AARP's agent EXPEDIA

AARP's agent, EXPEDIA, offered a hotel in Casper WY, Super8 by Wyndham-Casper/Evansville. Building is old. Two story with NO elevator - not disclosed. Not maintained (half of structure shuttered). Hotel very worn, smelled of smoke... guests (?)/locals hanging around lobby and near outer doors. Outer doors, supposed to be key card entry only wouldn't shut properly, so were open to anyone. Bath exhaust inoperable: switch broken. No cover on Bath electrical switches. "Breakfast" a joke. Checked thoroughly for bedbugs: found NONE. AARP should be ashamed to have a relationship with a booking agent like this

The AARP app is wretched

The AARP app is wretched. Each redesign “upgrade” includes more technical glitches than the last. Simple screen freezes, I could understand, but ridiculous “looping,” bizarre font “jumps” and random resizing—these are juvenile tech problems that a company raking in as much money as AARP does should do better.

Life insurance thru AARP is a joke

Life insurance thru AARP is a joke, don't buy their insurance, these people with their insurance will not be truthfull with you, telling you their rates are permanent and will not increase..Then when they increase you find you are not getting the insurance they said you were. I had to cancel the policy and was told, and it showed online that there was a cash value check owed to me. Now they say there was no cash value to the insurance, never will again mess with these people or suggest anyone buys their insurance, lied to from the begining.

Can't purchase discounted gift cards.

Myself, and many other AARP members, are not able to purchase discounted gift cards on their website. I have cleared cache, cookies, allowed third-party tracking, tried different browsers, and nothing works. When I called about the issue the rep didn't know how to help me, nor did she understand what I had already attempted to fix the issue, and we are not able to make the purchase over the phone. I have had reps offer to reach out within the member's blog area, but then never do. I will not be renewing my membership.

I feel important services are not…

I feel important services are not covered and who the heck can afford a hospital co-pay. AARP used to be recognized by those who carried their medical card a sense of security now it’s fairly useless and I’ll be looking elsewhere this winter

I am 84 years old and have been an AARP…

I am 84 years old and have been an AARP member for a long time. I have enjoyed the benefits of their supplemental insurance program for many years. A few years ago I decided to purchase automobile insurance from the Hartford insurance sponsored by AARP. My first year premiums were substantially less than what I wae paying which I soon learned was a promotional premium. After my first year the premium was increased by 22%. This year my premium was increased by a wopping 40%.
,(and that was with a perfect driving record and no claims }. I feel that this practice is a borderline scam. I don't feel that it is AARPs intent to take advantage of their senior citizens by sponsoring this program.

AARP IS INCOMPETENT

AARP IS INCOMPETENT! I rejoined a year ago with a status of divorced. No significant other listed. They just auto renewed my membership with a card for my ex! I called to rescind membership. Waited for 20 minutes. I expressed my frustration and demand refund while expressing disgust with their poor record keeping. The representative just hung up on me. DON’T JOIN AARP. INCOMPETENT. POOR SERVICE. A FRAUD!

AARP is nothing but a scam

AARP is nothing but a scam! They do all kinds of research into all kinds of companies charities and they research it for seniors. They give the information to seniors and then claim that what they're doing is trying to get a better price or more or discount for the seniors. Then they want you to pay an annual membership. They don't tell you that the CEO makes over 1.5 million a year and that the benefits are not accepted everywhere it's hit and miss. This is the biggest money making scam against seniors I've ever seen in my life. Especially when you can do the research yourself and not every business will honor you being a senior and give you a discount. I can't believe this is still a legitimate money making business in the US. 😡

In the good "old" days

In the good "old" days, AARP really seemed to represent the senior citizens. It is now a money grabbing far left leaning Democrat organization that really does nothing for the senior senior except empty our pocket books by the promises of all these discounts that with a little effort we can find more favorably elsewhere. They should represent both sides of the isle but they don't.

They did not protest Biden increase to the Medicare Supplemental plans monthly rate increase. Did you read about this from AARP and them protesting. That would be a big NO!

My Daddy taught me to follow the money. Follow the money at AARP is down the far left leaning political agenda instead of an agenda for all American Citizens. Who cares what these crazy Hollywood characters do. They don't represent the typical Senior Citizen who is trying to stay afloat after this high inflation of the past 3+ years. I am going to follow "my" money back to my pocket not theirs.

Place a better search for insurance

Place a better search for insurance, "Hartford" is a joke and are not truthful when you catch them in the act, they were $875. to $1000. over other quotes, then they claim you did not pay, so they state you have to wait one year before applying again. This is just wrong when you don't renew because of their rates. I fault AARP as they represent them!

AARP is a rip off

AARP is a rip off. I just received a auto quote $1,000 every 6 months. I accepted a quote from Progressive at $472 every 6 months.. The difference in price is unbelievable and AARP stated discounts and savings.. Dropping this rediculous membership as it's a rip off

AARP preys on seniors!

AARP is preying on seniors by engaging in deliberately deceptive marketing. I just received an e-mail from the "AARP Member Welcome Team" with the subject line: "Robert, Thank You for Joining AARP!"; the body of the e-mail begins: "Thanks for becoming a member.". I have not joined AARP myself, but membership is included as a benefit of other programs. I attempted to obtain my member number over the phone and in online chat but was told that there is no record of me being a member (wouldn't I like to pay to join?). My HMO does not offer AARP membership as a benefit. Following up on this fraudulent e-mail with AARP and my HMO wasted about half an hour of my time. AARP is lying to people whose e-mail addresses it has, luring them into contacting AARP, and then offering to sign them up for membership (for a fee) when they discover that they are not in fact members. The Member Welcome Team has not responded to my inquiry regarding my bogus membership (although its e-mail address accepts replies) and continues to spam my inbox. I'll probably take this up with the Better Business Bureau.

If I could leave a zero stars that…

If I could leave a zero stars that would be closer to reality. AARP immediately sells your phone number and email address to everyone selling some type of senior product or service. If you don’t want your phone ringing off the hook with telemarketers and email box full of trash, avoid AARP totally!

As a former AARP member who tried…

As a former AARP member who tried unsuccessfully to influence this gigantic scam of elderly Americans, I URGE SENIORS TO BEWARE THEIR MANY PLOYS AND SO-CALLED OFFERS TO GET YOU TO JOIN THEM -- AARP has become a bureaucratic bunch of pseudo-progressive purveyors of overpriced insurance and ineffective lobbying. One aspect of AARP´s abysmal failure to really represent older Americans is their blatant refusal to really consider vital articles on consumerist themes -- the vaunted AARP MAGAZINE refuses to even receive an entire article, demanding that only a summary be submitted!

The AARP website tries to entice seniors by offering all sorts of promotions and offers, while their overpaid staff sit on their hands as to such issues as the urgent need for Advance Directives to become standard practice for aging Americans, particularly those suffering from senile dementia such as Alzheimer´s Disease. AARP is a phony advocate as to real senior issues, and mostly exists to divert the elderly from actually resolving problems! BEWARE
