Avoid

Avoid. Premium price for low quality product. Will not buy again from this brand ( whose parent company also own Burlington etc) . Pretty gutted as from the pricing I thought I was getting a good quality product. I have now had this installed for around 1 year and I am not happy with my choice and worry about how I will replace the shower in the future - and potentially need to remove tiles to do so.

I have had a multitude of issues with the bathroom wear I purchased from BC Designs in Polished Gold

1) Shower ceramic handle cracked from being dropped and hitting the bath - thankfully managed to resolve with customer services- however this was made difficult. The customer service experience turned out positive.

2) Tap finish on the knob flaked despite not being cleaned or in contact with any abrasive product - thankfully our supplier managed to order us a new knob

3) The overhead shower stopped working, after working well for three + months after installation. I contacted customer services and they basically accused my plumber of installing the piece incorrectly. If the piece was installed incorrectly it would have never worked - rather than work then stop working. Thankfully they did replace this part but this wasn't a good experience.

4) The shower hose is going rusty despite being dried off regularly.

The finishes, despite having the water conditioner as advised seem to be flaking / especially around the joints. Seems like they aren't perhaps plated thick enough.

Ironically my other much cheaper bathroom, also done in Brass from Roper and Rhodes is *NOT* having any of the above issues despite being used in the same way, no rust etc.

As per another reviewer mentioning - parts of both the shower and the taps do not feel sturdy, nor do elements of the shower. I find this very odd as I had no issue with my previous bathroom equipment which was of a much cheaper build quality.

And the accompanying sink taps.

Poor quality and aftercare

Poor quality and poor aftercare. Product coatings on taps and loo seat failed/corroded after 3 months. Despite having a 5 year warranty they refused to do anything as I hadn’t paid full price. Whilst I had bought the items ex display the quality should still be there in the underlying product. It’s not. Avoid. Overpriced and under quality.

Edit - thanks for the response. I fully understand “sold as seen” as a concept. It’s the quality issue and response from your company that warrant the one star. Most companies would try to help, replace the items, or even just offer a discount or similar for such evidently sub standard products. No help offered. From reading other reviews that seems not to be uncommon.

I can confirm that the information provided is correct. The price you paid for the item is not in question, as retailers have the discretion to set their own prices. However, when purchasing ex-display items, it is important to note that they are sold "as seen" and, as such, are not covered by a standard warranty.

This policy is something that your retailer should have informed you of at the time of purchase.

I wouldnt buy again

I wouldnt buy again. For a supposed premium product and price, the build quality is not good. We have a thermostatic exposed shower and separate sink tap. Both feel flakey and not sturdy, handles keep to need tightening, etc. Also the finishes feel like they will wear off - hope not but not confident.

Great customer service

I purchased a bath 4 years ago which has been excellent. Recently water in the bath slow drained around the plug once it was filled up with water. This was due seals deteriorating around the plug.
I contacted BC Designs about the problem and they were very helpful and agreed to send me a new seal kit to resolve the issue. Great customers service. Thank-you!

Really disappointing experience with BC…

Really disappointing experience with BC Designs. We ordered the Crea bath and it arrived with marks and stains on it. No apology from them, just a suggestion that we should try and repair the bath ourselves. For a 2.5k bath I would expect it to be delivered in damaged and certainly not asked to fix it myself. BC offered no other option and no compensation so we were forced to attempt the repair ourselves. Thankfully this worked as we had waited four months for the bath to be delivered. The waste was delayed three times before it was finally delivered.
I don’t recommend this company for their poor customer service and whilst the bath looks great, it’s not comfortable!

Worst misleading customer service ever

Terrible customer service, I am still waiting for replacement tap heads I ordered and paid for over 5 months ago. Every time I email and call I am told end of the week over and over again or just ignored. It is utterly ridiculous. The choice now is to replace the whole bathroom suite with items that match and throw all their products away or don't use my sinks. This is the worse company I have ever dealt with! AVOID! Date of experience is ongoing here as it is still not resolved.

Awful Quality

BEWARE - If you are thin king of buying a copper bath from this company then BC designs sell their copper/nickel slipper bath for £6281 but the identical bath is available from Victorian Plumbing for £2700 - a huge difference in price. I bought it from VP, HOWEVER, when it came to installing the bath, it did not drain away when it was tested by the plumber. Even when the bath was propped up at one end by 40mm, the bath still did not drain.

When this was raised with the manufacturer, the reason they gave was utterly appalling. "All copper baths are like this to some extent, they are individually handcrafted and there are no drainage standards to adhere too because of this. This is quite normal for the product and a replacement would more than likely be the same."

This excuse is utter and absolute nonsense and just beggars belief. No "standards"..."normal"....er no its not??? A bath should drain and its not rocket science.

If a £50 b&q bath can crain away, then it goes without saying that a £6000 bath shoiuld drain away.

That said, if a "premium" company like this can make an absurd excuse like this, then you should run a mile.

Poor design and shocking customer service

If I could rate this company 0 stars I would. I purchased a BC Designs bath over 12 months ago. The bath has a manufacturing / design fault which means it does not fully drain. I have been dealing with their customer services team for over a year now and it is without doubt the worst company I have ever had to deal with. I still don’t have a replacement bath and I can’t use the current bath and there is no timescale for a resolution. They really don’t seem to care and emails are ignored for weeks at a time with no apology and not even a phone call. I would strongly advise not purchasing from this company. I am now taking legal advice.

Not good quality or service

I have been trying to get a bath panel (which peeled) replaced from the Bayswater brand. I also had two toilet seats which peeled. It was fitted in Jan 21 and started peeling in April 22 so well within guarantee and shouldn't be falling apart. My plumber and I have been chasing BD Designs for months. No resolution.

There are lots of bathroom suite providers in the same style with much better customer service and better quality products.

If I could give them a 0 I would. Order overdue chased with retailer who have been chasing them to be told it was in and needed to go through their QC and I would have it last week. Guess what still not here and they now say that one part of the order (the shower valve most important part) is not there and no idea when it will be in. Absolutely shocking. They quote 4 weeks lead time my order was placed 12/4
