Pathetic

Pathetic. Will take my money without my consent in a heartbeat. Yet I must jump through ridiculous hoops, up to 10 days and later,to opt out of this sad scheme and be refunded my own money. The most difficult to use, sad excuse for a system option for decent, hardworking teachers.
These people should be investigated for theft and fraud. We deserve better as educators.

Fraud and con artisits.

If I could give none I would. Horrendous company to deal with. I have not withdrawn from the pension service but they decided I did when I changed jobs. Chasing them for a year for answers and basically told they can't fix it and I now have to reinstate and send them all the payslips from the past year and a half! This is nothing to do with me, I did nothing wrong and it is someone's mistake within their company and I am the one having to spend my time and resources fixing it?! They continue to take a huge chuck on my salary every month and goodness knows where it has gone. To add insult to injury they have added a random month of break in service from December to January for some unknown reason. And again, I am going to have to fix this. I HAVE DONE NOTHING, it is their incompetancy. Absolutely disgraceful.

Teachers Pension Scheme Poor

I have complained several times to them concerning my pension with them, and the response has been non-existent from them. I deferred my pension and now want to take it. Put in a claim and waited. Got no response on progress for two months, contacted them, and got nowhere. After 4 months of waiting finally discovered they had rejected my witness statement. Which I thought was pointless. I never received any correspondence about this until I continuously complained. It has now been 8 months, and still I am none the wiser as to what is happening to my claim. I have complained numerous times, but it falls on deaf ears.

Unfit for Purpose

Teacher Pensions is outsourced to the private firm Capita.
They are useless.
As you can see they do not respond to any of the reviews contained here which says it all really doesn't it.
Recently they responded to a complaint I made via a PDF file which I couldn't open. I complained again and asked for a written reply. So they responded with another PDF file!

TP and Transitional Protection

TP is absolutely awful. I have been waiting since July last year for my 'Transitional Protection' calculations, 10 months ago. I keep getting the same response, 'Others are in a similar position, and we cannot give you a deadline for this'.

I will be dead by the time they pay me my pension

It is often impossible to access the website. On the days it is possible, the structure of the site is so bad you go round and round in circles. I have been trying to initiate access to my pension since last October. We are now in June and 2 months past my intended retirement date and I have not received my pension or lump sum. I have had to apply and reapply. All those years I gave to my pupils and now I am sat with a begging bowl. It is intentional. The government hope i will drop dead with the stress. They may win.

Frustrating and difficult.

The reviews on here are depressing to read. I have found filling in the forms complicated because of my circumstances, and I can't get an answer when I call. I once spoke to someone but she didn't know how to answer my problem, and didn't know who else to ask.... I won't go on. My experience seems to echo that of others.

Pension

I have recently returned to the UK where I taught for 10 years after spending 20 years overseas. I have been trying to find out about my TP entitlement since my return. I originally tried doing this online, but received an error message and the advice to call TP. I did this and was told instead I had to send a letter with 'all my information'. I did this and, concerned about putting so much information in one place, I asked in the letter for an emailed confirmation that it had been received. I also sent the letter recorded delivery. I did not receive an email but, knowing that it had been received, I followed the advice I was given on the phone and allowed 10 working days to have my query answered. On calling TP today at 8.30am, I was put on hold for half an hour, while being told I was 1st in the queue. When my call was answered, the person I spoke to took my name, DOB and NI Number and then disappeared, meaning I had to call back, to then be told I was 42nd in the queue! When my call was eventually answered, I was asked similar questions to those I had previously answered and was then told I had failed the security check. The person I was speaking to suggested I write a letter. Having already done so to no effect I really cannot see the point of doing this again. The person on the phone said they could only answer 'generic' questions but clearly nothing I needed to know was suitably 'generic'. So, having spent 2 hours - largely on hold - on the phone, I remain no closer to knowing what my TP entitlement is or how I can access it. This is honestly the most unhelpful, unprofessional organisation with which I have ever had dealings. I do not blame the people manning the call centre as they are clearly working from a script and lack adequate training, but the organisation as a whole needs to improve procedures and communication and realise they exist for the benefit of their members.

TPS is indescribably bad

TPS is indescribably bad. They completely ignore my correspondence, took over two years to provide an updated CETV and have responded to my three complaints by sending me three holding letters - months and months have passed, and absolutely nothing happens. I am at the point of instructing a solicitor to engage with them - the reviews on this site demonstrate that they are out of control

Teachers pensions is an unbelievably incompetent organisation

Teachers pensions is an unbelievably inefficient organisation. They are a nightmare. I have been trying for over an hour to log on to my account but desplite trying a password reset umpteen times , I can make no progress. I just go round and round in circles. I tried phoning only to find there was a queue of over 60 people wanting to speak to them

Firmal complaint about Teachers pensions escalated to gov.uk

Teachers' Pensions:
I have made two formal complaints to Teachers' Pensions under their IDRP regarding their communication or lack thereof and service. I am a 60 year teacher with 35 years service.
I took phased retirement in 2023 to allow me to reduce responsibilities.
I have now received a final response from Teachers' Pensions however I am still unhappy with the poor communication, timing, error in the letter, confusing communications, delay in payment of benefits, no real reason for such a delay and so many mistakes and I wish to dispute this response.
I started planning for my remaining benefits in August 2024.

4/12/25 - I have requested information regarding my Statement of Benefits 9 times since 8/8/2024 to allow me to plan for my next stage of retirement. I finally received this on 8/12/2025. I made a formal complaint under their IDRP as advised by the Pensions Ombudsman on 4/12/2025 and received a formal response from TP on 8/12/2025.
Due to personal circumstances I applied for Early Retirement on 9/1/2026. My employer submitted the form on 21/1/2026 and reduced my hours further by retiring from my original job and starting a new .7 contract with the same employer. I received no confirmation or communication from TP regarding this, which is not unusual so I just waiting.
9/3/2026 I rang to find out the update. After 60 minutes and two phone calls Michelle informed me that my form had been received and processed and I would received payment on 27/3/2026. I didn't hear anything further.
15/4/2026 - I rang again and Gareth informed me that the application is there but has not been updated and that TP had rejected my application. I was shocked and pretty devastated He raised it with the Retirement and Benefits team.
20/4/2026 - I received a letter saying that the Early Retirement application had been rejected as the payable date of the award will be after my NPA. This letter did not appear on my secure messages. I contacted my school to find out when they submitted the application - 21/01/2026 - before my NPA
21/04/2026 - I received a secure message which appears to contradict the letter saying I need to choose between the different pensions available - no form attached to allow me to do this and no Track my Case on my TP portal.
27/04/2026 - I rang and Alan informed me that he would log my complaint with the relevant team.
11/05/2026 - I am still left stressed and anxious as there is a mistake in the letter which informs me of the status of my application. In this letter it states my application was received on 21/01/2025 - this is incorrect, it was submitted on 21/01/2026.
12/05/26 - I have now received a reply to my formal complaint from the Teacher's Pensions
13/05/2026 - I rang TP to discuss the letters above. I was informed that the mistake was yet again "human error". With regards the application, I stated I wanted to continue with the original Early Retirement Application (because I can not face going through this again when I'm 67!!) and when I asked for a time frame for payment of my benefits Jessica informed me "worst case scenario by 1st July!!" Since February I have reduced my hours and consequently salary to 0.7. This delay has financial implications so my husband now has to continue working despite his ill health for the past 12 months. It's just shocking!
This has caused me a great deal of stress and I have spent a lot of time trying to get to the bottom of this. This is on top of my challenging personal circumstances as my father passed away in January 2026 and my husband's heart failure.
I am appalled by the lack of communication and errors in the TP information. The organisation is not fit for purpose and the argument about the time delay because of the changes to the scheme in light of the Transitional Protection ruling is frankly not my concern. I would suggest they employ more people to deal with the number of enquiries.
I should be celebrating the end of a very happy and rewarding career and not chasing up forms and communications. I intend to pursue this mainly so that TP are held accountable and also so that other teachers do not suffer the same stress and process as I have.
The final response from Teachers' Pensions and copy and pasted apology with time delay explanation is quite frankly an insult and does not offer me any kind of recompense for the months of stress and frustration , never mind financial hardship, caused by this service.

Appalling company

Just spent 3 hours speaking with a web chat "person" then someone on the phone. All I'm trying to do is log into my account but it goes around in circles regardless of browser/cleared cache etc. Countless pin and password resets, countless "your details are incorrect" and "there was an error". And when they have done the 6th circle of it not working, it's just a "sorry you're frustrated". No escalation options, no referral to an actual IT person - just working way through a tick list of things to "resolve the query". When they can't resolve the query it's "your fault" because the computer has said no. THEN when you look at the complaints policy, it's write a letter and send via snailmail or login to record your complaint. I'm complaining about being unable to login!!!! Absolute joke and they won't do anything about it because they're "THE" company to do pensions with if you're a teacher. (Let's also add in, the 30 minute waiting on hold, plus the "teacher hours only" opening times). What a farce.
