I am incredibly grateful for Ward's support throughout what was a lengthy litigation with an extremely difficult and obstructive defence. Despite ongoing attempts to bring the dispute to a close amicably, the defendant was persistent in wanting to take the matter to the final hearing. Thankfully, we succeeded.

I want to express particular thanks to Richard Darbinian, who fought exceptionally hard for me against a team of several defence lawyers, and to Jay Jagasia, an exceptionally talented barrister. Both of whom always had my best interests at heart, with an immense determination to bring me justice.

Timely, professional & empathetic

I rarely leave negative reviews, but unfortunately my experience with Wards’ Wills & Probate department was extremely disappointing.

What should have been a straightforward Will drafting process became unnecessarily long and frustrating. Throughout the matter I repeatedly had to chase for responses, waited far longer than was reasonable for replies to emails, and on several occasions my questions and instructions were either overlooked or not properly addressed, requiring me to repeat myself.

The most serious issue occurred when I was mistakenly sent another client’s confidential Will. While the firm apologised and confirmed that its internal data breach procedures had been followed, this understandably caused me to lose confidence in the way my own matter was being handled.

Following my formal complaint, Wards accepted that there had been unacceptable delays, acknowledged that some of my instructions had been overlooked, and offered £100 as a gesture of goodwill. In my view, this did not adequately reflect the overall level of inconvenience, the amount of time I spent chasing progress, or the cumulative failings throughout the handling of my matter.

It is worth noting that the firm’s responses focused heavily on explaining that the legal advice provided was correct. However, that was never the substance of my complaint. I would naturally expect a firm of solicitors to provide competent legal advice. My complaint related to the overall quality of the client service, communication, delays and handling of my instructions.

I had expected far better from a well-established firm. Unfortunately, my confidence in Wards was lost, and I decided not to proceed with my Will through them.

This review reflects my personal experience.

Wards responded to my review asking me to contact them if I wanted to discuss the matter further to the email provided. I did exactly that, giving them another opportunity to reconsider their position and asking them to let me know whether they were willing to do so. Unfortunately, my email keeps bouncing back as “undelivered”, so I cannot even reach them through the address they provided. Very disappointing once again.

I engaged Wards Solicitors, Bristol, in July 2023 to handle my no-fault divorce.

Throughout the process my ex-spouse and I remained on amicable terms and were able to reach agreement on all matters. On the advice of Wards Solicitors, we used a mediator who prepared a Memorandum of Understanding and Financial Statement at a cost of £600 (paid to the mediator).

At the outset I was advised that the divorce should take around six months and would cost a fixed fee of £600.

The Final Order was eventually obtained in May 2026, two years and ten months after I instructed Wards Solicitors. During that period I paid Wards Solicitors a total of £4,817.

I was disappointed by the difference between the original estimate and the eventual time taken and cost incurred. It is true that my ex's first solicitor was hopeless. It is also true that my ex was slow to respond but neither of these factors can account for the two years and ten months that it eventually took.

I cannot recommend Wards enough for their support with the house buying process! I’m a first time solo buyer, so the whole process seemed a bit intimidating at first. My first property purchase unfortunately fell through, but after much determination, I’ve now just moved into my dream home! I felt that the whole team genuinely cared, which meant so much to me as someone going into it on my own.

Tom Bowering went above and beyond to help me understand each step, and provide invaluable insight. While instructed, his due diligence was top tier, finding clauses that I should be aware of. Subsequently, I didn’t purchase the property - but wow, I really dodged a bullet! No question was too ridiculous for Tom, and trust me, I asked a lot of questions!

Matthew Pitt was instructed for the next property (which is now my home) and it was an absolute breeze! Communicative, meticulous and genuine- from start to finish, I was never left in the dark.

Both Tom and Matt are a stellar example of what Wards can do!

I’m thrilled to bits that I’ve ended up with the property of my dreams, but I couldn’t have done it without Ward’s expertise, support and efficiency.
