Getting my money out of the Bank of…
Getting my money out of the Bank of Ireland is getting harder by the week. After 4 customer service reps and 30 minute calls that finally dropped....I am still unable to increase daily limit to move to a more competitive bank. When will they upgrade their systems and get into the 21st century? Designed to keep hold of our money!
Just a SHIT service
Trying to apply for a mortgage and this…
Trying to apply for a mortgage and this bank takes 7 to 10 days to give us a printed statement of account (no digital version available). And then they send us the wrong one. What year is this? I'll steer clear of this bank still operating in the stone age.
They randomly took €580 from my account…
They randomly took €580 from my account to pay a company I had already paid. I've tried emailing and calling BOI, if I actually do get through to someone, it's impossible for them to understand anything being said.
deposit account…
I applied to open a deposit account with BOI. Documentation required including letter from utility or financial institution showing address for confirmation. I sent a letter from BOI thinking it was guaranteed ok. Guess what, it was rejected without explanation. Their own letter!!??
This is an awful company
This is an awful company.
My younger brother died at the age of 31, unexpectedly. My mother and father had to deal with his estate while grieving. Thankfully my brother had insurance that paid off the mortgage on his death. The Bank of Ireland held the mortgage and stated that there would be an early repayment charge of circa £3k that would be payable, because his mortgage was being paid off early (because he died!).
We researched other companies - waiving the ERC in the case of death, is standard practice and considered part of consumer duty. Despite polite calls and emails, and then later formal complaints, the Bank of Ireland refused to waive it, and it's payable.
Whoever in their senior team has set this policy should be ashamed of themselves. The bank has been paid interest the whole time, made their money, and it was towards the end of the mortgage term so they had little to gain apart from rinsing a few extra thousand pounds from a grieving mother and father.
Never mind the moral failing here, from a business perspective this is self-defeating. No-one we ever speak with will borrow from the Bank of Ireland again.
Disgraceful Cusomer Service
Disgraceful Cusomer Service - have spent literally hours on the phone since 16th September when a transaction on my credit card was supposed to have been stopped - account was frozen and I got new credit card - I was assured on my first of many calls that transaction was not processed, but it was - when you phone and EVENTUALLY get through all the recorded bits and reach a real person they will engage but have no clue and transfer you to someone else who doesn't have a clue and again to someone else - after all this they hang up on you when being transferred yet again - spoke to one person who told me to text 'dispute' which I did -you have to fill out all parts to get any action and upload invoices etc.when a company is trying to scam/steal from you this information is not readily available - I did type out a full document explaining what happened but of course that would not suffice - you cannot reply to these emails (why not?) Overall I am more annoyed with BOI than the scammers - Really bad -
Can only scroll down the last 10 days. I should be allowed scroll through last 12 months minimum.
Can only scroll down the last 10 days. Not good enough.
BOI shockingly poir customer service…
Phoned BOI with a query.Woman I spoke with was from some other country and couldn't understand what I was saying.Had to repeat myself constantly and eventually gave up without getting an answer to my query.Wanted to transfer me to someone else or else have me go into my own branch to get them to deal with it.Shockingly poor customer service
The worst experience regarding mortgage…
The worst experience regarding mortgage applications I have ever had. I have a sizeable disposable income and large savings but because I was spending my savings on house improvements said they could not consider my application with the underwriters because the total balance did not increase by my disposable income. They wanted to tell me how I should spend my savings!
The absolute worst experience applying…
The absolute worst experience applying for a mortgage. The lady we had the displeasure of dealing with was the rudest, most impatient and unfriendly woman we've ever encountered. They kept coming back again and again and again asking for more documents far beyond what they initially asked for for months. Never again
Absolutely useless customer service
Absolutely useless customer service. Locked out of my account, went to a BofI Branch to be reconnected, sat there for approx. 1.5 hrs.trying but going around in circles, then they couldn't help me. Told to phone 365 online who asked me to list the last 3 transactions on the account and dates WHICH I COULDN'T SEE AS I COULDN'T GET IN TO THE ACCOUNT TO SEE A STATEMENT WITH THIS INFORMATION. Tried this again twice, got the same person, with very bad English, and was told the very same thing. Causing unnecessary stress to customers........365 YOU'RE A JOKE!!!!!!

We have mortgage with this bank for few years now, this banks system is extremely bad, there are glitch and flaws in every step, we contact them for mortgage break for renovations and selling the house they asked for our bank statements and not once they kept on asking for bank statements after every few weeks then 2 days back they rang on my husband mobile and, started discussing my transactions and outgoings and incoming, with my husband (I am the only account holder),they have my contact number, they have clearly breach rules and I am taking them to court for that
These banks at any condition are not allowed to discuss husbands account with wife or wife account with husband at any cost.

Tried to change payment date due to new work place . Agent I had spoken to had never had such a request & had to pass me to a different team . Spoke to different agent who advised my mortgage would show as having arrears ? Told them to forget it . Zero customer service.
A shambolic service
A shambolic service. Customer service agents are poorly trained: they lack knowledge of their services and dont take the time to obtain the information needed to give proper advice.

the lady named Pooja that was on the line with me was nothing but kind. I had so many technical difficulties with my app and finding my pin, she was able to graciously help me through talking me through each step. Not only ensuring I understood but made sure and also repeated if I needed any assistance or help throughout 💖
Extremely disappointing experience with…
Extremely disappointing experience with Bank of Ireland. We have tried twice to open an account, and my son even visited the bank in person to complete the process, but we still have not received any positive response or proper resolution. The entire process has been frustrating, slow, and unnecessarily difficult. For a student/newcomer trying to settle in Ireland, this kind of service creates a lot of unnecessary stress.
Based on our personal experience, I would strongly recommend exploring other banking options before choosing Bank of Ireland. We expected a much more efficient and responsive service, but unfortunately, our experience has been very poor and disappointing.
If you want
Worst customer service experience I've ever had in my life
I contacted Bank of Ireland customer support yesterday to resolve a technical issue regarding a blocked EU card verification on Visa.
The call was I think transferred to an overseas Indian support center where the representative seemed to not really know anything about Irish banking systems or EU verification processes, and kept saying script statements.
After I repeated my issue three times to ensure there was no confusion, the agent seemed to talk to other people there and then hang up on me without any resolution whatsoever.
In the end I manually changed my card on the site to another bank provider to fix it myself and not use BOI.
If that's the level of support for customers being provided going forward, I will definitely not be a BOI customer for very much longer (having been with bank for 30 years). Completely unacceptable from a major Irish bank.
Unbelievably poor communication and…
Unbelievably poor communication and customer service. They froze my account and locked me out of the app and online banking. But they didn't bother to tell me. It was only a few days later when I was stuck at the till unable to pay for shopping that I realised there was a problem. When I phoned them I wasted over 40 minutes on the phone to somebody in India who was impossible to understand and who couldn't understand me. They eventually told me my accounts were reset but I'm still locked out days later. I have phoned them again since and been jerked around over and over. I'm still waiting for a call back since yesterday. I've been with them for 25 years but as soon as possible I'll be closing my accounts for good. The incompetence and rock bottom customer service is a disgrace.
Absolutely shocking service
Absolutely shocking service. Spent over 20mins on hold then some non Irish national answers and hangs up straight away. Never had a pleasant experience anytime I rang. Would give a minus review if possible
