We had a shared ownership with Your Home from 2016 to 2026 and initially were happy with things although the purchase was hard work at the time.
We owned 20% (£90,000) of our property and paid rent and service charge of £1467 on the remainder.
Over 10 years this went up to £2503 by April 2026. Fortunately we had decided to sell up in March 2025 although this took an inordinate length of time - not all the fault of Your Home. We are now private renting at a cost of £1550 - saving ourselves £1000 per month which is unbelievable.
We do take responsibility for not reading the lease in detail and not taking extra advice on it. The formula for the increase in rent did not appear at first glance to be a problem but in hindsight we should have been more careful.
I am leaving this review in the hope that we save someone else the burden that we found ourselves with. Initially paying £17604 per annum to paying £30036 per annum - not far off double in 10 years.
Did we make a profit? Our share went from £90000 to £134000 and we paid out around £12000 in fees for the sale so we made a profit of around £30000. This doesn't seem a lot over 10 years especially in Surrey where we live.
Would I recommend shared ownership - yes if done through a social housing group who have much lower rents and rent increases but no if done through a 'for profits' company such as Your Home or Heylo Housing.

The fact that we could do this in a wider search area helped lots, we tried to look more locally but struggled to find anything within our budget. We had been looking at shared ownership properties but hadn't realised you could do it on existing properties instead of just new builds, this gave us a much bigger choice to find somewhere suitable for our needs. Emma was very helpful with our queries before we applied, and Camilla was helpful throughout each step of the buying process so thank you

I am genuinely blown away. Buying a shared ownership home with YourHome has redefined what modern home buying looks like. Unlike traditional shared ownership, you’re not restricted to new builds, you can choose any home, anywhere in England, exactly as you would through a conventional purchase. Because of that freedom, I was able to buy a home right next to my family, literally a three‑minute walk in either direction. That isn’t an exaggeration im trying to give an example how your not restricted to where you want to buy your home.
This model is also Sharia compliant, which made it the right and only choice for me. Shared ownership has had its fair share of problems and bad press in the past, but things have evolved. This is real ownership, with the ability to staircase all the way to 100%. It’s a modern, transparent product designed for real people on real home buyig journeys.
As a self‑employed buyer, I’ve faced countless barriers with other organisations especially other Sharia compliant options like Gatehouse and StrideUp, which were far too rigid and practically impossible for someone in my situation. I researched every competitor to the YourHome model, and YourHome was by far the best.
I had consultants Ben and Camilla, and they were exceptional. I was stressed at the start and very direct at times, but they always responded with honesty, clarity, and complete transparency. Camilla, who managed everything after the initial stages, was incredibly patient and never gave up on me. They listened, they understood, and they worked with me to find a solution something rare in this industry. When you call them, you’re speaking to real people, not scripted robots.
If you have a large enough deposit and long standing consistent regular income I can completely whole heartedly recommend.
We love our new home
I actually want to say something else very important. I genuinely hope senior management recognises how vital it is to keep their customer service team supported and motivated, and readily available with quick responses, because when people like Ben and Camilla are happy in their roles, their passion and potential shine through. They go out of their way to help, and they do it with warmth, something you rarely see elsewhere, where you’re treated like a number and dismissed within minutes. Even the others I spoke to if brief Emma and Matt I believe, were showing signs of similar attitudes.
YourHome has the formula absolutely right. Protect it, invest in it, and word of mouth will carry this company even further.

- Took me 5 Months to write review, I wanted to write it from the heart and needed time.
- Pleasing Allah opens the door to success. that door was Yourhome which is now become a very important piece of my Life's journey, it means alot.
- Have patience its still an application process, but this company from the other 3 models i looked into deeply, is by far the best option.
- Still need to Staircase in future to 100%.
- 2 reviews I have ever done in 7 years.

Heylo were really helpful all through my house purchase process. After my divorce i needed to buy as quickly as possible and this scheme was perfect for me. I was also real happy to be able to buy any freehold property, it gave me so much more choice

My marriage came to an end at the start of last year and we needed to sell our joint home, I didn’t want to waste the equity on paying someone else’s mortgage while renting, and having cats made finding a rental difficult anyway.
A friend who works for a at risk of homelessness charity suggested Your Home and it sounded perfect.
I now own 28% of a property I could never have dreamed I’d be able to own.
The process from start to finish was clear, easy and explained well if I had questions, the hardest part was choosing the house to buy and the sale of the joint home.
Ben Kippin was my contact and he was very professional, friendly and patient, but everyone I have had contact with through Your Home has been just the same.
I would 100% recommend this product as a way to buy a house

The staff (particularly Emma) were helpful throughout the application and purchase. They were easy to contact and quick to reply. I wouldn't have been able to buy or rent a 3 bed on my own for my family without Heylo's shared ownership scheme as it was available on any house, not just new build.

The information was given to us in full prior to our application and once we decided to go ahead it was confirmed promptly that we had been excepted,
We thought that at our time of life we would not be able to have the security of part owner a home again, myself retired from the NHS and my husband self employed, we had sold our house a year previously but not enough equity to purchase somewhere else fully, so had been renting for a year,
With help from Camilla at Heylo Housing we are now settled in a lovely bungalow which is now our forever home , we would recommend Heylo Housing for anyone wanting get on the housing ladder.

At the age of 76, I never dreamt that I would be buying a house. But here I am, just a few months down the line, in my own home! So ok, I don't own all of it, but I own enough not to feel I'm beholden to a landlord and all the constraints renting a property brings - I can paint the walls purple with black spots and then fill my garden with gnomes if I want to.
So what made it so special choosing Your Home (Heylo Housing). For me, it was down to Camilla Stephens who processed my application entirely from beginning to the end. From the outset, I was worried, that at the age of 76, I wouldn't get the opportunity to buy a house. Camilla was clear about how Your Home were able to move people of different ages, backgrounds and circumstances onto the housing ladder and be able to buy an non-new build property. I didn't want to live on a new build estate, far too 'samey' for me -now I'm living in a 1936 house, in a street where neighbours have introduced themselves and are so friendly. Some of my neighbours have lived on the street for 40 + years. Not everyone's choice I know, but I love it.
So a big shout out to 'YOUR HOME' for all your help and making this possible. But a particular thank you to Camilla for all her patience, knowledge and efficiency.

Heylo housing your home scheme was the only option for me following divorce and having to sell the joint house. The main benefit being you can choose any property on the open market and are not restricted to buying an expensive new build property. I now own a 45% share and pay rent on the remaining. You can buy more shares as and when or just stick with what you’ve got. My experience has been smooth from start to finish and I have my own home again.

I’m an absolute dinosaur with technology but Heylo housing was fantastic and my agent Ben Kippin helped me out all the way and nothing was too much trouble for him. He’s an absolute credit to Heylo housing. I would absolutely buy another shared ownership with Heylo.

Definately 5 star service. Fantastic help from the lovely Emma S throughout made this an amazing experience. I looked at shared ownership locally and could only find new builds locally, which is not what I wanted. Heylo enabled me to choose a house on the market that I wanted located exactly where I wanted. The amount of rent I now pay is a third of what I was paying to a private landlord and I now have security. I had some problems with selling my mums home but Heylo were great waiting for it to be sorted. Would recommend to anyone with confidence.

I have been meaning to write this review for some time, but it has been crazily busy since moving into my new home. This company is absolutely AMAZING at what they do. I had the lovely Ben Kippin as my contact; he is friendly, approachable and just handles any queries so efficiently. There were 2 or 3 occasions when other staff dealt with things when Ben was away and each time I was always surprised by how consistently good the customer service was. The only downside was that I decided to use a solicitor from their panel of recommended ones; I went with Holmes & Hills. It was the worst experience ever for so many reasons, I think as a company they need to perhaps carry out satisfaction surveys and add/remove solicitors accordingly so that they are recommending only the best. Anyways, once I moved into my home, I was sent the cutest hamper full of yummy goodies - it made my day!! I didn't expect that at all. Thank you again for a wonderful experience as I got on to the property ladder for the very first time.

I thought Shared Ownership was for first time buyers and how wrong was I. At the ripe age of 57 I thought I would be stuck in my flat forever. As a mature law student, but a qualified paralegal, I'm still studying and my salary reflects this. I was so unhappy where I was living and on a single income never thought I'd be able to move. That is until a local estate mentioned Heylo. I contacted them immediately and never looked back. I originally dealt with Emma Stallworthy, who was so kind an helpful, and then during her annual leave, my case was passed to Camilla Stephens. Camilla was so laid back and nothing was ever an issue. The whole transaction was so smooth. I am now in a detached bungalow and life is great. I purchased a percentage with the equity I had and I rent the remainder, which is far less than the open market rental, and when I finally qualify as a legal exec, I can staircase and buy more, or not if I don't want to. Life is now wonderful and I cannot thank all at Heylo, Camilla and Emma enough for literally giving me my well being, health and life back. In my opinion. Heylo staff wear Halos!!!

We wanted to avoid traditional mortgage. Came across Your Home Scheme of Heylo Housing which seems to be the most suitable option; no loan involved so no interest to pay. The process was easy from start to finish. Agnieszka was very helpful throughout.
