The Waterside Hotel at Barton under Needwood. Having booked a reservation along with seven friends at the waterside. What a disappointing experience I found to my surprise a rubber band in my curry pork chops tough desserts when they eventually came were only warm.What a shame no one including the manager appeared to be interested.Yours sincerely g mcphee mrs

We were greeted by faeces

When we arrived our room stunk of faeces and the toilet bowl was full of faeces. We asked reception for an air freshener and presumed the toilet had been left that way by the cleaners (not so). We went out for the evening and came back to another toilet bowl full of faeces. We let reception know as we didn’t want the cleaners getting into trouble as it clearly wasn’t their fault, they told us they would let maintenance know . The next morning the toilet bowl was full of faeces again , we realised it was filling up when other residents used their toilets. We went out for a few hours after breakfast, came back and all was well. But we were so anxious because we knew it would fill up with other people’s faeces again. We left early that afternoon as we couldn’t bear the thought of staying there another night . When we informed reception we were told maintenance would be informed (again!) and that they could move us rooms . We are both disabled and by this stage we couldn’t deal with all that it would entail . We write a complaint to the hotel . After 3 weeks we have had a reply - they are offering us 10% off a future booking with them . Unbelievable. We shared a room with other guests faeces and the best they can offer is 10% off a next trip!

Waterside Hotels Group complete cheapskates

I have absolutely no complaints with the Park House Hotel, Blackpool but with the group who owns it, Waterside Hotels.

The hotel itself welcomed us and looked after us like Kings and Queens.

I won't go into how excellent the hotel was because I will review them separately.

My complaint is about the owners, the Waterside Hotels Group.

We went to the Park House Hotel, Blackpool in November 24 for the illuminations and Turkey and Tinsel.

When we had our Christmas dinner we were told we would all be given a present.

Half way through the meal Santa turned up and gave us all our present.

It was an inferior pen advertising the Waterside Group of hotels. Mine broke the next day.

I felt this was despicable and so did many of the residents who received one.

None of us expected the Crown Jewels of course but to be given a rubbish pen advertising the group who owns the hotel is despicable.

I am sure the giving of pens was not the idea of the hotel and I am sure the bosses of the Waterside Hotels Group told them to give them to the guests.

We had 2 sets of people came with us on the coach. We went to the Park House and the other group to the Carousel hotel.

They were given a box of chocolates not a pen.

I contacted the Waterside Group on 2 occasions to complain about the derisory gift but both has been totally ignored.

They obviously care little for the people who stay at their hotels

Being given a pen advertising their hotels in my opinion was an insult and it would have been better not to have received anything at all.

Perhaps the Waterside Hotels Groups name should be changed to 'Cheapskate' Hotel Group

I note Trustpilot will inform the hotel group of this review abut I don't expect them to get a reply or me either.

This has not changed my opinion of the Park House because we enjoyed our stay there so much that we intend going there again this year

Christmas on the Fylde Coast 2024

If you are considering visiting the Fylde Coast for Christmas, the Doric Hotel Blackpool is highly recommended.
Everything was excellent - food, wine, company, atmosphere - everything for a great Christmas.
Special thanks to our hard working, pleasant waitress Jade who was on a day off the day we left, so personal thanks were not possible.

Beautiful hotel

Beautiful hotel, leisure facilities brilliant the gym is the best hotel gym I have ever used. Very clean hotel, the staff so helpful & friendly. The breakfast was amazing so much to choose from & eggs of all types cooked fresh to order. Only down side the rooms are small we booked an extra large double & it was just a double. Will definitely stay again though.

Amazing Staff

We stayed at this hotel for the weekend, because we were attending our friends' wedding in Stockport. We booked a small double room, which was much smaller then we expected (literally, not enough room to swing a cat. Lol). The "double" bed was barely big enough for the two of us, even though we are not the biggest of people. Despite that, we enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Leisure facilities were excellent. Pool, spa, Hydrotherapy pool, steam room etc were very relaxing. The food we had from the cafe/restaurant was very nice. Breakfast was very very good with plenty of choice. Omelettes and eggs cooked to order. Breakfast staff couldn't do enough to help us. In fact, all the hotel staff were brilliant. All very friendly and helpful. Made us feel very welcome. We would stay at this hotel again. Thank you to all the staff but especially the breakfast staff on 6 October.

Positives first

Positives first - staff are lovely, hotel is clean and leisure facilities are great with a good sized pool, sauna, steam rooms and jacuzzis. Breakfast was great with a wide choice and regularly replenished and even cooked to order if required.
Less positive - room was tiny, the double bed was not a double and not comfortable for 2. No locker keys available on day 1 so had to wait for staff to provide access to wet areas and hung about locked in for some time until a guest let me through. Day 2 had a locker key which didn’t work.
Maybe a good room for a single traveller just passing through but at the high price, was expecting something more luxurious than a box room smaller than a chain rival at £39
My invoice had somebody else’s card details too - fortunately only the first and last 4 digits so not visible
