Come on PTSB you can and SHOULD do better!
I can't even begin to say how awful the service is. Getting through to an agent took me 25 minutes and then I was told 3 times I needed another department. Waited 37 minutes and was then cut off. Come on PTSB, you can and SHOULD do better than this! People do not have time to hang around and get no service back at the end of it all. Totally unsatisfactory and I feel very sorry for your agents. Hopefully when the takeover is complete, a new system that makes customer sense will be put in place!

Avoid for mortgages if you can
Where possible, avoid PTSB as a mortgage provider - they are by far the worst bank I have ever dealt with and are a prime example of what happens when there’s no real competition in a market — their app does not work, customer service is non existent, and they’re still expecting you to send correspondence by post. I just got a letter from them stating that the home insurance policy on our property has ended (it hasn't - we renewed it four months ago with the same company), and to send new docs by post to Dublin - no email address, no option to upload in the online 'Open24' account anywhere. Tried to ring customer service which is supposed to be open on a Saturday from 10-2 but by the time you get to the mortgage department through all the automated processes it says they only open Fridays, and then hangs up on you - every time we have an issue like this we spend an exorbitant amount of time trying to respond to correspondence and it always leads to time lost, a complaint being lodged, and no outcome ever communicated. Save yourself the hassle if you can find a better bank (if it's even possible).

Absolutely appalling customer service. By far the worst bank I've ever dealt with. I rang customer services to change my phone number, they asked for all the details to confirm I'm the account holder, I gave ALL the correct details and they told me they couldn't verify it, rang again 5 minutes later and was told the same by another consultant on the phone! Absolute disgrace!! I can't even access my own account now even though I'm paying those useless thieves!
Terrible customer service and GDPR non-compliance
Take a good look at PTSB’s rating on Trustpilot. Notice something? They don't even bother to respond. That is the exact level of importance they give to customers: zero.
I’ve been struggling for months to close an account from abroad. PTSB is flagrantly violating GDPR (Articles 25 & 32) by refusing to provide secure, digital means for identity verification. Instead, they are demanding that I send copies of my highly sensitive personal documents via international post.
This is a disgraceful security risk. In 2026, they are intentionally exposing my data to theft or loss during transit rather than using secure digital channels. It’s a deliberate hurdle to stop me from exercising my right to close the account.
I have already escalated this to the FSPO and the Data Protection Commission (DPC).
Before opening an account here, check the reviews for their branches across Ireland. This level of negligence appears to be a consistent pattern. They seem not to care about the law, your rights, or your data security. You've been warned.
Don't bother if you want a small mortgage
We got previous mortgage from PTSB circa 2004. We've
had two mortgages with them, which we paid diligently on time without fail. They sold one perfectly profitable tracker mortgage to Pepper Finance. I could never figure that one out! .
We are a self-build who required a small mortgage to finish our house . Our small mortgage application was refused. The process was horrible and extremely stressful . If we were borrowing a couple of 100 thousand to strangle us for the rest of our lives I am sure they would have jumped through hoops for us. Avoid like the plague. They probably wanted us to get a home loan to charge a higher APR and makes lots of profit off us. We went to the credit union and after a seamless process we got approved in a few weeks. Don't bother.

Customer service sent me to fraud and fraud sent me to customer service.... You can guess the rest. When speaking with customer service they just ended the chat and I was back to square one.

Only chose one star as no option for zero. Seriously backwards bank. I was scammed and they have not helped get my money back. Have had enough of them. Going to stick with Revolut from now on.

TSB online banking whichever way you access it, is unreliable. Initially tried to verify a payment for Netflix via the app, was booted off after " incorrect details". Tried via the online access, same ! This is despite my having saved all my details to password manager. I was using the app during the past week . I imagine that due to the time of year there is a lot of online banking traffic but this is a constant issue. Tonight I have reset my account from scratch no less than 9 times. Each time using new details, but the app and online still retained some of my details so I got the message " this person already has an account". Never have I had to input my name, d.o.b and account details so many times. Nowhere near a professional service.
Fraud protection, card frozen without informing me.
I admire the fraud protection measures implemented by TSB. The beef I have is this. My card was blocked unbeknown to me. Went to pay online and TSB approved the payment on the Mobil app. Yet I was not informed my card was blocked. I thought it was the payee's software fault. Spent half the damned nite trying.
Took 30 minutes waiting on the help line.

Been in ptsb bank on Friday ask for a loan for a used car as need walk to work 3miles one way, the amount of money I wanted to borrow was just €2000, when I hear sorry sir u will need to wait a bit longer for your loan - how long? No clear anser... Same day I receive message, sir we will call u tomorrow regarding your loan, they never called back. Still walking 6miles to work and back. Thank you Ptsb.

I was away on a weekend break, only to discover that my PTSB card would not work. Big disappointment and a lot of hassle. Tried to speak to online chat, only to be left dangling. As soon as the local branch opens tomorrow, the account will be closed.
