Poor Customer Service, Wait Times, and Unsecure Methods of Verification. BEWARE.

While purchasing in-game currency for a mobile game through Terminal3, I began noticing my transactions were getting stuck "In Progress." I was then prompted with a message that my transactions had been blocked by their anti-fraud team and refunded, but no explanation as to why was provided. I followed the instructions and emailed their support team and it look close to two days to get a response. They proceeded to request my driver's license, and a majority of information on my credit card via email, which is not a safe way of transmitting sensitive data like this. I instead uploaded the screenshots via their upload link on the website, and had to wait another two days for the review. I had also asked why they blocked me three times, but they always ignore the question.

I tried to use my card again after they said they unblocked it, but since I was using it through Apple Pay, they blocked it again and asked for more sensitive information. It's absolutely ridiculous, as they claim they have strict policies, yet they won't provide you a lick of detail as to why they block you and have unsafe methods of verification. Their customer service and wait times are also terrible. I told them I'm not giving them any further information and that I'll just purchase in-game to avoid them entirely.

Refunded my payment without consent, then demanded my passport

In March 2026 I made a legitimate €300 payment via PayPal through Terminal3 for an online game. The payment was accepted, the product was delivered, and I used part of it normally.

A few days later, without any request or dispute from my end, Terminal3 automatically refunded the full amount back to my PayPal - flagged internally as "suspected fraud" - and blocked every payment method on my account. I never asked for a refund. I never raised a chargeback. There was no issue with the transaction from my side.

I contacted the game's support team immediately, in good faith, and offered to repay the amount so the situation could be corrected. I tried PayPal again, then a debit card. Both blocked. Every payment method on my account was now locked.

Terminal3's response was that the only way to unblock the account was to provide:
- Front and back colour photos of a government-issued ID (passport, driver's licence, or national ID)
- Front and back of the card used
- And at one point, a photo of me holding my ID next to my face

This was demanded by a payment processor, for a €300 game transaction, on an account that had been making PayPal-funded purchases for the same game for years. PayPal had already verified my identity. My bank had already verified the card. The original transaction had been accepted without ID. The ID demand only appeared after Terminal3 themselves reversed the payment.

I declined to provide identity documents to a third-party payment middleman and asked, repeatedly, for the matter to be resolved on the basis of the PayPal payment confirmation already on record. Over the course of nearly two months, the response from Terminal3 was:

- Copy-paste templates from multiple different "agents."
- Repeated suggestions to use alternative payment methods that were not actually available on my blocked account.
- One "final escalation" reply from their Fraud and Risk Team Manager that literally ended mid-sentence. That is not an exaggeration. It is what was sent.
- The case being passed back down to the Verification Team a few days after the same manager had declared his level the final point of escalation.
- A final written confirmation, on 28 April 2026, that they would not lift the restriction without the requested ID.

This is not fraud prevention. Fraud prevention happens before a transaction is accepted, not after the product has been delivered, used, and the merchant has refunded their own payment. What Terminal3 actually does is create the conditions for the demand - by accepting payment, then reversing it, then blocking everything - and then uses that artificial leverage to extract personal documents that they could not have lawfully required at the point of sale.

I am one of multiple users who have reported this exact pattern publicly over the years. A search for "Terminal3 refund account blocked" or "Paymentwall ID verification" will surface a consistent picture: legitimate payment, silent reversal, account block, escalating ID demands, no resolution route that doesn't involve handing over documents.

I have separately raised this matter with the UK Information Commissioner's Office on proportionality grounds under UK GDPR - specifically Article 5(1)(c), data minimisation. Requiring a passport and a face-holding-ID photo to process a transaction the same processor already accepted without ID, refunded on their own initiative, and now uses as the basis for demanding documents, does not meet the proportionality test.

I would not recommend Terminal3 / Paymentwall to anyone. If your payment goes through cleanly, you may never notice they exist. If it doesn't - for whatever reason their automated system decides - you will discover that the only path back to your own account runs through an ID-collection process that has no business being attached to a payment gateway, and a support team that does not appear to read the messages it replies to.

Avoid where possible. If you're a publisher using Terminal3 as a payment provider, you are losing long-term, paying customers over this and probably don't realise the scale of it.

I tried to make a 4.99 purchase to play…

I tried to make a 4.99 purchase to play an online game with my kids. They denied my purchase, "blocked" my account, and asked for pictures of the front and back of my card and ID or passport. Then those pictures were not good enough. I am still blocked. I just wanted to play a game, this is absolutely ridiculous. It's $5, I'm not taking out a loan.

Irresponsive and Absurd Asks

Completely ignored my multiple emails regarding having my account blocked for weeks. They only responded when I got the company that utilizes them that I was trying to pay to reach out on their end.

After that, they're requiring an absolute shitload of personal information as verification - more than I need to open a credit card, bank account, brokerage, etc.

What an absolute joke. Will refuse to work with any company that even utilizes this trash.

Paypal Issues

I chargedback using Paypal for a purchase I made accidentally on an alt account on BDO, and they banned my ability to make Acoin purchases on ALL my BDO accounts, including my main.

There is absolutely no reason why Acoin purchases across multiple accounts should be tied to a single Paypal account. Imagine a scenario where person A is unable to make Acoin purchases since person B's Paypal is blacklisted, just because person A has used that Paypal in the past.

The customer service experience was mostly reworded bot responses. It feels like I was communicating with an alpha version of ChatGPT. Furthermore, despite cancelling my Paypal chargeback dispute the day after I made it Terminal3 still took close to 2 months to resolve this issue.

All in all, I was already ready to abandon my BDO account that I have played since release, the fact that Terminal3 actually successfully resolved this situation was a huge shock to me. They managed to escalate what should be a simple, quick and inexpensive solution to something that took 2 months to resolve with the most repetitive and monotonous customer service responses. Final word of warning, do NOT use Paypal on any services with Terminal3.

These guys are criminal

These guys are criminal....Being going through this for months with these guys.......they out and out LIED telling me there was issues with charges on my pay pal and the banned me from all purchases on BDO.....there were no issues, and I've been using paypal for years. I asked them to tell me what the issues were and send me what they were talking about so I could address it with Paypal (already KNOWING there were none) and of course they refused. Then they demanded I use a CC and to reinstate me they wanted the following:
*For reference, the document should be readable and uncropped colored photos (showing all four edges) of the following documents* Full screenshot of your online PayPal payment confirmation showing these:
- Date and amount of transaction
- Reference/invoice number that starts with "w" followed by numbers (i.e., w1234567)
(no such numbers btw)
- URL of the website (example, https:// www. websitename. com)
* Front and back copies of your valid government-issued identification (e.g. driver’s license, National ID, passport)
* Photo of you holding the same ID requested above next to your face
This is insane..... I refuse to do this, and NO ONE should be doing this.....this is excessive and unnecessary not to mention personal and private information. I do not believe this is even legal.

Professional

Surprisingly fast responds from provider. Small QoL improvements should be done, over all I feel satisfied with my interaction.

UPD.
Had to run in to another issue with them. Not so smooth.

Extremely bad experience, stay away!

Extremely bad experience with this payment gateway. They block even the most basic forms of payment, processed through already extremely secure channels (PayPal in my case) and create pointless lengthy cases of documents check. Imagine that, in my case, the payment was for a minimal amount of money (1€).
On top of that, after asking me to send documents multiple times because according to them they were "cropped" (they were not), they disappeared and completely abandoned my case. Abysmal customer service and care.
Finally, they're very unclear on how your private informations are processed and stored and it's very likely that's not secure. They're not trustworthy.
If possible do not go through with them at all.

Slow service and forced into a situation where I would need it

My payment was put on hold due to fairly valid security reasons, and that is not the issue. The problem is that I was attempting to purchase a game pass for a game where my trial had ended. It took an entire day for the issue to be fixed, and it prevented me from playing the game at all in the meantime. Great way to ruin my Sunday. When this sort of situation arrises, they should be prioritising it and have ready and available staffing to sort it out quickly. It did get solved in the end, and that is the reason for 2 stars instead of one.
