United Air Temp came out twice and completely misdiagnosed my HVAC issue.

They kept blaming my thermostat, saying it was causing a fuse to blow—so instead of actually finding the problem, they removed my Nest and Ecobee and replaced them with basic thermostats. If a fuse is blowing, that’s a deeper issue. They just didn’t want to diagnose it.

They also told me I had a refrigerant leak, but instead of finding or fixing it, they just added more refrigerant and left. No real diagnosis—just a temporary patch.

I even have a spring and fall maintenance plan with them, and they still couldn’t figure it out.

I brought in my own HVAC technician, who actually diagnosed the problem correctly—an electrical issue that damaged the refrigerant line. Repair cost me $1,910 .

Then American Home Shield refused reimbursement because I had already fixed the issue—after their contractor failed twice.

At that point, the problem isn’t coverage—it’s that I paid for a service and still had to solve it myself.

2 visits, wrong diagnosis both times
Smart thermostats removed for no reason
Refrigerant leak never properly investigated
Maintenance plan provided no real value
Paid out of pocket for something they should have caught

Would not trust either company to properly diagnose or stand behind their service.

I called on 01/26/2026 explained shower need to be plugged stoppage sink and tub and hot water not getting hot. I realized it was clement weather so they rescheduled me to Friday 01/30/2026 explained over the phone what was going on they sent someone was late window 9a-1pm waiting all day dis not arrive until after window did not have on his trunk what was needed to fix the problem told me have only been employed there only 1 month straight out of the academy not sure how to fix the problem I they had to get the office on the phone would not let them reschedule me already lost 2 days from work waited for another tech that showed up 5 hours later with item purchased from Home Depo did not work still today it is not working put corking around my beautiful bathroom I just had done explained was no corking there still waiting for someone come back fix problem everytime you call they tell you something else

Would not recommend this company. Filed a service request on January 8 with my home warranty company First American Home Warranty and today is January 24. United Air Temp sent a rep 4 times, and my heat pump still doesn’t work. The last rep said it’s working according to its specifications but that it wasn’t built for the frigid weather that we are experiencing. That’s an easy way to wash one’s hands of fixing a problem and to attempt to sell me a new heat pump and to appease the home warranty company from whom I filed a service request through. Said it was operating to specification so I asked them to show me the specification document for my model number and they couldn’t. Why? Because even the manufacturer has no spec sheet because of the unit’s age. They make up stories as the situation requires it. Do I think that United Air Temp is the only company that pulls this BS on clients? No, I don’t. It’s endemic in the trade’s industry because it’s how they take advantage of unknowing or non critical thinking clients or with people who resolve everything by throwing money at a problem.
