Thanks Ivan. What a fantastic day. I wanted to explore my limits and the car's limits in a safe environment and that's exactly what I achieved today. Having done a fair few track days over the years (with no incidents by the way) I did wonder how much more I would learn, but I most certainly did. The innate reactions in all of us when driving was eye opening. Can't recommend Ivan and the course enough. Thank you.

I signed up for two days training with Ivan following a discussion on what I wanted to achieve. My aim was to understand my car better and learn to drive it in a safe manner due to the many features it has. Some of them that I was not comfortable driving with without learning first.

Ivan tailored the two days to my exact needs and I came away from Millbrooke not only more knowledgeable in my own skills but more in tune with the car.

Each day started with a briefing on car dynamics and how certain forces can upset the cars equilibrium. This information was then applied to the tracks. Millbrooke is impressive with many different options form road conditions.

Ivan is a real inspiration

Spent the day with Ivan at Millbrook as a refresher since I hadn’t been driving sport cars for 5 years. The day was tailored to my requirements and Ivan was spot on with his instruction. Came away with a refreshed confidence and all my goals ticked, plus some new techniques to practice before we meet again.

I didn’t know what to expect going into this experience, but quickly started to learn and understand so much when it comes to so many elements affecting so many elements of car control!
Ivan’s so experienced and has such a natural way of coaching.
I learned so much on the 2 days at Millbrook, it cannot be underestimated what can be achieved in a controlled environment. Then the 3rd day out on the road really helped tie everything together.
Frankly the roads would be a better place if every driver got the opportunity to have this experience!

I have just had the most enjoyable day of driver training with Ivan.
Ivans driving ability is phenomenal and he is excellent at passing his knowledge across.
The Millbrook roads are very demanding and are based on real road conditions.
The smoothness of Ivans driving (at any speed) is truly a crafted art.
Having experienced what it is like as a passenger, it made me want to improve my own driving.
My drive home after the days training was so much more enjoyable than my drive to the venue. I felt more confident, safer and it made me love my car with a new excitement.
I cannot recommend this day enough and look forward to booking more training with Ivan.

Having spent 3 days with Ivan I can honestly say it’s one of the best investments I’ve ever made. I thought I could drive and actually quite quickly realised at the age of 42 I still have a lot to learn. Ivan is a fantastic, patient coach with a huge amount of experience. I took the 2 day total control Master class, following on from a 1 day Dynamic Driving Master class.
Having purchased an AMG GT in 2023, I wanted to learn the cars potential and understand my own capabilities and how I could improve. Ivan's constant instruction and tuterlage guided me through all the conceivable scenarios that one might encounter on the road and he opened my mind up to a totally different way of driving.... driving swiftly and safely and with due consideration for other road users.

This prepared me for my ensuing trip to Europe driving on the German Autobahn and then through the Italian and Swiss Alps upon which, I felt a lot more comfortable and confident in every sense.
Funnily enough whilst driving, I could still hear Ivan's voice in my head as I approached every corner.... "look as far ahead as possible. Hold P1... and fade to P3...." and so on.

Don't hesitate, book, go and learn the proper way.

I couldn’t recommend this highly enough, if you thinking about doing this but aren’t sure if its for you I can only say go for it - you will both enjoy it and be much the better driver for it afterwards. I will definitely be doing it again!
Its fantastic thing to do for any keen driver, no matter what car and how fast/well you think you drive (I found the answer to that was - not that fast but faster than was safe for the way I was driving!). The 3 day course with Ivan is part knowledge, part practical car control, part physcology and part learning to think ahead; far, far ahead! The output was a smoother more enjoyable passenger experience for my wife even though we are travelling faster than before which can’t be a bad thing! Ivan is first and foremost patient, he’s a great communicator and teacher in a calm measured, never annoyed at repeating himself, kind of way, whilst obviously being an extremely skilled & rapid driver himself.

From the moment I arrived at Millbrook I knew I was in safe hands with Ivan.
On the track he gave me a lot more confidence in my car and on the road made me a better reader of the road and its conditions. It happened to be a little wet on the track the second day and on the road third day, however by the end of the three days I knew the limitations and had a better understanding on both track and road. In fact I could say I was quite scared on day one and wasn't looking forward to day two but by the middle of day two I just wanted to keep going and couldn't wait to hone my skills I had learnt.

I attended a three day masterclass, which consisted of two days at the Millbrook Proving Ground and then one day on the road, applying what he taught me at Millbrook.

At 52, having past my driving test at 17, some 35 years ago, it was an eye opener to say the least. Everything from driver position, steering position, visibility, acceleration and brake control, through to the cars physical position, awareness of other road users and seeing beyond the immediate was enlightening as well as humbling.

My desire wasn’t to be quick, but to learn how to drive more smoothly and Ivan taught me how to achieve it, but also at a swifter safe pace.

As another reviewer has written, which I wholeheartedly agree with, is that Ivan’s coaching comes into its own on day three, when you rejoin the real world from Millbrook. It was fascinating, while being thoroughly enjoyable.

Ivan is one of the most amenable tutors I have ever been taught by, very calm and considered and although he pushes you, when you decide that it’s enough, he respects your decision.

As for now, my new challenge is to retain what he has taught and to continually put it into practice so it becomes my new norm, which after 35 years, may take a little time.

Having recently taken delivery of a manual Lotus Emira after driving automatic cars for the last nearly 20 years, I soon realised that my driving wasnt up to the standard needed for the car . After seeing a great review for Total Car Control I contacted Ivan and discussed what I thought my issues were and agreed to do the 2 day Milbrook/Road course.

Ivan was just brilliant from start to finish, and is not only an excellent coach but superb in delivering a firm but fair assessment on the quality of your driving both on track and road. An expert in pointing out all the things that "you didnt know you didnt know" and the bad habits developed over 30 years of driving.

While Millbrook is a brilliant experience, the on road driving is a real eye opener that has totally changed how I look at driving.

I came away a much improved driver and totally aware of the capabilities of the car ( which are more than you could ever imagine ). I am now really enjoying the car but also much happier that I am doing it in a safe manner well within its capabilities.

In short Total Car Control should be a must for all drivers. I realised that I can only keep improving and plan to make the 1000 mile return journey next year to enjoy move of Ivan's magic.

This was my second experience of Total Car Control and Ivan’s cool, calm (but relentless!) training style.

The first time was to help me get the best out of my Panamera and it was a revelation. I came away with knowledge, skills, and – most importantly – practical experience of driving on the track and on the roads.

A new car (Porsche 911 GTS) was a major upgrade of vehicle that needed a matching upgrade of me as a driver. Two days with Ivan at Millbrook showed me what a fantastic thing I’d bought and how much more potential there was for me to enjoy. He demonstrated how safe and smooth a performance car can be whilst travelling at eye-widening pace.

Ivan tailors the course to the driver and is always ready to adapt. Whenever I reached a plateau on the track, he diagnosed my problem and took me somewhere else to develop a particular skill; high speeds stops, avoidance techniques, edge-of-handling manoeuvres, and my epiphany for the day – trail braking. I had an academic understanding of using the brakes to help rotate the car but doing it over and over again left me marvelling at the easy, rapid, surefootedness that trail braking delivers.

I’ve got a new-found respect for my car, and I have the confidence to make so much more of its capabilities. Having said that, I feel like I’ve only scratched the surface, so I’ll be back with Ivan soon for my next driver upgrade.

Ivan is not just an expert in fast car handling, but also a great communicator. His depth of knowledge, and the way in which he patiently broke down complex driving techniques into digestible instructions, ensured I could not just comprehend, but also apply the knowledge and those skills practically. The use of real-time positive feedback helped me to make safe progress improvements, which over two day added up to a huge strides forward.
He pushed me enough to discover more than I thought possible, but never at the risk of me loosing confidence. Just perfect balance.
Also it's not just your skills that are transformed by spending time with Ivan, but the experience of your car, hence the title of this review.
I whole heartedly recommend Ivan and will definitely back for more myself.

Ivan is a simply fantastic driver coach who tailors his approach to what YOU need to know to make you a safer and more confident driver as he explains the complexity of your car and how it is trying to communicate with you and how it is trying its hardest to help you! This was my 2nd 3 day course, and I will regularly update my skills with him going forward. I cannot recommend him enough and I even sent my son to spend 3 days with him to stop all that teenager nonsense!!! Ivan will improve your driving and you will gain confidence to truly explore the limits of your own driving in your performance car. On top of that, he is a really great bloke.
The 3 day course is a must. 2 days at Millbrook having all the space in the world to explore and get it wrong safely, but the 3rd day is the real essential, learning to press on safely on real roads, in real conditions.

Another brilliant session. The whole process is professional and tailored. Ivan carried out a refresher, assessed how much I’d retained. The day was exhilarating, educational and left me much more confident in my cornering skills and ability to deal with slippery surfaces. I’ll be back for more very soon.

Have done courses with Ivan annually since 2018. Over time Ivan has transformed my driving. Himself is top level driver coach and makes learning fun and very enjoyable. The coaching at Millbrook teaches you the car control techniques which are then implemented on-road where Ivan coaches you to make safe and spirited progress. Ivan's coaching has made me a safer and more confident driver. If you're thinking about booking a course, go for it, put any nerves or ego to one side and just do it. You will make massive progress in your driving irrespective of current skill level. After training you will enjoy your car much more and be safer on the road.

My wife and I spent five days with Ivan around Milbrook and on the roads. He taught us not only better driving skills in general, but also how to get the best from our new Audi R8. I still hear him in my ear as I drive it several months on.
