Misleading information and disappointment

I called TCAP and asked if I could bring a stray kitten not to spay or neuter, but to give vaccines and deworm because I was going to adopt the kitten and keep him inside. Neutering would come later after the kitten adjusted. I was told that I could. I tired to set up an appointment online for vaccines only, the system would not let me. When my kids and I succeeded in trapping the kitten in the morning, we rushed to the Green Oaks location as told on the phone between 9 am and noon. When we showed up at TCAP on Green Oaks we were told that we needed an appointment because the kitten would need to be sedated. I called to set up an appointment, and I was told that vaccines could not be given without neutering! Absolutely NOT what I was told on the phone by the employee. Nowhere on the TCAP site does it say that neutering has to be done before vaccines if a person is planning to adopt the kitten. Very disappointed. The information provided is misleading. Will avoid TCAP and will recommend against using the services.

Dallas TCAP 7/19/25

Went to the Dallas 7/19/25 TCAP Saturday clinic at the Dallas Animal Shelter location, to pick up some heartworm prevention for my newly adopted dog. I had my paperwork on the dog with me, which documented that the dog tested negative for heartworm on 5/29/25 and had been given heartworm prevention tablet on 5/29/25 by Dallas Animal Services. I gave her another heartworm prevention tablet on 6/29/25, after I adopted her. It was now 7/19/25 and I was there to get the dog a 12 month supply of heartworm prevention. The big, tall, older, blond haired lady, rudely told me I had to get the dog retested BY THEM in order to buy the heartworm prevention, despite having written documentation that the dog had already tested negative on 5/29/25 and been on monthly heartworm prevention tablets, since 5/29/25. She again very rudely, stated that the dog had to be tested BY TCAP within 7 days, to purchase heartworm prevention from them, then went inside and slammed the door. I waited in my car with my dog with the a/c on, until the line shortened up. Then got in line for the heartworm test. Another 30 minutes later, she comes back out and tells me, the line is closed and they will not test my dog for heartworm or sell me the heartworm prevention today 7/19/25, despite the fact that I had been there and talked to her earlier and that there was nobody else in back of me. It took her longer to argue with me, then it would have taken to complete the heartworm test. This entire experience with the TCAP tech., was beyond RIDICULOUS, disrespectful and completely unprofessional! Her ONLY concern, was about making money off an UNNECESSARY heartworm test, rather then providing my newly adopted dog from Dallas Animal Shelter, with what my dog needed, which was the heartworm prevention.
I understand why their general customer ratings are low. They should be ashamed of how badly they mishandled this situation and their clients, in general!

Refuses to spay/neuter for non health related issues.

I would like to have someone from TCAP explain to me what, precisely, potential deafness, has to do with declining to neuter a stray that I rescued. I took him to our vet to see if they could write something stating that he's not deaf, but they couldn't since he *had* (past tense) had an ear infection. Then after they went to the back, I heard them say, "We got another one TCAP is refusing."

He is completely healthy. Even if he *is* completely deaf, deafness is not a health condition. But this is what TCAP stated as a reason for not neutering him.

Please explain to me what the ear/scrotal connection is, and what one has to do with the other.

My puppy went in to be spayed July…

My puppy went in to be spayed July 18,2023. 11 days later she was bleeding so I took her to an emergency hospital. They opened her up and she was not spayed, full of green, deadly infection so I had to put her to sleep. Someone at TCAP should never touch another animal ever again!!

Low Cost Vaccines and Spay/Neuter Services

I moved to Fort Worth TX from Los Angeles CA and needed vet services, for multiple dogs to get their shots. A coworker suggested I try TCAP, a low cost vaccination and spay/neuter service in North TX. My first experience was with a puppy. I was expecting to pay high prices for vaccinations, as well as anything else the vet may think we need. I was pleasantly surprised by pricing, location options, services, and tests they offer. I now have a pup that I rescued that needs spay services right away. Scheduling for spay services can take a month to get an appointment, due to popularity. However, in my area I qualify for a free spay and neuter program they are offering, and for that price I am willing to wait. So, aside from low cost vaccinations, sometimes they have programs offering free services. I highly recommend using them for your fur baby's health. If you sign up, you will get email reminders when vaccines are due. They even do hearteorm testing. Check them out, it is worth a look. I love them and so do my pups.
