I purchased a carpet on the 18th of August. It came visibly stained, with multiple orange coloured marks. I promptly phoned the store, to which I was met with the offer of having the fitter come back and attempt to clean the £400 carpet I had purchased.
I sent an email documenting its condition and received a call from management, who offered a full replacement, which I considered satisfactory. Sadly, this was not carried out with any care at all. The walls within my property have been marked by the handling of the carpet, and the fitting isn’t top tier either, with loose sections and visible ripples.
We have used United Carpets for years without any issues. It’s very disheartening to not only have this happen, but to then be treated with hostility after attempting to reach an amicable resolution.
I documented the condition of the walls and raised the issue regarding the carpet being loose. This was met with an outright denial of liability with respect to both the marked walls and the damage, and explicit confirmation that no remedy of any sort would be provided.
I emailed corporate and they forwarded it to the store, where the manager and owner were needlessly hostile towards my polite request for money towards the paint, to account for the damage to my walls they caused. I witnessed them try to manoeuvre it up the stairs and cause the damage. The owner was present throughout the process and management refused to accept any liability the second time, completely contradicting the written response I received regarding the stained carpet, in which the manager accepted full liability. This will help me if I’m forced to attend a small claims court, which is almost inevitable at this point.
Blaming furniture for transit stains and claiming pre-existing wall damage after workers handled the installation is incredibly frustrating. I was extremely polite in my initial communication, and it absolutely did not warrant the response I received.
It’s worth noting that the owner himself denied any liability in relation to the carpet stains, claiming they’re due to “furniture in the property” and the wall stains are “local causes at the property”.
I watched both him and the fitter drag and manoeuvre the carpet up the stairs like I said, exactly where the scuffs are.
It looks like I’ll have to go to court to cover the damage to my property.
Very dishonest business.

Recently had all upstairs carpets fitted.
What an excellent service from United Carpets and Beds in Chorley.
From going into the shop and being welcomed by Emily who made the buying a very easy experience.
All who work there have been so helpful.
The fitter came on 2 consecutive days to allow us time to move furniture etc.
The carpet fitter has done an excellent job and we are delighted with our new carpets.
If you’re looking for great carpets and service this is definitely the place to go.

Has been my go to place for carpet and flooring for a few years now. The experience in store is great. The staff are helpful and not pushy. The carpets are always decent and the fitters always turn up on the agreed day and the prices are competitive.

We got the carpet fitted
We got the carpet fitted , which was faulty, and was informed from the fitter that he was told to fit it anyway.
But since we complained the carpet has been replaced. The laminate fitter was exceptional can’t rate him enough lovely guy and goes above and beyond what you need.
