There's a reason no one was there...

My dog has been coming to this location since he was 8 weeks old, he is 2.5 years now. I booked a last-minute appointment to have him seen because I realized I was about 2 months behind on a few of his vaccinations. While doing this, I decided to go ahead and get both of my cats in for their rabies vaccine that was about to expire. They are normally seen at their local vet, but this made more sense to me since time has been scarce. I booked 3 appointments in a row, which gets a bit confusing as each appointment comes separate instead of as one. Since I had a dental appointment ahead of time, I cancelled the earlier ones (so I thought) and kept the latter scheduled times. I ended up getting a text saying I had all 6 slots booked! This was definitely an error on my end.
I parked at 4:28, trying to load up my 2 extremely stressed cats and my dog. I am expecting a line and was trying to make sure I was 10 minutes early for my 4:45 appointment. To my surprise, when I walked in, it was empty. There was literally not one soul in line to have their animal seen. I immediately apologized for overbooking and was completely overwhelmed trying to get all the animals in. There was a guy sitting there with his face in his hand and elbow on his knee, a doctor standing there and 2 women talking. The male tech replied "no worries" to my overbooking and directed me where to check in. The same woman that is always there, came up to me with a disdainful look on her face and informed me I was late. I debated this for a moment and then chalked it up to I made an error. Perhaps the cancellation went through but it was for the later appointments? She confirmed this. Accidents happen. I told her I received a text for all 6, and I was feeling bad thinking I overbooked. Now I am considered late, but no one was there. I was not nasty in any way and have never had any confrontations with anyone in this establishment.
I was informed that both of my cats could be seen but not my dog. I asked if there was a way we could have two of them seen and wait to see if someone else doesn't show we could fit the third one in. THE WEBSITE STATES THAT APPOINTMENTS ARE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED BUT WALK INS ARE WELCOME UPON AVAILABILITY. She declined. I then asked if my dog could be seen since he is the one that I considered priority at the moment and I would make an appointment for my cats at their vet. She declined this as well and had an attitude. I was questioning the lack of customers and the unwillingness to work with me. I asked if the doctor was even there and she said yes, but I would not be seeing her for all of my animals. I was treated as if I was a disgruntled customer they were preparing to ban from the moment I walked through the door. It was insulting, unnecessary, rude, and infuriating. No matter what I said I was met with a stern look, and a brash tone as if I had highly inconvenienced them and they were dead set on making an example out of me. After 5 minutes of her unprofessional attitude, I matched it and left vowing to never return. I was perplexed on why seeing my dog was not okay, but seeing two completely frazzled cats that were new patients was more convenient? The only thing I could come up with was that my dog must have been the appointment I missed. As a business myself, there is a way to resolve problems, and there is a way to lose business. Today Vetco along with Petco lost business. Their grooming department is already under scrutiny and as you can see here, most reviews are one star for Vetco. As someone that is connected in this community and networks for a living, I will make sure my experience becomes well known. Do not bring your animals here. Just think, if she was treating me this way for being a few minutes late, imagine how my animals would have treated had I stayed for the ones they were willing to see. The doctor I am sure heard everything. No one seems to care about customer service anymore. This isn't about my part in being tardy, this is about unprofessional staffing, the way they feel they can speak to people and an unwillingness to work on issues that could easily have been resolved. At the end of the day, they just wanted to go home and did not care about my animals or my business. I was willing to admit to my mistake and tried to come to a fair compromise, but her attitude pushed me and I burned that bridge on the way out. Never again will I do business here.

Worst experience ever

Worst experience ever. My dog is allergic to trifexis and they prescribed another heartworm medication that had the same ingredient. I called a couple days later to get the prescription changed and after multiple phone calls and a wasted trip driving back to the location at the direction of Customer Service was told I have to bring my dog back for another exam and another vet has to see him to change the prescription.

They don’t listen and accuse pet owners of things

This is specifically regarding Vetco Total Care in Clinton, Utah.

I am leaving two stars only because the scheduling process was convenient. Unfortunately, the actual veterinary visit was extremely disappointing, and I am requesting that someone in management contact me.

I brought my two Goldendoodles in for ear infections, which they have experienced before have successfully treated with a different veterinarian at this location in the past. I explained what had previously worked for them, but my concerns were dismissed, and I was essentially told that the treatment plan had already been decided. As a pet owner, I expect to have a meaningful voice in the care my dogs receive, especially when I am familiar with their history and prior treatment outcomes.

Instead of focusing on the reason for the visit their ear infections I felt that the appointment shifted toward unrelated concerns such as their weight and tartar buildup. While I understand those topics may be relevant to overall health, they were not the urgent issue we came in for, and the way they were presented made me feel uncomfortable rather than supported.

I was also very upset by how the cuts on one of my dogs’ ears were discussed. I explained that my husband had given them a haircut, which accidentally caused the cuts, and that we had tried to care for the areas at home with over-the-counter products, bandages, and tape. Rather than approaching the situation with professionalism and compassion, the repeated comment that “we caused our dog severe trauma” felt accusatory and unnecessary. I already felt terrible about the situation, and the interaction made it worse.

I was also concerned by several aspects of the medical guidance and handling during the visit. I was told it was uncommon for a dog to have this many ear infections, despite Goldendoodles being well known for ear issues, especially when allergies are involved. I was then told their ears would not be cleaned, plucked, or trimmed, yet I was charged for ear-related packages. That was confusing and frustrating because the previous veterinarian we saw provided a more complete ear treatment plan that was more effective, did not require a follow-up visit so quickly, and caused far less stress for my dogs.

The instructions I received for at-home ear cleaning were also concerning. I was told to use Q-tips deep in the ear canal and to continue cleaning until I saw blood, and that’s just superficial. After the appointment, I researched this and found multiple veterinary sources, publications, and the AKC advising against inserting Q-tips deep into a dog’s ears. I do not feel comfortable following instructions that appear to contradict standard safety guidance.

I was also told to share one medication between both dogs, even though I did not request that option. I was then told that because the medication was being shared, I would likely need another prescription sooner than seven days and would need to return before two weeks, incurring another visit charge plus additional medication costs. That does not seem like the “cheaper” option I was told it would be, especially when it is already more expensive than the treatment we previously received.

There were also sanitation concerns during the appointment. Q-tips were dropped on the floor and then used in my dogs’ ears. The sample collection pallet was also dropped multiple times and still used.

Additionally, I was told my dogs’ eardrums could potentially be ruptured, but they were not checked. I also asked about nail trimming and was told it was not offered, even though we have had it done there before.

Overall, I left feeling that my dogs did not receive the thorough, competent care they needed. I also felt that the treatment plan was more likely to require us to return and pay more. My dogs experience stress and anxiety during vet visits, so unnecessary follow-up appointments are not a minor issue.

I am extremely dissatisfied with this visit and will not be returning to Vetco. I am also requesting a refund. I would appreciate a call from someone above the veterinarian and vet tech involved in this visit.

Do NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY

Returned my dog after they gave him shots. Said the records will arrive shortly via email, send me to the front to pay. Get home to read in the file I need to come back within 120 day to do the deworm they had me pay for. Never told me or I would not have paid to return again.

Worst experience and customer service I…

Worst experience and customer service I have ever dealt with. Back in March, I took my 12 week old puppy for his vaccines and flea/ tick medication. I was promised I would receive A prescription to renew the medication. It has been 2 weeks since he has been past due, I have called Vetco support multiple times to get his Subscription sent over, and received nothing.

I called once I realized he was due and saw the prescription I was promised was never sent over a week ago. His medical records are on file and I was promised by the vets that a Prescription would be sent during his 12 week visit to renew his medication that never was. When I called customer service they gave me the runaround said they will send me an email in two days that I never received. I called again today, Again met with silence and was denied re-ordering my medication via email and never received a follow up. Call center then promised to connect me with a supervisor to simply get flea and tick medication for my puppy.

I was promised a call today after calling there call center within 30-45 minutes. No answer. Nothing. No call. No follow - up.

Please do not use any Vetco service that Petco provides as they do not look out for the best interest of your family member and refused to provide very simple medication, regardless of if a subscription was supposed to be provided. This is simple, flea and tick medication, not morphine. The fact that for one, my dog never received the prescription we were promised, and the multiple calls I’ve made fell on deaf ears and after being promised for over a week follow up, received nothing and we are in prime flea and tick season.

Please do not use any veterinary service that any Petco provides as they are only looking out for the best interest them and do not care for your dog.

Also, for reference, I am very familiar with this third-party call center that is used for that Vetco and I will be reporting it.

Thank you. And please, go anywhere else. Learned my lesson.

Extremely hard to work with if you need help

I'd had good experiences previously. But I failed to check that the rabies vaccination came through before I left as my dog Is elderly and I wanted to get him home. When I got home I found the the rabies certificate was not attached with the other documentation in the email. I contacted them and they sent it but it was pended. The veterinarian had forgotten to sign in. I have called repeatedly and still do not have the rabies vaccination I paid for. They indicated it could take from three to five business days to investigate. I will never go there again.

I will never set foot in another Petco…

I will never set foot in another Petco after being lured in by a Facebook ad from their partner vet company, VetCo. Every other Sunday would be a good time to avoid this store because they have two long lines of potentially unvaccinated mixed dogs and cats with no waiting system to prevent infection. I waited over 45 minutes to be told that I would need to pay over $400 for Symparica Trio in order to get the “free” heartworm test advertised with purchase of Simparica Trio. I was assuming I would have to get 3 or 6, but no, a year, and the price is not at all competitive. It’s a great deal cheaper at Chewy with their upfront promotions. I exposed my dog to potentially unvaccinated animals for a fine print gimmick! Never again!

I also noticed that Petco is more expensive than PetSmart. A three pack of my dog’s favorite balls, Kong Squeakair, costs $7.99. At PetSmart it costs $5.49!

They are a rip-off!

Mobile Vetco used to be my go-to for on the spot vaccines, but no more! I hadn't been there in a while, and a lot has changed for the worse! What used to be a $30 vaccine maybe 2 or 3 years ago is now $51 (DA2PP 5-way). I usually vaccinate at home (I can in my state), but had a personal emergency, and needed a vet administered vaccine to kennel my dog. Mobile Vetco had an opening the same day as my emergency. The person checking me in made a big push for packages I did not need. I was shocked at the $51 price tag, but had no other choice. Why is that important? As someone who vaccinates at home, those vaccine vials cost only $5 per vial after you add in shipping. The vet and supplier are getting it cheaper from the manufacturer so they can make a profit. So $51 is a huge upcharge!!!!! ADDITIONALLY, I take all my pets to a local spay/neuter program where Petco donates the DA2PP vaccine if your pet is there to be spayed/neutered AND you are getting the rabies vaccine. Clearly they can afford to give away vaccines! The next time I need a vet administered vaccine, I'm going to Tractor Supply. It's a first come first serve policy, but they are much cheaper than Vetco. Also, that needle disposal fee is a major rip-off. The Sharps container does cost money. But let's just say it holds 1000 needles. Vetco is charging $3 per needle disposal. It does not cost $3000 to send a Sharps container in. Plus the insane prices of Vetco's vaccines! Thank goodness it's rare I need a vet administered vaccine (other than rabies). I do my own grooming, and normally my babies come with me when I travel.

Went to vetco for initial vaccines…

Went to vetco for initial vaccines which was fine. 1 momma and 3 kittens. Male runt was coughing and the Dr misdiagnosed him with a enlarged heart and referred us to a cardiologist. Well after the $900 charges from the cardiologist and told they me that the enlarged heart was a common misdiagnosed problem. I am out the $900 due to poor diagnostic evaluation and Inexperienced veterinarian training. Very disappointing, happy that cat is healthy though?

Scam vaccine package

Paid for a 3 vaccine package, I got two of them and then they canceled the third round of vaccine. They never followed up for the third vaccine and just canceled the $400 package. I showed up to complete it and they demanded another $100 to complete it. The staff recognized the mistake and said it was my fault even though they never followed up and had changed my email to prevent any notifications. Scammy practice would recommend a real vet.

This animal hospital is a joke.

This animal hospital is a joke.
Very rude front desk associates.
My friend brought her furbaby cat in for a free exam and a complete new exam wasn’t even done completely. They didn’t check her lungs or heart or ears. The cat has a lump and they automatically wanted to do a biopsy to check for cancer without even explaining what types of cancer they were looking for !
My friend explained her financial situation when inquiring how much the biopsy would cost ; my friend explained what funds she had , including her Care Credit credit card.
They then said there was two different biopsy tests they could do after they found out the financial situation of my friend . This Vetco in Turlock California also did not inform us that they would have to send the sample out to another lab; yet the website boasts they can handle emergency situations! Not even true!!!!
So my friend goes to check out and pay at the front desk and she was told that she couldn’t get the free new patient exam waived because she was using her care credit credit card and told her she needed to use a real credit card?????
What kind of BS is this?
My friend is disabled and was already very upset and worried about her furbaby only to be treated rudely by the front desk staff and manager!!!!!
How do we know a biopsy was even done? How do we know they would even send the slides out to another lab?
We are very disappointed and disgusted with this pet hospital as well as PETCO in general!
My friend has contacted the Better Business Bureau and is currently waiting on their response after getting no help from the corporate office!
Do yourself and your furbabies a favor; go to an actual pet hospital with veterinarians that have experience and know what they are doing!
We refuse to take any other pets there for Vet Care and we also will not be buying anything from PETCO stores ever again!
We would give no stars or negative stars if we could!

Don’t do it; call other local places

I made an appointment with the hospital and waited all day to show up and find out it was transferred to the vaccination clinic. I could have been trying to take my cat to a different vet and now my cat is suffering for longer because of vetco’s system. I checked my account and it said I made the appointment with the hospital. I tried to complain and got blocked from sending a message. I called and cried on the phone explaining the situation just for the person to say “have a good day, my name is Mary” then hang up on me.

Horrible customer service

Horrible customer service. You literally can not speak to anyone that has real answers. They can schedule an appointment or send you an address, but that is about it. The previous review said to take your pet to a real vet and I completely agree!

Unprofessional and expensive

Follow up: I'm changing my review to 1 star. I finally heard back from management Caitlin Griffith and all she did was gaslight me and make excuses for the vets decision to not fully explain the situation or follow standard treatment. She acted like it was normal my cat suffered an extra 10 days due to her clinic not offering me pain meds, not offering the surgery, not offering to drain his ear. They wanted it to heal naturally, which is never a guarantee and literally ruins their ear. They can get extreme ear deformities called cauliflower ear if it's left untreated. IN ADDITION, if a hematoma is not treated surgically it is guaranteed to come back. None of this was explained by Dr. Tatum. I had to learn all of this by calling around and getting second opinions! Not to mention, the second appointment I made with their vet the girl up front changed my appointment to seeing a vet tech without my permission because despite my cat being in obvious pain and my clear distress they didn't feel it was important that he see the vet that I scheduled the appointment online to see. They changed it and didn't bother informing me until the appointment was half complete. So, no apology beyond "I'm sorry you feel this way but..." No attempt to reimburse the money they did not earn. 500$ and all they did was a steroid shot and pain pills. The trip to the EMERGENCY AFTER HOURS VET WAS CHEAPER. Seriously, if you love your animal and want them to be healthy and not fkn deformed with chronic ear issues from malpractice then I recommend taking them ANYWHERE but here. I've been using PETCO for 20 years and this is how they treat a member of my family and show appreciation for my business? My advice is DO NOT GO HERE. Take your beloved pet family member to Conroe Emergency Vet over next to Target. They are kind, quick, way waaay more affordable and most of all aren't just some big corporation out to rob you blind while your pets health deteriorates as they suffer in pain. I'm reporting them to the BBB straight up. Miss Caitlin and how much she will interrupt, talk over you, raise her voice and repeat herself. She will do anything but listen or act like she cares what happened to your animal at all. She is completely unprofessional and lacks empathy or compassion as she's too concerned about hearing herself and being right than listening or trying to put herself in someone else's shoes. Her personality is spiteful and so rude. She mentioned I left early the 2nd appointment and I told her my father in law had a heart attack while I was there and I got the phone call at the end of the appointment as I was paying. No sorry to hear that, just ignored it and kept talking over me.

‐---

I gave two stars because the staff was very nice. However, I scheduled an appointment for my MCoon to get his ear infection looked at that had a pretty big hematoma. They gave him meds but didn't drain the ear. I came back two days later because his ear was twice the size it was before only to be told they didn't need to drain it and only after I asked did they give us some gabapentin. I was told it would take about five days to heal. Well, over the weekend it got even bigger with red striations. So after already spending 400$ at vetco I had to take him to the ER in the middle of the night. There is no after hours service at vetco or follow up care. Their machine says to call an ER in Spring that is incredibly expensive compared to the one here in Conroe in addition to being further away. Anyway, the ER Vet was furious they didn't drain his ear. He says my cat was in so much pain for two weeks needlessly. That the first thing you do for a hematoma dog or cat is drain it to relieve pressure. I am so upset! I asked the vetco people at BOTH VISITS MULTIPLE TIMES WHY IT WASN'T BEING DRAINED. I was told it would go away on its own. The vet barely spent 5 minutes with my cat, if indeed a vet saw him at all because they take your animal to the back to be examined. I'm telling you that I'm looking into this vets license and I'm reporting them to the BBB.

Take your pet to a real vet!

I purchased a Kitten Pro Shield Package at the cost of $200. My kitten got out of the house and lost. The package included microchipping, vaccinations, worming and testing for feline leukemia. I called because the microchip number was not found on the vital records report. As it turns out, they did not microchip either of the kittens I paid for and took to all three visits. I do not recommend anyone use this service for a pet that you care anything about.

Fiarview Park

The only good thing is that they have alot of appointments available. BUT if they aren't going to help your pet then it's useless. Sent my dog home without any cough meds because she couldn't hear his heart due to him squirming..well first of all he should have been in the room with me and he would've been fine...She stated that they can do an xray with sedation to see what his heart is doing..No ill get a vet that knows what the hell they are doing! Which is what I did..took him to Banfield he stood rt there and let her check his heart and lungs with no problem...the tech held him and that was it! Got the cough medicine that I needed..always follow your gut and get a second opinion folks! He won't be back there.
