A genuine review of a very poor restaurant was continually "Filtered" by Yelp, presumably, so as not to appear negative against their customer. Trying to resolve the issue proved impossible. No response ever received from Yelp at all and post continued to be filtered even given 5 stars with text confirming that any stars were unwarranted

I received a $300 promotional credit for Yelp ads. I couldn't use it by the expiration date due to a medical emergency. When I was ready to use it I called Yelp and asked to use it. The 1st person I spoke to said she couldn't do anything and kept trying to push me to buy one of their long term advertising packages. I asked to speak to a manager and she transferred me a general voicemail box which automatically hung up on me.

I called back and got someone else who told me the same thing. I asked to speak to a manager and she repeatedly told me, "I don't know why you want to speak to a manager, they're going to tell you the same thing. Aren't you listening? No. You can't use the ad. Just buy a long term advertising package with us." I asked again to speak to her manager and she said he was on a conference call, then away from his desk, then out of the office.

One day later I was sent another coupon for more Yelp ads. Thinking they were trying to make things right due to their salespeople's abysmal behavior and unprofessionalism, I gladly clicked on the link to set up my ad. A message appeared stating, "You are not eligible for this promotion" and telling me to call customer service again. So I called customer service and spoke to someone. She tells me that she has no idea why that happened and put me on hold to speak to her operations department. She comes back and says the operations department is refusing to send me another coupon saying I must not be eligible for some reason. She then says only thing I can do is to buy one of their long term advertising packages.

What a disgusting, slimy company. Absolutely no integrity.

You can't contact these people. I wanted to report to them that eBay are selling fake 5* reviews for them. Maybe they already know and don't care.
So Yelp, I'm reporting it here instead.

Their advertised numbers are all out of service.

Ever tried contacting YELP?

You cant because they are pretty useless at customer support. They hide any contact information because they are a two bit company running a boiler room. Ridiculous

Waste off time they just want your money

I wrote a review and they marked it as not recommended. yeah they only show the bad reviews, I think SUCH A STUPID WEBSITE!!!!!!!!!!!!

They hide genuine reviews, focus on the "Yelp Featured" reviews which are always the most negative. They automatically reverse the reviews so the negative are always first when you click the "Not recommended reviews"

For a company with thousands of reviews, of course there's going to be a few dissatisfied customers who will 1 - 3 star the company based on their experience, yet top base their scoring system on the "top 5" they choose and the top 5 are rarely over a 2 star.

Once customers signed a contract we asked them to review our service on Yelp. To date we have 12 reviews on Yelp, but only the negative review is showing.

It's an absolute farce! Do not trust reviews posted on Yelp.

In 2009 I claimed the page for my business on Qype. Sometime in the past couple of years Yelp acquired Qype. The Qype page disappeared and reviews were imported on to Yelp.

We had one positive review from 2010 and one negative review from 2013. Initially both reviews were imported showed on the profile. Then the single positive review was moved to the "not recommended" section. This is even after it had been showing on Qype for over 3 years!

(The negative review was from a person who told untruths mixed with paranoia in her scathing review. She was offered a full refund if she returned the product but she refused. She opened a case in PayPal which PayPal closed in our favour. Even after that I still maintained the offer that I would refund in full on return of the product. She never returned it.)

Since then we have had a further 8 positive reviews, all have been moved to the "not recommended" section. I know who 7 of them are and can prove that they are real and regular customers of my business. Every single positive review has been hidden.

People in the UK are not as interested in writing Yelp reviews as in the USA. They don't leave lots of reviews or have lots of yelp friends.

The problem for me is that when you Google search my company name, Yelp comes up top of the search results with that glowing single star. It is starting to hurt the business.

Why can't they show some of the positive reviews so it is balanced and fair?

IF YOU POST A 1-2 STAR RATING YOUR REVIEW IS DELETED OR YOUR ACCOUNT IS BLOCKED BCUZ THE BUSINESS OWNER PAYS ADS TO YELP...
I HAVE LOST MY TRUST IN YELP, THEY ALSO RUIN SMALL BUSINESSES THAT CAN'T AFFORD MONTHLY 200 USD AD, THEY SIMPLY FABRICATE A FAKE 1-STAR REVIEW OF THEM RUINING THEIR REPUTATION

I wrote 3 reviews a few years ago, all of which have been hidden and marked as not recommended. Don't understand why they would have? Seems a bit pointless writing reviews for this site, if this is how they end up.

Removed every good review of our company leaving the solitary one star bad review which showed up on Google and let's face it. No-one's using a one star rated company are they?

Our 4 star rating for the past year destroyed, now we've been awaiting answers for two weeks without response.

Shambolic.

As a small business owner I have been subjected to the systematic ruthlessness of the yelp auto review system as a consequence of Qype UK merging with Yelp UK.

You'd think you'd have some hand holding & point of contact, but, no, just auto responder emails. Telephone No? Forget it.

Bottom line is, we have very good, genuine reviews on my business, yet, they decide to show the only, few, negative reviews we have & ignore the majority, which are the positive.

Now looking into their policy, if the people reviewing are not active, they will deem them dubious/false & not show them. We can prove they are genuine, but can we get anybody to listen - no we cannot. Hmm, methinks this is a contradiction in their review policies as this is appalling service.

In the meantime, it's damaging my brand & sales.

We have now actioned our review policy with a professional company where you have the basics in communication you expect in the 21c like account managers & telephone numbers.

Any business owners out there go to Feefo or Trustpilot for your review requirements as these guys are a joke & clearly do not give a damn,
