We absolutely love teaching your child; they are so attentive, creative, and a real joy to have in class. We especially enjoy their enthusiasm for learning new techniques! The soft pastel project they have been working on recently looks absolutely beautiful. The colours, blending, and attention to detail really stood out, and we were so proud of what they have achieved.

She has created many wonderful pieces of work, including still life drawings and paintings, 3D projects such as clay and papier-mâché, and facial drawing studies. She is incredibly talented, and it has been a real pleasure watching her creativity and confidence grow.
Great holiday art club
Both children aged 7 and 11 came home happy with wonderful and varied artwork and the teachers were very kind. Would recommend this club

The art leader teaches each student according to their individual learning goals, whether in drawing techniques, painting or other 3d projects. Every student has their own project and in this way we can welcome all levels of abilities and interests, where there is no pressure on time which enables creativity, and everyone is relaxed sharing an enjoyable experience with others.

Not very creative
My 8 year old son attended one of their holiday clubs. The two women taking the class were lovely, and he had fun with all the other kids. But the two things he got to create on the day were quite prescriptive. He asked if he could add his own details and change the painting slightly they were all creating. But was told that wasn’t allowed and he had to follow and copy what everyone else was making. The result at the end of the day was a room full of pretty much identical paintings. It’s a shame that the kids aren’t encouraged to add their own creative input to the artworks. And even worse that they’re told they’re not allowed to at all.

Thank you for your feedback and for sharing your thoughts with us. We’re very glad to hear that your son enjoyed the company of the other children and that our teachers made him feel welcome – that means a lot to us.
We’d like to assure you that creativity and individual expression are absolutely encouraged in our class. Our projects are carefully designed to help students learn and practise specific art techniques under the guidance of teachers. Within this structure, students are always supported to explore their own ideas and add personal touches to their work.
In your son’s case, the teacher encouraged him to add his own elements – for example, he chose to include different animals in his painting. And he was also allowed to draw the toy figures he wanted and did a great job sketching his ideas. The teacher then provided suitable materials and suggested he use coloured pencils to bring his drawings to life.
This was all part of a broader project where students practiced a range of techniques, such as:
* Watercolour: wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry techniques
* Mixed media: combining watercolour with acrylics, oil pastels, and pen
* Brushwork: using the tip of the brush for detailed strokes and blending colours
We always encourage students to choose the projects they enjoy working on, we understand that at first glance, some finished pieces might look similar, especially in group projects focused on mastering a particular skill. However, we always strive to strike a balance between structured learning and creative freedom, and we’re sorry if that wasn’t fully apparent on this occasion.
We appreciate your feedback and will continue to reflect on how we communicate our approach during sessions to ensure both students and parents feel confident in the creative opportunities offered.

Personalised teaching style
Our daughter loves art-K, as the teaching style suits her personality. She likes to take her time to complete each project to her satisfaction, and the teachers do not rush her, providing help when she needs it. The personalisation of their teaching style is excellent.

It's fantastic!
I highly recommend the Thursday evening classes for adults. The atmosphere is great, we are very well received, and it allows us to have an excellent time. The same goes for the Sunday classes. The instructors are amazing, patient, and talented. It's fantastic!

Highly recommend the 11-16 classes as prep for GCSE
Great to find a suitable art class for 10+ age group - the alternatives are either rather basic or extremely focussed (eg fine art only). I feel the work produced is a great precursor for GCSE art and my daughter has built a great portfolio in relatively short time.
Fabulous that there is now an art-K in Hackney too.

This was such a calming and relaxing way to spend the day, suitable for every age. Lucy was especially great and all staff were so thoughtful and caring about the kids. I highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in learning more about art or who just wants a fun and informative experience

We always order stock in advance to avoid issues like this, but we didn't order this soon enough and were caught out with delays.
