Shame on AARP for touting United Health…

Shame on AARP for touting United Health Care only. UHC has cancelled any Medicare Advantage plans in Alameda county that are connected with Stanford Health Care, leaving untold numbers searching to find a way to stay with physicians we've had for years.

AARP is the WORST!

AARP is the WORST!! I will not renew my Part D plan with AARP, nor recommend to others. Warn everyone away from their services.

Multiple phone calls accomplished nothing. All their people know how to say is "I'm sorry." But they can't resolve any issue. Useless!! Fortunately for me, there are only a few weeks left in the year and I won't need much.

It's worth paying a few dollars more to BC/BS or just about anyone else and not deal with their idiotic, incompetent oversees call center.

For me AARP is a waist of time.

They waited my time and money with insurance I got from them, then they started sending me notices that my rates were going up. So I spent my little money getting insurance to leave my daughter a little, they kept writing me notifying me that my rates would go up. I spent 5 years paying every month and when they sent me that last notice I walked away, with NOTHING to show. AARP save your paper, your meager savings mean nothing to me so why don’t you save your paper. STOP SENDING ME MAIL BEGINNING ME TO COME BACK OR BUY THIS OR THAT.

Trying to cancel membership is a…

Trying to cancel membership is a nightmare. Cannot cancel online and phone tree is a joke to navigate to a human. Benefits not worth the piddly membership fee. They also pay their employed seniors barely above minimum wage. Don't waste your money or time.

They are the most liberal outfit

They are the most liberal outfit. They sent this magazine out stating they’ve got quotes in them from both presidential candidates and they are so biased. It’s beyond belief. I’m canceling everything to do with AARP. If they don’t recognize the suffering that America has been dealt with under the current administration, they are blind and lining their pockets with seniors Money that they think are too stupid to recognize these issues. I just found out Kamala Harris‘s husband owns 90% and the stock of the company that’s buying up all of the properties available that were flooded in North Carolina. I suppose it wouldn’t be because there’s lithium in the mountains and they need right of way.

AARP Mag needs higher standards in some articles

AARP Mag is for readers 50+ years old. An article in the Sept/Oct 2024 edition focused on women's health issues, which for the over-50 crowd can be especially life-threatening. Instead of taking a respectful approach it was written in a too-light manner, cartoonish even, in a misguided attempt to be appealing. The article included the term "mofo" to describe breast pain. While "mofo" might be in common use among Millennials, it is a HIGHLY offensive term to women and should not be used in an article if it's to be taken seriously. The author, Judith Newman, should use more care when writing for an older female audience, and AARP Mag should hold its writers to a higher standard.

Their plan with Unitedhealthcare…

Their plan with Unitedhealthcare sucks.... they should be ashamed to have their name attached to Unitedhealthcare. They deny the dental claims. It makes me think aarp is just as bad as Unitedhealthcare.

I see no use for this organization

I see no use for this organization or paying them $12 a year to renew a membership I get nothing from besides hundreds of emails that I never requested. I am so tired of getting emails about insurance, best deals on restaurants, car rentals, hotel, etc. Even though I unsubscribe or block the emails I just get more. Recently we decided to book a rental car through Budget which AARP endorsed. What a scam, a $251 deal for a week turned into $520 with all of the hidden fees. There was nothing ‘budget’ about the deal; customer service, agent knowledge, and car availability were all poor. AARP should be ashamed to endorse them. And, the only reason we joined AARP was because it reduced our health insurance cost slightly. Unfortunately it increased my frustration level because of all of the emails and the Budget debacle.

AARP is a joke

AARP is a joke. Sure it's cheap, because they sell your name to everyone. It's a left wing company simply by reading their rag called a magazine. Quit them years ago over their political left wing bent.

Great employee referral

I had the pleasure of meeting and speaking with Angela West, an AARP employee, who convinced me to sign up. I thought AARP was simply for seniors, but I was wrong. They have a great rewards program that I have utilized for books, discounts, and outings. Thanks to Angela West for representing the company well and convincing me to join!

Information useful, deals not so much

I appreciate some of the information in AARP publications, and the online information. On the other hand, there's not much I would purchase through them. Their Medicare supplements are not an AARP product, but are through United Healthcare, not my favorite company. So don't think of it as AARP insurance. And other affiliates may not be well chosen either. The "points" you get from online visits are something of a joke to me, and I can't find anything worthwhile to do with them. When I traveled more, the AARP card did get me some motel discounts, and I suppose I should watch for other places where membership provides a small discount. But in general, their sponsored companies seem to offer less than what you can find elsewhere. Still, now and then the information published by AARP has a few useful tidbits, so the basic membership is worth it to me.
