I was (am) in the market for a new BBQ…
I was (am) in the market for a new BBQ and some accessories. I stumbled on to the exact model I was after which was on offer (bonus).
I dug a little deeper and found out that it was a 2024 model but that was fine, I really liked it and the price was great.
As I live in BC and this company is in Ontario I looked at shipping on their website.
It was somewhat confusing (mentions "Free shipping" above X amount of dollars in one place and shows different shipping prices by shipping "zone" in another). I hoped it was free shipping but suspected it would cost due to the weight and distance but I was fairly sure if this was the case it would be $100 from the options listed and the fact I am in a non remote area.
I sent BBQing an email with screen grabs and links asking to clarify what the shipping cost would be. Next day I hadn't heard from them so I decided to call them before they closed as I was hoping to place an order right away.
I explained the scenario to a helpful gentleman who said he hadn't replied to my email yet and apologized. He did find my email and looked it over as we talked. He answered some questions I had about the product and then we discussed shipping. He advised that shipping would not be free and it would be $100. I advised that as the BBQ was a great deal I was OK with that and placed an order that night (almost $2700).
The next day another person from BBQing called me and advised that I had misunderstood / done something wrong when I placed the order and shipping would be $450.
I explained that I had sent an email and spoken with someone from the store who had confirmed the shipping cost before I placed the order. I sensed he didn't believe me but after a little time he found the email. I advised that he speak with the person I spoke with and clarify.
I checked the order I placed and it clearly states shipping was $100 (bear in mind I had to input my address).
He called me back today, advised that there had been an issue / glitch on the website so shipping was $450 after all and would I like to proceed. Suddenly this deal no longer makes sense so I declined and they cancelled the order.
Be sure you check everything with these folks as my experience was muddled and unprofessional and in the end they wasted my time.

Well Done! Service, not the meat....
I wanted a pellet extender for my buddy's pellet grill as a gift, and while they did not have it in stock, they were able to order it, let me pay for it, and arrange to have it shipped to my Buddy's house. The process took exactly as long as described and went as well as they described--amazingly smooth! My Buddy received it and it was exactly what he wanted. Capital BBQ is still my favorite place to shop for all of my grilling needs; now if they just had a decent butcher and a meat counter....

Driver wheeled it into garage where I needed it.
Left inside the garage so I could assemble and take it through the house to the deck. Assembly was another story as the instructions were pictures only, and not enough detail to see what goes where. The driver was very courteous and willing to help place it.
P.S. the bbq itself is fabulous. Good heat control, easy lighting and wonderful stainless steel grates etc.
