About Vets Now
Pet emergencies can happen at any time – including when your regular vet is closed.
That’s why our nationwide network of out-of-hours pet emergency clinics are open through the night, at weekends and on bank holidays, so we’re ready and waiting to provide expert pet emergency care when your regular vet is having some time off.
Our pet emergency clinics are the pet equivalent of A&E and our purpose is to give you and your pet the care and support you deserve, at the time you need it most, whether it’s four in the morning or in the middle of Sunday lunch.
Vets Now provides this trusted service to more than 1000 veterinary practices across the UK — from over 60 dedicated out-of-hours clinics and two 24/7 pet emergency hospitals. In total, we treat around 200,000 small animals every year — our highly-skilled team works hard throughout the night, weekends and Bank Holidays. So whether you’re in Aberdeen, Belfast or Portsmouth we’re there for you and your pet when you need us most.
We’ve also pioneered other ways to help pets, pet owners and the veterinary profession, such as our comprehensive referrals service and providing our staff with industry-leading training and development opportunities. We also support the pet blood transfusion charity, Pet Blood Bank UK. Meanwhile, our two hospitals — in Glasgow and Manchester — are home to some of the UK’s leading specialists in the field of emergency and critical care and provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Thank you
Staff were all so friendly, patient and understanding. The vets looking after our cat, Kelly and Siobhan, were excellent at their job and experts in their field.
We can’t thank you all enough.

clear instructions, smooth service and very professional
from my initial phone call inquiry, everything was laid out clearly for me, directions, what to expect, etc. When I arrived, I was seen immediately as no one else was waiting. The vet was thorough and clear and sorted my cat Goose out.

We were seen quickly by sympathetic staff. My dear pugs eye was completely hanging out. I did feel she should have been kept in longer, on oxygen, as her breathing was very bad for some hours after discharge.
She is still very much in the recovery stage as her eye was removed. Fingers crossed.

Cannot fault the service at all they were brilliant. The staff were excellent.
My issue is the cost. To remove a grass seed was £625.
Absolutely scandalous!
No wonder this country is having so many problems!!!

DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE!
DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE!!
The most disappointing part of my experience with Vets Now wasn’t even the treatment itself – it was the complaint investigation afterwards.
The response I received was full of contradictions. On one hand, they admitted that side effects should have been discussed before treatment and acknowledged communication failings. They also stated that a reaction to the medication could not be ruled out. Yet somehow they still concluded that nobody had done anything wrong.
The complaint response also contained factual inaccuracies, including stating that my dog’s symptoms appeared around 12 hours after treatment when I had repeatedly explained they began around 6–7 hours afterwards. If basic facts are recorded incorrectly, it raises serious questions about how thoroughly the complaint was investigated.
What frustrated me further was that the investigation appeared willing to accept staff recollections as fact while dismissing concerns raised by me, despite there being no call recordings available to verify what was actually said.
The overall impression was not of an independent or impartial investigation, but of a process designed to defend the actions of colleagues regardless of the evidence presented.
I can accept mistakes. What I cannot accept is a complaint response that acknowledges failings throughout the letter and then concludes that everything was handled appropriately.
For that reason, I have lost confidence in both Vets Now’s complaints process and its willingness to take accountability when concerns are raised.
I can't thank the team enough!
I can't thank the team enough for the care and kindness they showed my cat and me during a really stressful time.
I'd only just landed home at 3am when I realised my elderly cat needed urgent veterinary attention. I'd never had to use an emergency vet before, so I was feeling worried and didn't know what to expect.
My cat absolutely hates being in a carrier, so I brought him in wearing a harness instead. The lady who looked after him was so lovely and patient with him from the moment we arrived. She was gentle, caring and made us both feel at ease.
What stood out most was that I genuinely felt like she cared about him. She treated him with such kindness and compassion, and that meant the world to me.
Thank you so much for everything you did for us. I'm incredibly grateful for the support and care we received.

Dog euthanasia the big con.
My comment is based upon a nieghbour's latest vet visit. Sadly their dog had to be put down, the cost £200. This was just a straight animal euthansia!!! I was a bit shocked at the price. No more than emotional robbery, I will not name the vets only to say it was local and in the Medway towns UK.

First Out of hours visit
I had to attend the out of hours service for the first time with my dog last week! Shocking how much it cost just to be seen. I was quoted £213 on the phone before settling off and then was charged £313 and that was without any medication issued! But it says in their terms you will be given an estimated fee! No fault of the staff but these prices are ridiculous because of course we are going to pay them as we love our pets.

Such wonderful and caring people
When our beloved cat, of 18 years, passed away at home it was traumatic to say the least. It was over a weekend and our own vets were unavailable. The team at Vets Now could not have done enough for us. They made us feel welcome and gave us the time needed, they went above and beyond.
Following on from the process we received a heart felt message in a beautiful card and this was very much appreciated.
I can only say the biggest thank you to such wonderful people at a very difficult time for our family.

We went to the emergency room with a suspected ear infection. The dog was howling profusely. He received antibiotics in one ear and an injection on the spot. Later, when the injection wore off, the dog continued howling. We called to say something was wrong. They said we could come back and pay another 400 or so for a new appointment. It was a joke. Luckily, our vet started in the morning and we went. It turned out the infection was in both ears, not just one. The antibiotic may have been accurate, but the diagnosis was incomplete. Our vet gave the dog painkillers and anti-inflammatory tablets for a few days, and he finally stopped howling in pain. The emergency room service was nice, but the doctor's competence for the price left much to be desired, as the help and diagnosis were incomplete, and the dog continued to suffer.
