shoes. The shoes I received were just the wrong size (received a size 8 instead of 11 lol). Had no issue with exchanging for the right shoe. Since then I've ordered several more pairs. Only quality miss was on a super discounted pair of 365's as they were close to their cycle end, and it was just a piece on the tongue that held the shoestrings down was coming undone, nothing too serious. Haven't had much issue with customer service, deliveries have been a bit slow recently but nothing crazy.

The biggest miss across the board is the insoles the shoes come with. Obviously I'm not expecting supreme comfort but what they have standard is absolute garbage. Even worse when they decide to glue them down inside. Replacing them helps comfort out a lot, as with any shoe, but it feels like I'm forced to change the insoles.

I notice among other reviews that sizing seems to be hit or miss. I haven't personally experienced any sizing problems outside of being sent the wrong shoe size, but even then it was just the box size listing not matching the shoes sent. Maybe it's more of a problem with smaller feet, as everything I've ordered at 10.5-11 US has fit pretty well and accurate.

Overall very solid designs and experience. Quality hasn't changed after a year. Hope I don't have to come back and change the review because I do really like Taft and their designs. Look forward to more designs in the future!

Chat feature will give you an estimated wait time for the “line queue” but no one ever answers. For the price I was expected a far better experience

Need Better Customer Service

I purchased 2 pairs of boots for my husband on 23-Nov-24 valued to $600 as his Christmas gift but, they were a 12 and he needed a 13 due to the cut. I contact Taft and they provided a UPS shipping label. I live out of county and get all of our mail via USPS to the APO. I sent the boots to my brother stateside who dropped it off at UPS. Today is 24-Apr-25 and I am still waiting on Taft's replacement for one pair. We took a credit for the second pair. Apparently 2 separate replacement were dispatched via USP. One is sitting in PA since 21-Feb-25 and the other in GA since 1-Apr-25. Last correspondence I received is that the order will take up to 45 days to receive. In all the years we have lived overseas it has never taken more that 10 days to receive any mail or packages through the APO. Taft's website clearly states delivery worldwide and free shipping for orders over $150. Taft offers very unique and great quality men's footwear. I only wish that their customer service experience was the same.

I’ve been a longtime fan of TAFT, and after my recent experience, I can confidently say they’ve earned a customer for life.

I found myself in a tough situation after losing my home in the recent California Wildfires —and with it, my entire wardrobe, including nearly a dozen beloved pairs of TAFT shoes. When I reached out to see if there was any way they could help, their customer service team responded with professionalism, patience, and, most importantly, humanity.

Despite some initial hiccups and policy limitations, TAFT was willing to go off script to take care of a loyal customer in a unique circumstance. They listened, adapted, and ultimately worked with me to find a resolution that was both fair and incredibly generous. I bought a pair of Taft 365 Chelsea…

I bought a pair of Taft 365 Chelsea boots to replace a well worn pair of Dragon boots. I loved those; great quality boots.
I expected the same from the new pair, but I was sorely disappointed. On the first day I wore them, the stitching on the elastic started unraveling in several spots. After 6 days, the soles started getting unglued at the tips. A couple of days later, one of the heels lost the rubber sole. I'll never buy from them. Their quality went from a ten to a 1

Just buy the knock offs - Horrible customer service, shoes don't fit

Bought $300 pair of boots... they were clearly smaller. They then attempted to gaslight me into believe one of my feet is larger than the other. Like my guy, I've worn shoes before.. Nonetheless they refused to exchange it, blocked me from commenting on their ads calling them out and well now you know!

I purchased shoes in my normal size and they did not fit properly. I have contacted customer service now seven times by email with zero response. I have $600 worth of shoes that I am being completely ghosted and only having responses from artificial intelligence.

Ok boots, aggressive and terrible customer service

The Rome boots I received were fine but did not fit me. Because the style I ordered did not come in half sizes and a good fit was unlikely, Taft said that I could exchange for a different style or return them for a refund. I went with the return/refund option with the idea that I would later order a boot from Taft. Trying to get a return/refund triggered the problems with Taft customer “support.” They had no problem arranging for the boots to be returned and I dropped them off at UPS the next day with no wear and in the original packaging. While my boots were still enroute back to Taft, I received a strange email that my return was rejected. They would not respond to my emails if I only asked about the return. Note, the phone number they listed was not in service. However, if I mentioned the possibility of an exchange, they replied quickly. In that email exchange, they again agreed to the return/refund. Although they received the boots I returned, they did not issue the refund and they again ghosted me. About a month later, with no notice, they shipped me another style of boots in a different size. I only learned about this because the UPS delivery site let me know that there was a package waiting for me. And of course, Taft has made no attempt to honor their agreement to refund my original purchase. I asked the UPS store to return the boots to Taft without opening or even touching the Taft box. Because of their customer service, notably ghosting me and refusing to refund me after getting their boots back, I want nothing to do with Taft products.

I ordered a very nice pair of boots…

I ordered a very nice pair of boots from Taft (I do not want to remove credit to where credit is due) and paid for express shipping. Unfortunately, shipping took longer than usual so I email customer support who immediately responded back and refunded the extra shipping charge.

Once the boots were received, I emailed the company to let them know about some scratches I discovered on a boot. The Taft team never got back to me. I proceeded to call several times not their customer service line that is posted on their website, and this has unfortunately been disconnected. I then proceeded to email and call again for the next couple days and I haven't received any word back from the Taft team. Not even acknowledgement on the receipt of my emails.

To summarize: I received really nice boots with a scratch on them, and the customer service team is consistently failing to advise on return steps.

My next steps will be to send this same message to the various social media presence they have online, and if this fails, to take it up with my credit card.

Online businesses cannot be run with subpar customer service. Given this experience, I do not want to do business with Taft again.

Over two weeks to receive package and no way to reach customer service

I have purchased from Taft four times and things have been great. Their products are gorgeous. This last purchase started as a disaster though. I placed the order on 11/29 and on 12/13 I still did not receive it. The SHOP app, which is the service they use to ship the product says "Ready to Ship", and "Shipping Label Created, USPS Awaiting Item." It has said this since 11/30. USPS says that they have not received the product for shipping, just a shipping label request. I had sent TAFT four emails, tried calling on two different numbers that don't work, texted twice, and sent two messages through Instagram. I had gotten no response. Low and behold, the package shows up at my door today. I could not believe it. Clearly some kind of a shipping glitch, but the lack of response was inexcusable.

Sending wrong size seems to be their MO

I would put zero stars but not an option. They sent me the wrong size. Now have been informed the sale is final and they won’t exchange them. Even though it was their mistake. It appears all that beautiful advertising is just a scam. Ruined my Christmas.
I’ll see if they exchange or refund me.
Their phone was disconnected, so I emailed and texted. So far nothing.

I paid $600 for two pairs of boots. When I received them the size was completely wrong. I then tried calling their listed contact number which is 801-823-4625 and it was not a working number. After weeks of trying to get someone to respond to my emails, I sent the shoes back at a cost of $82.00 shipping!!!! However, I’m still waiting on my money!!! Yes, my money is GONE!!!! Taft has ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE so beware!!! I'm a schoolteacher and I feel like I have been robbed!!!!
I now have to sue them at a court cost of $325.00!!! Buyer BEWARE!!!!

Don’t buy

I bought 2 pairs of shoes the first pair fit nearly 2 sizes too big. Couldn’t return them because they are last chance and was in the process of reselling them when I started to see tears in the side. I am not about to scam someone into a crappy pair of shoes like what happened to me. Finally got the pair that fit me and they lasted 4 months. The designs are impressive and I love the looks but have been completely disappointed by Taft. I really hope the rest of the shoes aren’t like this.
