Got laughed at down the phone
When I was looking for a new flat in June I was speaking to one of their estate agents about a flat and asked about something I’d read about on the BBC website and gov.co.uk regarding landlords no longer being able to ban pets outright and got laughed at down the phone and was literally told word for word ‘that sounds like absolute rubbish’, followed by being mansplained to about leaseholds and told very harshly that having a pet would cut my search results in half - great thanks I never realised I’ll now abandon my cat?? Never received the email with links to flats I was told I’d receive either. Would think that customer service is a key aspect of being an estate agent, maybe this person needs some more training?
UPDATE: In response to the company’s condescending reply below I’d like to reiterate that I simply POLITELY asked the estate agent about the stuff I’d read about regarding pets, and was met with complete rudeness - the attitude from the estate agent is what I am complaining about, I’m not here to argue about whether pets are or aren’t allowed, that’s very clear in my review so maybe learn to read.

Atkinson McLeod are the worst property…
Atkinson McLeod are the worst property managers I have ever had to deal with. They are difficult, unresponsive and unhelpful. They neglected our home and the tenants I live with and cause more stress and problems than anything else. Stay away.
Do NOT use this agent
Do NOT use this agent. Avoid at all costs. My partner and I rented a flat for the past year and when we arrived, the flat was uninhabitable due to electrical issues we were not aware of. We also got charged for additional water heating costs as the boiler had been left on the ‘peak setting’ before we arrived. Atkinson McLeod were unwilling to provide any compensation.
In addition, the electrician who came to fix our flat (one provided by AM) caused further destruction, and AM tried to take the costs of fixing his breakages from our deposit.
Finally, it was a nightmare trying to reclaim our deposit, and it took almost two months of pushing before we finally received it.

I have been renting an apartment for 14 years from atkinson mcleod, never had any problems. Charlie is the person who helped with everything at the end, so the stage of closing the documents and moving out went very smoothly. if I go back to London, Charlie is definitely the agent I will turn to for help in finding a flat. I recommend it with a clear conscience.

The agent asked me to pay the holding deposit, but did not refund the money as per promised date and did not provide me with the reasons why. I kept chasing and updates until now.

Avoid if you don’t want to be mislead
I previously wrote a positive review but I take back everything that I said. The person we have dealt with has been misleading, is unprofessional and lacks in communication. Failed to highlight crucial information from the beginning and now we are faced with bills that he confirmed were included in the rent price and is trying to brush off responsibility. After countless emails over a period of months, I’m still waiting for a response on what is included and what isn’t, and I have lived in the property for more than 6 months.

Gilbert Francoise was extremely helpful and highly professional. He had a lot of patient, gave sound advice and was very active more than my solicitors. A very good go-between. Will always recommend Atkinson MCLeod and especially Gilbert to handle any sales or purchase matters. Simply the best man.

One of the most useless lettings agents…
One of the most useless lettings agents I have dealt with. Avoid at all cost. I managed to make a deal more than a month ago and I still have not received the contract 1 week before beginning of my tenancy. The agent I am dealing with has been super unresponsive, I have to chase him even to make payments I know need to happen. Just do yourself a service and never ever interact with this company unless you want to do their job for them and chase them down day by day.

I viewed a flat with my partner recently and the experience was absolutely horrendous. The property agent kept insulting us and making us KNOW that we're not important. We had one problem which we mentioned to him and he told us he doesn't care because there's gonna be more customers, and he doesn't earn money that goes into the house, that's for the landlord, so he doesn't care if we rent the flat or not. He also said that were wasting his time over and over. And that there will be customers for this flat in minutes so it's worthless to think and we have to decide NOW. Ive never met a worse salesman in my life. Even though the area was nice, and we were willing to pay a bit more for it, that experience was so bad, that I'm never coming back to this company. Absolute joke.
At first it was good then it was horrible
At the beginning, my experience with Atkinson Mcleod was great as they were very responsive throughout the flat hunting process. The moment I put the deposit down, the agent that was taking care of my tenancy would not reply to my texts or emails for days. I did not know whether I could sign my tenancy agreement until a couple of days before I was supposed to move in. I have now been living in my flat for a month and the lack of responsiveness is absolutely disappointing. The flat had many repairs that needed to be done. I am still waiting for this. Whenever I needed to check something with the landlady or needed to contact the agency, it would take a week or more because of the lack of responsiveness of every department at Atkinson McLeod. From property management to accounts - it has been a nightmare.

I have no idea how Atkinson McLeod Balham are lawfully operating. C.H. (Lettings Manager) is extremely rude and disrespectful. I have never been treated like this and no one should have to stand for it. My only regret is not standing up for myself when it happened. I have contacted citizens advice and the Council to report this agency for dishonest trading behavior. I have trauma from interacting with this agency and its simply unjust.
Backstory:
I received a call from the agent the NIGHT BEFORE we were supposed to move-in telling us that none of the works nor a deep clean was done. We signed on for this flat more than two months prior so the agency had plenty of time to sort these issues. Our flat at the time was full of boxes and a moving company had been booked for the next day. How can this happen? Completely unprofessional.
We were asked to attend the office first thing in the morning to discuss this matter. We had our masks on, socially-distanced sitting in the waiting area, was rudely told off by C.H. to leave. I told him that his agent asked us to be here first thing in the morning - he's the one that is late!
C.H. then told us there is nothing he can do, we signed the tenancy agreement so even though the stove, hot water, fridge/freezer and toilet were inoperable and no deep clean had been conducted - we had to move-in. He handled us two bundles of keys - there were about 30 keys each. I asked which key was for which door - he said 'try them all and figure it out'. He also didn't have the parking gate remote for us!! We had to ask our neighbor to borrow theirs - how disorganized.
It's been an ongoing battle with property management to get repairs and fixes done.
Please save yourself the headache and heartache and do not use this agency. If you are already with this agency, please report them via citizens advice, your local council, and/or MP.
These are people's lives they are messing with - so terrible.
