Absolutely appalling insurance company…

Absolutely appalling insurance company .
Went though Lifesure broker (unaware of this at time)When I made a claim and it was found there had been a mistake when taking out insurance (through no fault of mine)When taking out new for old insurance the on line form asked for value of caravan (It should have asked for retail value of NEW van) this was never made clear I then lost over £7000 and my caravan. When I complained and finally got a reply it was not there responsibility and it was in he terms and conditions and as the insurance was taken out online it was all down to me . A complete and utter con and useless company no help at all with trying to sort out issue . Caravaners DO NOT USE.

Avoid this amazon insurance

No feedback whatsoever after the insurance claim. On the internet you can only find warnings about the insurer. The fact that this insurance can be purchased via amazon gives the appearance of a reputable insurance company. Not recommended in any case. Hands off.

Do not use this insurance company

Poor to shocking service!
Do everything they can to not pay a genuine claim.
I paid my insurance monthly for 10 years and never thought to change - this was a big mistake.
When I then had a accident in my kitchen where a tap was left on causing massive damage.
1. Poor response time
2. Rude staff members with no customer service or empathy skills
3. Use a company to investigate you to prove no claim
Definitely not the 4th emergency service but a team of crooks who are protecting their profit line not your home
DO NOT USE THEM

Awful Company - Avoid like the plague

I was due to get married in May 2020. I had bought a wedding insurance policy a year before the wedding date from WeddingPlan Insurance. This policy was underwritten by UK General (On behalf of Great Lakes). The government imposed lockdown meant that the wedding could not go ahead. Even though the policy wording appeared to suggest we were covered for situations where veunes were closed by a relevant authority and for infectious diseases, UK General rejected the claim. After many many hours of complaining and going through FOS, the claim was eventually overturned and paid in March 2021. I will never buy an insurance policy again which has any connection to UK General, Great Lakes, WeddingPlan or the Davies Group. Seriously, avoid all of these companies like the plague.

The Ombudsman upheld my claim against Great Lakes

UK General act on behalf of Great Lakes, who were the provider of my payment protection insurance for a number of years. I had a terrible experience with Great Lakes and would give them a zero rating if the Trustpilot system allowed. In July 2019, I was made involuntarily redundant from my job. Great Lakes, via their insurance intermediary Advent Solutions, put me through the mill for months on end, demanding an enormous amount of paperwork to prove my claim. I spent a huge amount of hours of my time on this and gave them everything they asked for. Despite clear written evidence from my former employer of my involuntary redundancy, Great Lakes ruled that my redundancy was voluntary and they rejected my claim. I absolutely knew my claim was genuine so I took my case to the Financial Ombudsman, who ruled in my favour after examining all of the evidence. They ordered Great Lakes to pay my claim, plus interest, and finally in April 2020 - 10 months after I was made redundant - I received a payment from them of almost £800. Naturally, I cancelled my policy with them at the renewal date in October 2019, and I will never go anywhere near any services connected with Great Lakes and/or UK General again.

The would have been wedding. Absolute Rogue traders.

We took out wedding insurance with this company through debenhams thinking by using a reputable firm that we could rest well knowing we were safe. Gulible naive fools we were.

We made a claim as our wedding, like many others, fell victim to the coronavirus outbreak.
Our claim was small in comparison to some but a couple of thousand pounds none the less.
After hours of phone calls and numerous emails we finally got through and were told it looked likely our claim would go through as the amount wasnt huge and the claims were genuine.
We were asured our case had been pushed through and we would recieve a response, guess what? Course we didnt.
We had to call them just to be told that our claim wasnt going to be accepted due to the fact it was a goverment decision to put a travel ban in place and that in our small print it said we wouldnt be covered for this.
Now when millions of people are dieing, nobody in the whole world can travel, no venues world wide are open and the world is in the middle of a pandemic and we arent even allowed out of our own home or to go to work how can this company hide under such a whimsical ridiculous cop out of an excuse for not paying out for our wedding.
What should be a fun and exciting time has now turned to financial worry and stress not knowing if we can recoup the losses to afford the wedding next year. What a sad excuse for a company. What a sad situation for everyone who put their trust in them and what a pair of fools we were for trusting them.
Stay well clear. Dont trust them or their lies and certainly dont give them your money. Not even a jesture of good will to refund our intial policy payment.

INSURANCE THAT BREAKS THE LAW

Make no mistake that Wedding Plan is just a trading name of the disgraceful company UK General. UK General underwrite WeddingPlan and Debenhams Wedding Insurance - AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

I have email confirmation from WeddingPlan on 12th March stating that I would be covered in the event of a government lockdown.

The government regulation/act (lockdown) is now the reason they are rejecting my claim - contradicting previous correspondence and my policy which states I am covered in the case of a pandemic/epidemic. The government regulation/act noted on my policy has no definition and no laws have been put in place.

On the MoneySavingExpert site WeddingPlan have quoted that they WILL cover weddings planned before 30th June 2020. My wedding was scheduled for 18th April and it has been rejected.

I have been placed on hold for hours and wasted so much time chasing for information - which is useless as they have used the Davies Group for extra support who aren’t able to give any detail. I’ve been lied to and told managers would “definitely get back to me within the next couple of hours” and of course - no response. They haven’t replied to the multiple emails I have sent.

UK General are in breach of contract and acting illegally. They are not adhering to the FCA handbook: ICOBS 8.1 Insurers: general / ICOBS 6.1 Providing product information to customers: general.

I have notified the FCA, Trading Standards and the CMA as well as the MoneySavingExpert and Watchdog. The Ombudsman will soon be looking into this for me and I will be taking it to court if necessary.

The most appalling insurance company

The most appalling insurance company - fronted by the Post Office Money giving them an air of legitimacy and respectability. Unprofessional and strung me along on my very valid household insurance claim, where I have suffered extensive storm and rainwater damage. Then months later said they could not process the claim - even though the loss adjuster came around, wasted my afternoon and put forward the claim to office.
Now they say they can't agree what category to put the claim under so they won't honour my claim! Claim Reference 8626386. Don't ever buy any insurance that has this company's name connected with it.

Stay Clear of Simply Business & UK General (circulate this info)

The company UK General (underwriters for Great Lakes Insurance SE) has failed to pay part of my insurance claim and chose to appoint a loss adjuster Cunningham Lindsay who according ICO office (who deal with freedom of information due to the public) are the same company> Big conflict of interest. They have chosen not to give any reason for non payment, not adhere to legal time deadlines or their deadlines given in writing.

The company Cunningham Lindsay chose not to inspect the damaged items which were cd's (they looked at 4 out of 2500 cd's because the loss adjuster did not want to dirty his hands) & offered payment on 50% at a reduced price giving absolutely no reason despite accepting my claim.
They told me they had a quote for furniture repair because I also had damaged furniture (which was an outright lie no-one ever inspected the furniture concerned) They said we can offer you a cash settlement on furniture they never looked at. They delay on purpose and their attitude is dreadful.

Please feel free to circulate this review on social media.

Below is a copy of the ICO letter which informed me that Uk General were the same business as Cunningham Lindsay which makes a nonsense of a loss adjuster,

Dear Mr Mills

We are writing to you with regard to the concern you have raised about Cunningham Lindsey UK (Cunningham) and the way they have handled your subject access request (SAR) you made on 19 June 2018.

From the evidence you have provided it appears that Cunningham is in fact a data processor (DP) and not a data controller (DC), which, according to Cunningham is UK General as advised in the correspondence from Cunningham. I have attached this for your reference.

DP acts on behalf of DC and if SAR is made to them, they have a legal obligation to liaise with DC who responds to a SAR.
It seems that this has taken place in your case and Cunningham was asked by UK General to collate your data.

You should therefore liaise with UK General first and in case of their non-compliance with the data protection legal requirements, raise a new concern with the ICO, should you wish to do so.

Should you wish to discuss this case any further, or require any clarification, please do not hesitate to contact me.

If you are responding via email, you can forward your response to our email address with the above case reference in this format [Ref. RFA0772937] in the subject line.

Yours sincerely

This company have proven to be so disrespectful I was insured with the insurance company Simply Business who used Cunningham Linsay to assess my claim.

I strongly recommend not going near Simply Busines, Uk General and Cunningham Linsay.
