Disclaimer: Everything I say is from my personal experience using Afficient. I am not affiliated with them and they did not pay me to say anything.
I'm a 12-year-old using Afficient for about 3 years. This website sucks. And here are the reasons why you should not use this website.
First, as many other fellow users said, the scoring system is extremely frustrating and and "demos" barely explain anything. Well sort of. The people who wrote the demos don't know English, and there are lots of typos and spelling errors and bad grammar that just make the demos impossible to understand. Some methods taught are very hard to understand, but the demos made it like 20 times worse.
Second, the system is a glitchy mess. I have never raged more than when I can't click the submit button and I'm on a time limit. Well guess what happens next? Time runs out, I get dropped because of a fricking system error! The timer also freezes, and sometimes the system says I have a wrong answer even though the fricking hints say it's correct!
TO BE LEARNED is either so easy that a first grader could do algebra problems or damn near impossible hard. The demos like written above, are impossible to understand, and they just make the whole thing worse. It's like dumping gasoline into a warehouse fire that you want to extinguish. It just makes the situation like 50 times worse, and the questions are so confusing that I destroyed 2 computers because a system glitch happened and I raged.
Afficient is basically the computer version of a McGraw-Hill book and it's like 20 times more expensive. Those McGraw-Hill books have excellent explanations and it actually has GOOD explanations that actually guide you through the questions.
Fifth, school and thing related to academics, are damn near impossible at times and they are actually making us less intelligent. Watch the TEDx video titled "How School Makes Kids Less Intelligent" that is spoken by a straight-C-student. Yes, you read that correctly. A straight-C-student.
School is making us less creatively intelligent and more academically intelligent, which makes us unable and unwilling to think outside of the box, and that won't actually be good because in different scenarios, the method your teacher taught you won't actually work because everything doesn't match up. Now that is called an issue because you're stupid.
Also, There are multiple questions in the damn system that are damn wrong, and I get dropped if i'm so unlucky and gets one that seems to be one that just has that one damn issue.
Now onto the worst one, Afficiency.
This is the thing most reviewers seem to hate, and honestly, I agree. The scoring system before was punishing, but this is absolutely brutal. A single minuscule error can set you back by over 30 minutes, and you're lucky if you get more than 0.01 or 0.02 score on a correct answer. The timer freeze glitch also happens here. This is only the math part. The English part is like 20 times worse.
The questions are easier than math but the main issue is that the diagnostics and stuff that determine your grade level is completely off. Like really. I'm a 7th grader, and I have an English level at 6th grade, like how the test says, but I have been learning stuff I did not learn in 6th grade at all. That is a big issue because some things like pronunciation have logic that even my friend who has straight As and is in high school can't even understand, which is really bad.
Bit of advice to parents who want to improve their kids' math and English skills. DO NOT choose this website despite the 4.6 or 4.5 star overall rating. Most 1 and 2 star ratings come from people who have actually used and experienced this tool long-term. It sucks. Even other big names, like IXL, Khan Academy, Kumon, Mathnasium, etc. are like 1000 times better than Afficient. Trust me, or just observe your kids' behaviors to see how genuinely bad and frustrating this platform is.
All in all, Afficient is not a bad idea, but executed horribly. This is the worst thing I've experienced, and I have used like 5 English/math tutoring platforms.

This website is very bad at leting you learn things it just repeats questions and are superbly boring

My child, who is currently in 7th grade, has now completed three consecutive months of the vocabulary program. They consistently exceed the weekly goals by 200%, and I think the system is fantastic for helping them stay motivated and keep going.

My daughter is now in sixth grade. Getting her to study math used to be a real struggle. A friend recommended Afficient Academy, and after trying it for four months, she now uses Afficient to study math every day. I hope she can keep it up — many thanks to the teachers who have helped her.

My daughter has been studying Afficient English for two months and has mastered numerous vocabulary words. She enthusiastically learns new content every day, demonstrating significant progress in her English proficiency.

We have been with Afficient for 7 years for all my 3 kids. They have a solid and proven system for Math and English. I would recommend Afficient for any student who wants to be strong in Math and English!

Afficient is a nice platform for kids to learn on their own pace at home! It designs the way to allocate personalized assignments to students each week, and students follow the tasks to either learn new knowledge or rework on their weak points. It has motivated my kid to work on the school curiculum and become confident!

My child came to the United States only one year ago. Because of his limited English, he had difficulty understanding many math problems. He often could not understand the questions in class, the new concepts, or even the way math is taught in the U.S. education system.

He is currently in fourth grade, but after an assessment, we found that his math level was only at a second-grade level. Since he will enter middle school soon, and math is such an important subject, we were very concerned.

After studying at Afficient for one month, his math performance has improved significantly. The teaching methods at Afficient are scientific and well-structured, and my child is very interested in the lessons. The learning tasks are reasonable and not overwhelming, and his motivation to learn has greatly increased.

孩子在Afficient学习英语和数学两个月时间了。数学已经完成了整整一个年级的学习，英语应该也快了。他现在是2年级，两个多月的时间完成了3年级的数学，现在马上要开始4年级的数学学习了。他自己很喜欢这种可以根据自己学习进度安排学习的方式，而且从结果上来看也非常有效果。昨天收到班主任老师的邮件，说我们可以选择是否参加这次的家长会，因为孩子的学习和行为都很好，没有什么值得担心的。但是之前不是哦，哈哈哈，经常课堂上完成不了任务（尤其是英文写作），课堂纪律也不好，而被老师说。现在呢，因为有了Afficient的学习，英语方面积累了很多词汇，看得东西也多了，从而写东西不像以前磨磨蹭蹭的（磨蹭的原因有很多，词不会拼写、不知道怎么组织语句、头脑空洞没有观点，因为写不出来，就到处找人说话）。现在虽然还是写东西需要大人引导一下，但后面的成文他基本可以自己完成了。数学本来他就很喜欢，现在学校教的已经喂不饱他了，在Afficient上按照自己的步伐自学真的很好。

Efficient Math is highly recommended for students who want to challenge themselves and strengthen their advanced math skills. As parents, we are very pleased to see the significant progress our children have made. We no longer need to sit down with them to reteach or constantly encourage them, as online teachers are available to provide support whenever they need help. For students who are more self-motivated, they can also explore the demo lessons independently and learn at their own pace. We truly appreciate this program and the confidence it has helped build.

My son is currently in fourth grade. His favorite thing to do after school every day is work on Afficient. In just 12 days, he reviewed all of the fourth-grade material and is now moving on to fifth-grade content.

Afficient continuously reinforces concepts by repeating missed questions until they are mastered. In addition, there is a sufficient number of practice problems to ensure he develops a strong and solid understanding of the material.

We are very happy with the results.
